new july 2013 awake says this on page 3:.
"there is a 14 percent greater probability that a person over 60 years of age will die on his birthday rather than on other days.".

i was just reading the thread on the secret disfellowshipping of the menlo park elders.
obviously the society didn't want the bad press and was hoping to sweep it under the carpet that is why it was secret and the defendants weren't there.
to me this is not only unfair but totally bizarre and weird.how can some one be disfellowshiped and yet not know that they are disfellowshiped.
"I keep seeing this Menlo Park thing what is the story please"
Zeb- you see at the top of this page, next to "Active Topics", a tab that says "search"?
Click on "Search" and type in "Menlo Park".
Instead of waiting around for someone to do your work for you, you can have an answer within seconds.
Amazing, isn't it?

This birthday article was so important it pre-empted the planned article for this month that was weeks in the making:
"The Mexican Sombrero- Harmless Straw Hat, or a Tool of Satan?"
Certainly, JWs are receiving "meat in due season" in these final days of the last days.

New WT book soon to be released:
"Millions Now Not Having Fun Will Never Die"
A complete explanation of how being bored to death actually saves your life.

Statistically, there's probably a better chance you'll eat cake, drink alcohol or place yourself in close proximity to open flames on your birthday too. So what?
I wonder how many people die on their wedding anniversary compared to the other 364 days of the year?
WT should outlaw anniversaries too, just to be safe.
Maybe WT should just outlaw fun. That way no one will ever die.
who the el' is el' ?.
the original god of israel was el, not yahweh, as is evident in the patriarchal narratives: the name isra-el means el rules, not yahweh rules that would be isra-yahu.
(bellah, 2011, p. 287).
"Quite a few scholars assert that Moses was the one that introduced Yahweh worship to the Israelites"
So, what are you saying? Moses went to El in a handbasket? He was found in a basket in the Ni-El River, right?
Is this why Christians, at Christmas time, sing "No El, No El" ?

- watchtower study articles 15 july 2013. .
as most people will know, the watchtower magazine is the principle publication used by the watch tower society (wts) to teach its own brand of religious doctrine to those known as jehovah's witnesses (jws).
why is the 15 july 2013 watchtower so important?
Oubliette: But we're not allowed to be the judge. The GB has already made that judgment for us. All we need to do is: Listen, Obey and Be Blessed!
I'm sorry, you are right! Intelligence, logic and critical questioning always seem to get in the way of WT direction. What was I thinking?
"Listen, obey and be blessed" should always have a footnote attached to it: "shut off your brain, do what you're told little drone, all so you won't get disciplined by WT".
Thinking: BAD
Gullible: GOOD
believers know that everything is in gods hands.
this is one of the pillars of their faith.. .
if believers want anything to happen, they pray to god.. why?.
As George Carlin said in one of his standup routines:
'if everything is God's will, then why pray? If he doesn't want the thing to happen that you're praying for, it's not going to happen. If it's God's will that something occurs that you don't want to occur- it doesn't matter! Pray all you want, god is going to do whatever he wants to regardless of your desires. If "God's will" is the determining factor, then why pray about anything?'
Think of how many millions or billions of times the faithful have prayed the Lord's Prayer, asking for God's Kingdom to come. JWs always pray for the End to come as quickly as possible. It's all for nothing! Beg all you want, nothing is going to happen unless god wills it and it's on his time schedule.
Prayer is one of the great contradictions, and delusions, of religion.
To your point:
Isn’t prayer taking matters into one's own hands? What, god doesn’t quite get it so we have to help him understand what we need?
Isn’t the very act of prayer a contradiction of faith?
YES.
And here I thought it was going to be because he's "god's sole channel of communication on earth".
Damn! Wrong again.
if you are studying with a jehovah's witness there is a .
very valid reason why you should refrain from having anything to .
do with the watchtower society.. .
whathappened said: If you are studying with Jehovah's Witnesses you should indeed stop immediately. This is because you will save yourself from being shunned by those who claimed to love you should you ever decide to leave the organization.
----
You make a good point. The sad truth is, a person can/will be shunned who has never been baptized as a JW. There are many members here who were never been baptized yet have been officially shunned by their family and former JW friends for not accepting "the truth".
Whether a person has only been casually associated with the JWs or is baptized and has faded or been disfellowshipped, the end result is the same- shunning. There is no dignified way to leave this religion.

Scriptures that Jehovah's Witnesses stay away from when they explain their " Noo Lite "
and scripture that describes them best

Those are excellent scriptures you cited. Additionally, the core scripture WT uses to justify "new light"- Prov. 4:18- is not even talking about "revealed truth". The context makes that unmistakably clear. It's a classic case of cherry-picking to make the Bible say whatever WT wants it to say.
Not one Bible commentary I've read interprets Prov. 4:18 as teaching progressive "new light" doctrine.
