I've actually read a study on this - it's modeled after some of the eating habits in ancient Tibet. In theory it will probably work, but I know of very few people who have that kind of willpower - especially with the accessibility of food everywhere.

WERE YOU CONSIDERED A GOOD EXAMPLE?
by minimus inhave you ever had to deal with the thought that you really weren't that good of an example?
perhaps, the congregation was encouraged to pioneer or reach out for bethel service or go to seldom worked territory, etc.
and when you applied, you were told that you didn't qualify.

I tried and I tried, pioneering etc., even brought people in the truth (not too happy about that one now) - but, still I didn't quite fit the mold. Whenever they had a program on the platform highlighting the upstanding pioneers, etc., I was always at my seat.

Is there a better way than disfellowshipping?
by barry inand can the wt learn from other churches?.
the general conference of adventists held in toronto canada.
no adventist will ever be disfellowshiped again.. voted to change the term "disfellowshiped" to 'remeoved from membership".

Disfellowshipping and shunning - for those of us who are victims - is a horrid experience. How can a group that preaches love from a God that is supposedly love have a teaching that anyone who disagrees with them is not worthy of existance. In other words, they don't take you outside to stone you, but they'll destroy your self-worth instead.

I thought the ghost thing was a load of crap too, until this year.
I had an old friend from my high school days pass into my life that had what I would define as having a cluttered mind in conjunction with some evil qualities including strange delusions. This person moved nearby and was in constant contact with me. At this very time my house became full of "ghosts", bothering me to the point that I couldn't be alone in the house. Once this person moved away the "ghosts" stopped, for which I am very grateful. I am usually such a level-headed person and this was such a dark period in my life.

WHAT'S THE WORSE THING YOU DID AT THE MEETING?
by Mary ini would have to say the worst (aka: funniest) thing i ever did at a meeting was when i sat with the circuit overseer and his wife (many moons ago......) .
anyway, he was really prim and proper and she was of course, a very submissive wife who barely spoke without her husbands permission.
anyway, he goes to the platform and starts off by asking th audience: who was ahab?

I was always just a little bit "out there". Besides laughing (one time my poor dad said orgasm instead of organism when reading the watchtower - my mother and I thought we would die laughing), I dared a snooty prissy girl at the hall to go in the mens room, sit on the urnal, and pee. Well, she did it and she got caught. Her strict parents were mortified that their precious girl had been defiled by the "men's toilet", I got off with a light brush from the wooden spoon. So I totally thought it was worth it.
