H-W: You are obligated to immediately believe and embrace any doctrine or prediction they publish, even if there is no basis to support it, but when that doctrine clashes with reality and has to be modified, they are ready to be infallible all over again.

As Freddie Franz finally admitted on the witness stand, after much resistance, in the 1954 Douglas Walsh trial, "unity" in belief for JWs is the prime concern, not truth. All JWs must accept the error of current WT teachings in order to be unified. In other words, they all have to be wrong as a group in order to be right with Jehovah. Incidentally, Franz also stated that Jehovah is the "editor" of WT literature, not men, which re-opens the Pandora's Box of circular, "we aren't false prophets", arguments.

Truly an ironic stance from a religion that calls itself "The Truth". Shouldn't truth and facts be the prime concern, not unified wrongness??

But surely, you would've also seen his JW.Org tote bag, umbrella, ruler, cuff links, necktie, notepad, and iPad screensaver even if you missed the lapel pin, right? LOL.

The only conclusion we can arrive at is: all of Watchtower's false prophecies/failed dates are god's fault:

March 1993) (note: notice how when things go south, suddenly it's not Watchtower's fault but "Jehovah's Witnesses" fault as a group).

If you ask any JW what prophecies the WTS has made / got right then they will invariable say something about predicting 1914.

Plagiarized from the Adventists.

So, at best, WT can only claim they proclaimed a false prophecy already proclaimed (also failed) by another false religion.

And, as you said Simon, everything WT now attaches to the 1914 date was originally taught as occuring starting in 1874. 1914 was supposed to be Armageddon, not the beginning of the Last Days.

But, in true WT form, they then dismiss Deut. 18 and their own claims of teaching divinely originated predictions as not applying to WT's false prophecies:

There are some who make spectacular predictions of the world’s end to grab attention and a following, but others are sincerely convinced that their proclamations are true. They are voicing expectations based on their own interpretation of some scripture text or physical event. They do not claim that their predictions are direct revelations from Jehovah and that in this sense they are prophesying in Jehovah’s name. Hence, in such cases, when their words do not come true, they should not be viewed as false prophets such as those warned against at Deuteronomy 18:20-22. In their human fallibility, they misinterpreted matters. --March 22, 1993 Awake

of couse the governing body would never encourage the brothers to go to unsafe areas like detroit or israel.

sadly the brothers would believe it if the governing body told them drinking cyanide was safe.. .

The GB also said it was safe to continue to hold meetings in the Philipines during the last typhoon that rolled through. 19 JWs paid with their lives for following that sage advice when the KH was destroyed while the meeting was in progress.

it amazes me!.

witnesses go on about how "blessed we are to have the website and all the content from jehovah etc".

but i have been noticing the parallels between jws and the mormons!.

the uniqueness of the JW.ORG website is the ever growing and unmatched number of languages wherein a massive amount of spiritual content can be obtained.

I don't see any "spiritual content" on JW.Org. What section is that in?

BS is BS, no matter how many languages it's translated into....
