Resurrection Shuffle

one of jw "beliefs" that was and still is most confusing to me is the condition of married persons after the resurrection.

in particular, if one marriage partner dies before the big a and then gets resurrected.. its surprising how many jw's hold sacred their own private interpretation on this.. generally i found that if the marriage had been a happy one, a lot of jw's believe if the surviving marriage partner does not remarry, then they will end up back with their dead-but-back-again married partner after the resurrection.

in a normal sexual marriage relationship.. if the survivng partner does remarry however, the the old chestnut gets rolled out about people in the resurrection "will neither get married or be given in marriage.

I use to get the car group riled up over this one... always one in the group that would state "Jehovah will take care of the physical/emotional needs" - they'll be resurrected without this need.

OK - soooo, then why didn't "He" fix it so we don't get sexual desires until AFTER marriage - hmmm, would wipe out "fornication". Why would these one's be "resurrected" less than human and open up a WHOLE bunch of questions???? Since they couldn't pro-create, I assume they'll be slaves, doing the work while the rest get to "live in perfection".

Just seems to me that if Jehovah is going to create these ones without desires, he should have done it to everyone in the first place - no free will, no sin, no one "knowing" the difference.

Personally, I don't believe any of it anymore... but when I use to, I always believed that scripture only refered to the "annointed".

i was talking to my sister yesterday, who spent the weekend with our still active parents.

over the weekend, they all had dinner with another couple, who were sharing some of the "latest news.

" i am getting this second hand, but my sister is excellent at remembering exactly what was said.

Oops, don't forget the "Peace & Security" that comes first, before the downfall of false religion. I use to wonder about the "marriage of the Lamb" in heaven with all the annointed (Revelation Climax). No one has a clue whether the ones in heaven participate in the slaughter of armegeddon, or whether some of the "annointed" survive into the New System. I use to imagine that they would all die (by God's hand, like Enoch) before the Great Tribulation, so the "marriage" could take place. The "time table can get soooo confusing".

I just remember when I was a kid, I'd go through spells of waking up in the morning wondering if Armegeddon happened in the night. I use to be fascinated by the picture showing the flood, leaving all the women and children that the angels knocked-up, to die, while they just took off. Nice huh? I could never wrap my head around the idea that God kills babies and children.

It seems that it was pretty public... can't have a bad light cast on Jehovah's name. Who knows whether he was "repentant", he sounds pretty messed up, so he definitely can't be a witness. Hmmm, seems those who spoke out about child-abuse and made it public were df'd as well. As long as its "quiet", its OK.

Did anyone see the WTBTS commercial that aired? My mom called me about it, at first she thought it was a Mormon commercial, but then realized they were using scriptures. I think it must have only aired once... I've never seen it. I believe they have it on their official website.

i've always wanted to know.... why were there prostitutes in isreal?

why weren't they "stoned", and who were "visiting" them... hmmm, and why didn't they have a test for adultery for men?

i think its pretty obvious.

Lust. One of my points is, that is seems that only men of the bible get to benefit from this. They got wives, concubines, prostitutes, a "test" to make sure their wives were faithful...

in a watchtower magazine article of september 1, 1951 entitled "hated for his name", an era of 10 persecution of christians is discussed.

but just to show how little insight the writer of this article shows, it goes on stating:.

-it is said that in the year 95 alone some 40,000 suffered martyrdom.

What would "disqualify" them... lack of knowledge???? I believe all of Christ's brothers, and the early congregations, apparently didn't have the "full knowledge" of truth (like we do today, thanks to the light)...however they made it to heaven. The early congregations had problems with morality, bickering, doctrine questions, etc. but I believe it was their faith in Jesus that made the difference. I thought all early christians got the "heavenly calling" until what, 1935???? thats when us "other sheep" appeared. It use to bug me that they "know" how many of the annointed are still left. Don't many of the articles dealing with early christians (like Justin Martyr, Isaac Newton (didn't he question the trinity) etc. hint at these one's being of the heavenly calling???

Also, Rome didn't allow the Jews to stone wrong-doers, so they were "expelled" from the Synagogue (df'd)... does that mean Jesus talked to these sinners??? Could they be re-instated (I doubt it). Often df'ing is compared to Isreal putting wrong-doers to death... but we can "come back", they couldn't... hmmm - obviously I'm not busy enough at work. This much thinking hurts.

One last thought... did the wiping out of people eg. Flood, Sodom & Gomorrah, etc. ever really improve people - did they become more moral? more godly?

UN & Df'ing

i'm curious... does anyone know of situations where jw inquiring into the un have been df'd?

i did all the research and got info from the original sources (so when i show my family there's no doubt).

i wrote the society once, then got the "usual" reply (2 weeks later) - wrote again, this time pointing out specifics and wanting answers, but instead i got df'd (hmmm, 3 weeks later) for living with my sister (who was disassociated for some time, and was no big secret here in my congregation).

Thanks for the welcome. It shouldn't matter what one's standing is... aren't we suppose to be prepared to make a "defense against anyone" who questions? For me its been a building of things over the years that opened my eyes. For one (this is soooo funny) but in service (I use to be a pioneer "ahhh, ooohhhh...") I once brought up to the car group the "hypothetical" question of would you still be in the truth or pioneering if you found out armeggedon wasn't coming in your life time? Come to think of it I didn't get much of a response, just an uncomfortable silence and subject change. Anyway, when the "new light" made everyone "brighter" and we figured out a generation was no longer connected to 1914 (I wonder if its the Baby Boomers), I was thoroughly disgusted. Oh brother, I could go on and on. I think it funny that they gave such a lame excuse. Personally, I think I could have come up with something better. I would share some of them with you, but given that this site gets surfed by the WBTS, I'd hate to actually give them something plausible that they could circulate to all the congregations.

I've been silently "surfing" this site, reading and learning alot. With the UN, I went to the sites listed on the threads in here, and also "GOOGLED" main words. Then I just went to the source material on websites that was researched. I emailed the UN twice, and both times they answered within the hour. The UN website is a great source, I just printed the brochure and emailed the library (they've been getting a ton of questions because they're totally prepared to answer your questions)...

I'm not depressed about the df'ing, I'm looking forward to the rest of my life. I found that family that didn't like me supporting my sister already disowned me, and family that understood, still does.

Personally, I think this UN thing is a clincher... I mean, sit down and read the Watchtower 1991 June issues dealing with "Their Refuge - A Lie" - they're bashing religions that are apart of the UN 3 months before they joined. Part of why I did the full research myself was because at first I didn't "believe" it - I thought it was apostate lies (liars, liars, pants on fire) soooo, I figure no harm done in checking it out for myself. Hmmmm, no harm... what a wake up call. Thanks.;)

I wrote the Society once, then got the "usual" reply (2 weeks later) - wrote again, this time pointing out specifics and wanting answers, but instead I got Df'd (hmmm, 3 weeks later) for living with my sister (who was disassociated for some time, and was no big secret here in my congregation). I still haven't got an answer from the WTBTS. They based the Df'ing of Sept '81 Watchtower (hmmm, whatever happened to Watchtower 1974 pg 470???), but failed to read the following study article dealing with relatives who live with you... also I believe the elders manual makes it clear that relatives are only df'd if they have "spiritual assn" or "condone the wrongdoing" of which I haven't done and they never accused me of, they "got me" on eating a meal. They took all of 5 min. to let me know their decision.
