Hi Chris,
Just a suggestion: You might check with the branch office of the WTBTS in London. Perhaps they can assist you with your request. Have a lovely trip!

Circle of friends
by mommy ini have a circle of friends.
the kind of friends you can pop in whenever you are in the area, without a phone call first.
the kind of friends i would allow to enter my house if i wasnt home, to borrow sugar, flour, toilet paper, etc, if they needed it.. we are a close knit group and watch out for each other.

Hi Wendy,
I thought of this after I sent you the e-mail last night: If you are mandated to let them come into your house, video tape everything they do. They might not like it, but it's your home and you have the right to do so. If they ask you to turn it off, I then think you would have excellent grounds for enlisting the ACLU's help. Just my opinion.

Thanks RR, I would like to see that site - you had mentioned that group in a previous post, but I wasn't able to locate any information.
Does any poster here recall a situation a few years back, where a congregation was suing the WTBTS re the ownership of their Kingdom Hall? I remember reading about it, but never learned of the outcome...think it might have been in Texas?

belly up to the bar, guys and gals
by unanswered inwith all the confrontation/negativity on the board these last few weeks, maybe we all need to sit back and have a drink, or a cup of tea or coffee, if alcohol's not for you.. seriously, i'm not trying to pretend that i haven't gotten caught up in the negativity at times, or trivialize important issues/feelings, but things haven't been as fun, lately.
i've noticed a change even in the short time i've been posting.
i didn't start this topic to point fingers or to act like my opinion is somehow special, but wouldn't it be nice for all of us to see an increase in civility?.

Unanswered,
Count me as a patron! But, I am getting pretty good at just skipping over threads that are name-calling and hostile in nature.

buddhism: the doctrine, attributed to buddha, that suffering is inseparable from existence but that inward extinction of the self and of worldly desire culminates in a state of spiritual enlightenment beyond both suffering and existence.. doctrine: a principle or body of principles presented for acceptance or belief, as by a religious, political, scientific, or philosophic group; dogma.

A "flipping chatroom"...and "this
flipping discussion board." Oh my, I am confused! I don't know whether I should throw, toss, turn, twist, flick, somersault, or go crazy. Nevermind, I think I will drink an alcoholic flip.I'm so impertinent, errr, or do I mean flip?
Sorry, gentlemen, just my attempt at a little flippant humor; how silly I am.

Manicmama,
Thanks for posting this!
Well, I will be busy today sending the newspaper article to all legislators in my state. They are the people who have the power to change state law re protecting 'churches' under the freedom of religion statutes.

Greetings from the Newbie
by Yerusalyim ingreetings one and all, many of you will know me from rick's board, for those of you who don't here's a bit about me.
my association with the society is through my wife.
when we married she was an inactive memeber (she had disassociated herself over guilt from her divorce), after marrying me, she became active again and was reinstated.

Greetings to you, Yerusalyim :)
Welcome to the forum. Sounds like you have had an interesting life, friend.
I'm in your 'camp' re not giving the Borg the power to paste a label on you.Note: Dear Flower,
I've never been DA's or DF'd...and prefer to keep it this way. Some feel differently, and want to make a clean break, so they submit a 'letter of disassocation' to their local congregation; which, as you know, is then read to the cong. The result is that you are then put in the same class as a DF'd individual. And, as a consequence, for the most part, all will shun you totally...per Society orders (Watchtower 9/81).
Frankly, I simply don't like giving them the power to label me in any fashion. But, also, by not being 'tagged' it allows me to keep some contact with family members...who may show a little more leniency...as long as you are not formally labeled.

Flower,
Oh my, bet you were embarrassed; I know I would have been...there's such a thing as going too far!
Joelbear,
We NeVeR had 'coffee breaks' - now you've got me wondering about our 42 year-old PO who was single. No, wait, I recall he started 'hitting' on me when I turned 18...Zeeesh!
TR,
Many years ago, while house-hunting, I came across a home with a 'For Sale by Owner' sign. When I went to the door to knock, I realized the place was vacant...but found more than a dozen
W&A's between the storm and front doors. Bet someone marked a lot of placements with a nonexistent householder, eh!!!!
