this site was and remains instrumental in assisting people that want to leave the jw's.. there has been political discussion here for some time now, a good couple of years and it makes me feel a little uneasy.
i just opened up the site for the first time in some weeks, of the 10 posts being discussed, 4 were by the same poster, about politics, promoting their right wing beliefs.. this has been the trend for some time now, the same name behind a peppering of posts stirring the right v left of politics.. i remain forever grateful to the site and it's founders simon & angharad, i appreciate that simon shares some of these these political beliefs.
it would be a shame to see the site evolve from a place for jw freedom of thought and escape, to political squabbling, that the world is frankly tired of right now.. just to clarify, politics is my hobby, whilst my friends read the football scores, i'm reading polling data.
Snare my question wasn’t an example of passive aggressive. After 20 years I would find it difficult to believe you still needed healing. You made the comment so I asked if you still felt the need to be here for healing.
Some people, not necessarily you, will always need to feel that they need therapy because of the Witnesses. After 20 years I would hope most people would not feel the need for healing here. We have to move on and learn from our experiences and help others if possible.
i like subjects that delve into the history of the religion and proofs that the witnesses are not the true religion.
i’m not so much into apologists saying we need to go to meetings, especially if the poster looks like a scammer trying to get ex jws going.
what subjects interest you ?
I always appreciated information from Bethelites, ex COs and people like that. That’s why Ray Franz’ books were so eye opening.

Regarding religion, if you said all elders are power hungry men, I’d vehemently disagree with you and if you called me vile names I might respond in kind. It’s not just politics that can create issues. I’ve had many JW conversations with people here who have come across as elite jerks. Whether it’s politics, religion or anything else, if you are abusive or rude to someone you might just get back some of your own medicine

I’ve read some political British threads here. I’m not as familiar with the information so I don’t typically comment. So I move on to a subject I like. Problem solved.

In 20 years this site has discussed every JW subject. They still continue to talk about the religion. As ex JWs we see the world as not only related to Witness World. Life goes on. Other subjects in life are considered. We don’t have to be confined in our thinking. The world is a big interesting place.
today, i was watching a tv show and a black celebrity in quebec said that his latest incident of racial profiling was being asked questions by the police as he was walking in a quiet neighborhood at 2am while wearing a hoody.
then the other guest next to him validated his claim saying that she, as a white women, was never stopped like this by the police.
i became very frustrated and agitated.
You might be hypersensitive due to your past experiences. Try to move on. It doesn’t do you any good to let the witnesses continue to affect you negatively. Easier said than done but it’s the only way to move on.
