what was your kingdom hall like when it came to overweight witnesses?

i remember counseling some people on their drinking habits.

a few snickered that if we were going to counsel them because they have had way too many at a wedding reception, what about very overweight witnesses that have a lifestyle of overindulgence?

Speaking of buffets, there is a place in Rhode Island and I forget the name, but I believe it’s like $150 plus for all you can eat from lobsters, prime rib, crab legs, you name it, they have it. I could never justify spending that much money for a meal just to gouge myself.

what is it about some jws that they can't see the flip-flops of the wt's changing doctrine?.

some of the flip-flops involved the death of many of it's members, and it was not even biblical based.

yet for some reason they can't seem to grasp the significance of the matter.

Your dad called you. I found this interesting. He either was interested in the opposing views that you held or he was calling with helping you in view.

My dear mom was a true believer but every once in a while she would express being disturbed by a Watchtower point of view or elder’s opinion. To me, I figured she might be ripe for hearing negative things about The Truth. We would talk many many times and I would put her in a corner and she just couldn’t handle it. Eventually I seldom mentioned these things. Why?? Because I realized I couldn’t out argument her. She would know throw 50 years of believing what she felt was truth down the toilet. Rather than pursue the religion I realized she was old and I would rather cherish her for being my mother.

In the end, it’s all up to the person. For some, logic isn’t the issue.

Truth, some people do overeat and they aren’t obese. Some people diet and eat healthy but still have junk in the trunk. I think it’s the reason why elders stay away from going after anybody on gluttony.

I do think there are lots of people who really do not enjoy many other normal pleasures in the Organization so the one thing they look forward to is food.

Our presiding overseer was a guy who could eat! He wasn’t fast but he was always eating! He was in excellent condition and was a great guy but I guess his metabolism allowed him to eat more than anyone I knew and never gain weight. Whenever we went on shepherding calls, the Witness knew that in order to have a good visit, get the homemade apple pie out. Lol

Shouldn’t they be disfellowshipped for gluttony??
