Most disgusting thing from Watchtower Corp.
by spectromize inone thing that really doesn't add up with the organization and their registrating to be a corp.(yes i have to put this in quote sorry it's called non-profit corp.) is the very fact that they play in the worldly system of things while they tell you to keep out of it.
(while they see nothing wrong in themselves playing the stock market with other peoples money) think about it where did jesus say to register god's organization as a corporation?.
furthermore if you were living in jesus' period of time who would be the president-vice-president-secratary- treasurer-shareholders...?.

Jesus' Answer for a Sign
by Friend inthe following was originally written as part of a response to criticisms against the belief that the synoptic gospel contains jesus' answer for a sign of his parousia that is realized today.
some of the language is then necessarily a bit unusual because of the originally intended audience.
lately this subject has come up in other circles so i chose to also post the comments to this forum.

Yep Friend, thats about it!
Have you read COJ's 'sign of the last days' at all BTW?, what did you think of it?.I was going to order it a few days ago but i just haven't got the stomach for reading anymore Anti-dub stuff.I was interested intially in Coj's views on MAT 24 etc...since he is a Christian and quite smart, i thought he might have some really good ideas to throw around!.

100 foreskins for your daughter
by Zep inthought dating and marriage was tough in the year 2000...well just check out what david had to go through.. david wants to marry michal, sauls daughter.so whats he have to do?.
samuel 18:25-28. at that saul said: "this is what you men will say to david, "the king has delight, not in marriage money, but in a hundred foreskins of the philistines".
so david rose and struck down among the philistines two hundred men, and came bringing their foreskins and giving them in full number to the king to form a marriage alliance with the king.. lol

Moment of Truth/ Cognitive Dissonance
by Zep inso how long have all you guyz here been apostates anyway, just curious?.i mean, it must be kind of cool to reflect and think...."well, heck, i'm a damned freaking apostate" or altleast a closet apostate, of which most of you are, i think?, right?.yeah, such a cool label is "apostate" huh!.but i'm interested, just how did all here personnally come to realise 'the truth' aint really that?, what set you on that track and made you look outside the bounds of wt literature into so-called apostate areas.. and what finally convinced you that its all just a heap of nonsense?
and forced you to shockingly conclude you had been living a lie?.what did it do to you at that moment, i mean, how did you deal with this blatant self admission that the wt was wrong?
did it crack you up or what...or did you just laugh it off or something?..

Path,
Then I got the internet. So I type in JW's and chance upon H20 (lol).
Isn't that always the way.I stumbled into that joint just for a joke LOL...and then i just got into it all.BTW, my situation is weird WEIRD weird. As you stated, i aint no-Dub but...I know more about them than any other religion...even the one i was born into, of which i know next to nothing about.I read from 15-20/21 (thereabouts) heaps, practically all the WT and Awake mags. And i did the bible study and a few meetings here and there...So i basically know all the stuff and essentially took on their belief system.I really knew a lot in the end!
You know 'Cults' work on a very emotional level...people say it takes years to instill the JW mindset into yah, and thats probably true...but i also think converting someone is a very sort of hit and miss kind of thing.I think, if you give someone the right promises and make it look all great and truthful, and the persons mind is geared right at that time...you can convert them in an instant.I think thats what happened to me, i read some magazines....'Bam' i read the 1914 crap and the rest of the prophecies and then add to that the ressurection promise and you can get sucked in, in an instant.I have a friend, hes much older than i was ...but its happened the same way to him i feel. So, once you get hooked, your guard is down, you can be given any info, however dumb,,,,because you trust them now.I read WT magazines like it was very trustworthy source in the end.I'd read an article and not even bother checking the references..."Oh, the 70year prophecy is perfect, dont bother reading Jeremiah to check it out...if they say the 70yr period ended in 537 then thats when it ended, how could anyone be wrong about that".So after that intial moment where they grab your trust and then feed any info....and you are just repeating over and over in your mind all the JW beliefs which serves to strengthen that intial trust... your belief just becomes Habit. You read WT makes like buddhists recite a mantra, everything just becomes re-inforced and stronger everytime you repeat it, like a robot. Its a joke.Buts thats what WT mags do.
So i go to few meetings and breeze through a study and then drop the issue completely by 20.By then i was thinking, well its the TRUTH (yep i thought they had the TRUTH)...but, i'll just live a worldy life and come back and anaylse everthing to death later.Maybe, i had a mindest of JW youth who live a double life. They say they know its the truth but act contrary to that belief... i mean, hows that possible?... yeah but it happens.I essentially established a belief but just didn't live by it.But it still underpinned my belief in God.So after many years, with all that dub stuff eventually pushed to the back of my mind...I go into h20, just to see what dubs are up to....like i said, it was a joke. Then i decide to anaylse to a degree the Dub beliefs that i had taken on, expecting (really) that i'd find it was the truth, and in doing so i bring it all back to the fore in my mind again, all the dub beliefs. But What did it for me, convinced me otherwise that the weren't the truth was reading the false dates list over at Osarsif done by AF...Before that, i read a lot of other stuff on 1914 but it didn't have the impact that the false dates did.I actually had to read a fair bit to knock the Dub beliefs to pieces, owing to my earlier involvment. So 'Bam', after i read AF's stuff, just like that, they cant be true anymore....then i start denying God exists and read all sorts of Atheistic stuff till i dont believe at all...it actually drove me round the bend a little and made me feel a little sick...the idea of no God is a big thought.I dont know, i dont really care now...i just use sarcasm to laugh it off ...this God stuff is still sort of hanging in the air though.I actually just got a book from the library called "to hell with God"(what a title eh!)...yeah, so the spiritual search continues, only in a less vigorous manner ...I sure haven't got the problems you guys have, since you still have ties with the Borg.So now... i'm just hanging on a Dub board for some reason LOL?????!!!!!.
I appreciate you original post BTW, i didn't really read it through till last night since i got the vibe that i had come in for some heat... I thought, "oh yeah i shouldn't have posted that, Zep's in trouble...again" LOL."I'm gunna get bagged big time here" LOL.But your post was interesting!.I like reading the human dimension to things, i read a lot about the impact of DFing over at h20 before i launched into a study of dub doctrine. The DF articles were very surprising to me at first...i really learnt very little about Dfing and DAing & shunning during my time at KH and reading the WT....it was a background issue, one of those hidden things, hidden from newbies and you dont really understand it until your in too deep and it personnally affects you in some way! yeah!!!!!interesting! -

