  i guess 99.9 % of ex-jw's here could have predicted as much .

  armageddon didn't happen in 1914. it didn't happen in 1925. it didn't happen in 1975. and it did not happen in 2014. since the wt society first predicted a world's end when their organization started in 1879 - 126 years have passed which according to any dictionary in any human language 126 years comprises of 4 separate generations each totaling 30 years each.

  plus 6 years into a 5th generation.

  i heard about a new video where the watchtower has a single mother and her child eating millet or rice with almost no material possessions worried about donating to the world wide work.

  now most religions are trying to donate to third-world countries, not the watchtower profit enterprise, they are willing to take a families last milk cow so their leaders can spend those funds fighting pedophile lawsuits!.

  every place the watchtower builds you read about the angry citizens having to pick up their tax bills because the watchtower only takes!

  Armageddon did happen... invisibly. All things have occured just as WT predicted. If you can't see it, obviously you lack faith in "Jehovah's Organization".

  Evidence is only for the weak.

  BTW- if my math is correct, 1879-2015 is 134 years.

  I guess my biggest question is why the safety was off

   This hasn't been determined yet. The police investigators are looking into it.  Maybe the safety was on and by some stroke of misfortune her son switched it off.

  Yes. Agreed.

  Until we figure out how to take making mistakes out of the human equation, this kind of thing will happen... unfortunately, whether its with a firearm, a car, a power tool, a motorcycle, a burner on a hot stove, fire. Hindsight is always 20/20.  

  I think fiddler made a good point:

   I had four little ones by the time I was 29 so know full well how crazy and distracting shopping with them can be (which is why I generally didn't).  

  Perhaps this story will make others with similar circumstances reassess their situation.

  bg: I would argue, then, that Jesus should have chosen the Anabaptists, and particularly, the Mennonites.

   

  Or, the Adventists.

  After all, a good portion of what Russell accepted and promoted as Bible "truth" was ripped off from the Adventists wholesale. Jesus could have cut out the middle man (Russell) and simply chosen Team A. As it is, Russell simply duplicated the same errors via lots of fantasizing and speculation that led the Adventists to "The Great Disappointment". Jesus could've chosen the originals and gotten a far better (in context) end-result than he got with WT.

   I wasn't even going to comment on this thread as this flavor of topic inevitably, and quickly, spirals into polarized combat (no pun intended) which I do not want to be a part of.

  I do not have a problem with anyone expressing their opinions. What I do have a problem with is individuals who regularly marginalize others as "psychotic" idiots, or in some other not-so-subtle way categorizing entire groups of people as mentality deficient (in this case, gun owners), yet the accusers have no problem making jokes about a tragic death, even implying the person 'had it coming', and cannot even find it in their heart to feel a liitle bit sorry for the victim- all the while bragging about how superior they are to pathetic gun owners.

  I wholeheartedly disagree. The tone was set with the OP:

  I agree, irresponsibility with a gun is inexcusable. However, I must point out that the article does state, after police officials reviewed the store's security video, they determined the incident was an "accident", not a result of being "irresponsible".The article also says the woman had a CCW permit, which means a few things:

  1) she had to take training classes to obtain her CCW permit. This is hardly what an irresponsible person does. 

  2) the gun was most likely in her purse 24 hours a day, so having it with her in a Walmart while shopping would not be unusual.

  3) her child obviously got into her purse while she wasn't looking. Regrettable for sure, but it cannot be immediately labelled "irresponsible".

  People are so quick to judge. No one here knows why she owned a gun or obtained a CCW permit. Was she raped in the past and lives with constant fear it could happen again? Was she a victim of domestic violence? Had her life been threatened recently? Was she assaulted at one time and determined she never wanted to be a victim again? I don't know, and neither does anyone else. To immediately judge a person as an idiot, a psycho or an irresponsible person who deserved to be culled from humanity betrays many things, but empathy is not one of them.

  It's all too easy to view things in retrospect and determine what "should have" been done, then declare something as an "avoidable" accident. My guess is if this young mother had been rundown by a drunk driver or bludgeoned to death by a burglar, the same people who make light of her death would be very empathetic. But, being that she is nothing more than a filthy, degenerate (albeit, legal) gun owner, who cares? One less idiot on this planet, right?

  @ Vidiot: Lying is cheating, and if you have to cheat to defend your religion, your religion doesn't deserve to be defended. 

   

  But if you lie for Jehovah, "the god of truth", it's perfectly acceptable. Just cloak it under the euphemism of "Theocratic War Strategy" and you're good to go. 

   

   A name like "Toole" is always funny.

  Of course they were. Everything except WT is "Satan's organization". The world empire of false religion includes Christendom.

   

  The other laughable part of the quote above is this:

   "... it began its fulfillment in the year 1919 when the remnant of spiritual Israel came out of Satan’s organization and started earnestly looking for Jehovah and his goodness."

   

  Uh, WT's whole argument is that they already had to be doing this up to and including 1914 when Jesus began inspecting all the religions of the world to determine which one would operate his publishing, pedophile protection and real estate development empire.

  CT Russell taught that Armageddon was coming in 1914, so obviously qualifying as Jesus' CEO would require that his organization had all their ducks in a row prior to the big global sweep-up day. WT revised all the pre-1914 events to aplly after 1914 when all of CTR's predictions failed. 

  How is it that WT didn't even begin to search for Jehovah until 1919, yet Jesus already allegedly approved of them four years earlier? Furthermore, WT claims that Jesus' approval had fallen on CT Russell in the 1876-1879 period to "revive long-lost Bible truths".  By WT's claim it, and it alone, was the only group that was paying attention and looking to 1914, and it was the only group "announcing Jehovah's Kingdom".

  The above quote implies that WT was NOT looking for Jehovah or his goodness for the first 40 years of it's existence. So, why would Jesus approve of them more than any other religion???
