Need info on the 3 year elder rule.

so i have read that if an elder commited porneia (or other serious sin) while serving and it came to light years later, he would not necisarily be removed.

i mentioned this to my wife a while back, and she refused to believe it.

is this policy still in effect?

Flock book, pg. 38 , paragraph 19 states:

" If it comes to light or an appointed brother confesses that he has committed a disfellowshipping offense years in the past : The body of elders may determine HE CAN CONTINUE TO SERVE if the following is true : The immorality or other serious wrongdoing occured more than a few years ago, and he is genuinely repentant, recognizing that he SHOULD HAVE come forward immediately when he sinned. "

So, my question is: why can't a Publisher get away with committing secret sins using the same rule?

@ red: How about killing 99.99% of all animals in the great flood, in order to kill a few humans? What about killing 100% of plants on the planet in the same process?

Maybe it was part of god's "helping them to adapt" methodology.

No, I believe God helps one to adapt to one's situation, he doesn't take one out of the situation.

Then why do humans need god?

Since he only allows nature to take its course (according to your opinion) and does nothing to help mankind progress or raise their level of awareness beyond their current state, then god is useless baggage.

Excatly the point. If valuing life as sacred and a higher moral standard was the alleged foundation of the Israelite god, the taking of life on a grand scale is teaching a far different lesson.

Fortunately for all of us living now, Vidquin, the world in general has progressed well beyond the mindset you defend. I, for one, am glad that modern society "judges" genocide and brutality as morally reprehensible and will not tolerate it.

Do you long for the days when you could raid a neighboring village and kill everyone for plunder? Modern society must be hell for you.
