New light question

i was discussing with my motherinlaw last weekend the change in the 1995 "generation" doctrine,and got the usual response that it was a new light.

what started out as a little bit of fun during a long car journey actually turning into something quite sad and disturbing.

i argued that old light was obviously wrong (by their own definition), and therefore, by her reasoning she has been preaching lies.

I'm not a psychologist, but it sounds to me like you hit a nerve! WTF? That is one of the scariest things I've ever heard... maybe the mind control is more real than I thought!

Or was she having a mini-stroke? I've heard of those, although the odd way the conversation went back to normal after a while is weird...

I was thinking more along the lines of the possibilities of social renovation, redistribution of wealth, agricultural improvements, advancements in health sciences. I was trying to be optimistic.

i haven't read any of the books, but i saw the first movie.

i do some stuff that would be laballed occult by the wt, yet i didn't see any of that there.

It's a subtle promotion of a new religion emphasizing magic and ritual and learning - the overthrow of Christianity in the minds and hearts of the people and replacing it with a cult based on the mystery cults of Babylon and Egypt. Yep, the New World Order's State Religion! Sounds good to me!

Did Any Of You Ever Believe In The Explanations Of JW Prophecy?

as a born and raised jw, i was taught that not only did we have the truth but we also had the keys to understanding of bible prophecy.

i was able to explain the gentile times timetable, the reason for 1914,etc.

but there came a time when i really came to appreciate that i had no real foundation for these "truths".

I'm with cruzanheart on this one. Not only did I buy it, I believed it fervently and taught it well.

When I got up on the platform, I could debate the esoteric meanings of the greater fulfillment of the parable of the talents versus the parable of the minas. I was a JW encyclopedia, a mini-Freddie in training. Wow, I'm so lucky I'm out and can turn my brain to peaceful pursuits, like poontang.

Growing up a gay Jehovah's Witness (My Life Story)

i feel the need to express how i feel and felt about my life as a gay man.

i was brought up from birth as a jehovahs witness.

this has played a major part in my life and it has been a real struggle to get past.

To my pain and shame I used to be one those judgemental types - please forgive me, Josh, and all of you that I rejected because of their sexuality. I was raised the same way you were, the same patterns of thought, the same snap judgements, I just never had to deal with it beyond rejecting the occasional friend.

We are what we are - and if it doesn't hurt others, then it isn't a sin.

Beyond that, I can't speak for God, but I know that the deity I call Jehovah is a kind and loving one, and I'm positive that he heard your prayers for deliverance. You just didn't know what to ask for - but he has set you free from the WTS. They misrepresent him, and will be judged accordingly.

Plus, not even the old Jewish Jehovah cared about masturbation - I'm sure he would have made a law about it, He did about everything else...

As for all that you have suffered, the way to conquer it is to turn it into something good - one way that I have found useful is by being supportive to those who are enduring similar circumstances, using the painful experiences to teach others how to avoid such pain. Like the one guy who said that you were lucky to have not gotten married... so avoid getting roped into that situation... see?

All right, my friend, go in peace... Be safe, take care of others...

I agree - all the advice about just suffering bullying was absolute cow-poo! The only response to unjustified intimidation is to stand your ground, and punish the enemy, preferably with superior weaponry. After I picked up the bat and beat the bully to the ground then everybody left me alone. Get a good rep and you don't have to fight.

After the Christians started fighting back, the Romans stopped feeding them to the lions and converted.

So, what REALLY happened on September 11, a.k.a. the unknowns...???

it's getting on to almost two years since the events of september 11, and it is striking how little we know about what happened: .

we don't know the real names of any of the hijackers.. we don't know what countries they came from.. we don't know who planned and organized the terrorism.. we don't know who financed it.. we have no idea what actually happened at the pentagon (but i know a boeing 757 didn't go through this hole).

normal video tapes of and from the pentagon building, which should have shown what happened, have never been released (except for one, which poses more questions than it answers).

Don't you realize that the heat from a nuclear explosion reaches 2 million degrees? If the surface was only 800 (and who the hell was measuring that at that exact instant in time??? and HOW?) then there is a few billion calories that went missing!

Lies! The terrorists were Saudi Arabian extremists who hijacked jets and flew them into the towers, melting the steel superstructure and thereby collapsing them. End of debate. There simply is no other explanation that makes sense - no further explanation is needed unless you are seeking to justify some kind of political agenda (like driving a wedge between the Israelis and the U.S.)

Rem will back me up - Occam's razor is the tool to use to get to the heart of the matter.