The fact is that it is reeeealy sad
I know Joel, i really do.I remember going to a few meetings and seeing an old lady who lives near me and she had obviously been converted and believed it all.Back then i thought Dubs where pretty spot on with their biblical views, you'd never get me speak against them.BUT...a few months ago i drove past her on a Tue or Thurs night...she was waiting to be picked up by some dubs to go off to one of her meetings.I had been reading heaps of Anti Christian and anti Dub stuff at the time. When i saw just standing there, she's well into her 70's BTW...i just realised how hopless it all was and shes hoping in a lie. That was kind of sad. She's at the end of her life hoping to taken off to paradise real soon and its isn't going to happen...atleast not the way dubs say!
Path, No fosters down here...its more Victorian Bitter for me.Maybe some home brew...we made some a couple of years, it turned out OK apart from the lumpy bits of yeast, but you scoop them out with your spoon!.
King cans huh!, is that what you call them...they call 'em Tubes down here.Australia is divided into 2 halves, North and South...like the U.S.I'm in the south, where we drink different beer and play different sport. In north they play Rugby League and south its Aussie Rules. And theres a different beer for each sport.
BTW, lots of beer drinking will be happening tommorow down here...its Grand final day for Aussie rules. Its like Super Bowl Sunday only happens on Saturday.

This part was supposed to be kind of sarcastic BTW.'Such a cool label is apostate huh'= what a load of bollocks, what a load of crap!.I mean, for label its such a joke, it shouldn't have any impact all...it so lame and atiquated. No one outside dubs would even know what it means...but...it does.....Labels negate thinking. Why is someone going to hell, its because they are an Apostate. Why is a religion bad, because its a cult etc etc.
I'm a dog BTW...a worldy dog.Dubs would probably call me that and think its an insult....but i like it.
I'm a damn dog.Probably off to hell from the things i've said here, off to the 2nd death...yippie! oh well, what can you do!

GTR
by Zep ini've almost finished gtr, just finished reading jw ideas on the 70yr prophecy in 'let thy kingdom come'.seriously, i read most of the 1914 stuff over at osarsif a few months back...and that was pretty good.but coj, hes blow the gentile times right out of the water, utterly destroys it.
i use to me amazed at the 7 times interpretation of jw's, it was proof to me that they had the truth or the answers as far as the bible is concerned, what a joke...unbelievable.i get the feel from reading this book that the 1914 stuff is just bound to topple in the next ten years.after reading this book (almost) its just incomprehensible to me how dubs could hold onto it.the head hunchos in brooklyn must be aware of this book, some of them must have read it?....they must be aware of how stupid their interpretions are.but then again.... i think, when they get rid of this date 1914 ....they will find it even harder to convert people, as if it isn't hard enough.1914 gives them a powerful tool, they can say 'we predicted the future' therefore we are gods chosen, its one of the things that captured my imagination when i was a kid and made me pay attention to them than i should have.....same too, with a friend of mine who has recently fallen in with them.i think its converting power is very powerful and would rank highly in the converts mind just going by personnal experience.without it they will not have the same power unless they can find a new prophecy to hold up as proof of divine approval.
