a top jehovah's witnesses' world leader has bemoaned politicians' failure to fulfill campaign promises.. stephen lett, who gave a keynote speech at the on-going convention held at levy mwanawasa stadium in ndola, said politicians needed to meet the aspirations of people who vote them into public offices.. meanwhile, conversion overseer john mashilipa has urged fellow witnesses to respect the government of the day, obedient and continue remaining non-partisan.. in the keynote address streamed live from solwezi district in the north-western province, mr lett, one of the seven members of the world governing body said electorates expected much from the people they vote for.. "there is need for politicians to fulfill their promises to their voters once they assumed power," he said.. he observed that most politicians failed to fulfill promises to their voters who had high expectations.. "politicians usually promise a moon and not deliver to their promises, this is disappointing to the voters who have high expectations," he said.. mr mashilipa said believers needed to seek god's kingdom which he said never fails, unlike human governance.. this year's conversion attracted a historic attendance of more than 40,000 people from across the five districts in the province namely; ndola, kitwe, luanshya, mufulira, kalushi and chambishi.. gathered under the theme 'keep seeking first god's kingdom', witnesses filled the stadium and those who could not find seats monitored proceedings from outside.

Of course, he doesn't mention god's govt. hasn't done a damn thing for the first 100 years it has existed (or 140 years if you go by CT Russell/GB 1.0 numbers). At least the government in Zambia provides basic services to its people.
Human government: 1
God's government: 0
hi, i am also a practicing jehovah's witness and very proud of it,to say the very-very least..!
i am a middle-aged man with many decades of being a witness of jehovah god in england.. this important letter is personally to you, just as many of the bible's 88 letters are to be taken personal by you the reader.
i am writing to you to urge you to take stock of your life, think what your future holds for you.
Sparks: as an active JW, why are you proselytizing? Don't you know your ministry now only consists of telling us to go to JW.Org??
Outlaw: You can times the time it took you to write it,by every comment on this thread..2 hrs x 20 posts = 40hrs..You get the Idea..
Sparks has accumulated enough time in only a few minutes to qualify as an "auxilliary pioneer". In a few minutes he will be a "full-time Pioneer". I doubt he will record on his time slip that he got his hours by visiting apostate websites. He will keep that on the down low.

If you stop reading this letter, you are either a coward, or full of hate for Jehovah or His people, or just plain stupid and just enjoy reading posts where others are just fueling your excuses to not return to Jehovah
Yes, you are definitely an active JW: Judgmental, critical, condemning, working from a position of total ignorance.
Tell me: what credibility do you have in telling us to return to and listen to WT, "god's organization"?
YOU don't even follow the Governing Body's explicit counsel to avoid "apostate" websites.
Why should we obey the GB when you, an active JW, do not??
Hypocrite.

"a 9-year-old girl learning to fire a submachine gun accidentally killed her instructor at a shooting range when the weapon recoiled over her shoulder, according to arizona authorities.
another reason to go against those arguing that young children should be taught how to use guns.
BB: While I often agree with your general observations, your position on guns is always pro, no matter the circumstances.
Maybe you should re-read my posts. This discussion in not about being pro-gun or not; it's about whether it was appropriate for a 9 year-old to be allowed to handle a fully automatic weapon.
As Simon and others said at the outset, they wouldn't really have a problem if this girl was being allowed to shoot a hunting rifle, a .22 or a shotgun. The issue from the start has revolved around the Uzi. As I have said numerous times, and which you and others turn a deaf ear to, is some serious errors in judgment were made in this case. I watched the video. Obviously she was not qualified to shoot this gun and the parents and instructor should have seen that and opted out of the exercise. What part of this do you not understand? Show me one place in this thread where I've said I think children should operate full auto firearms and these parents and the instructor made a wise decision.
Read my posts instead of reading into them.

to bohm: I've already answered you. You've chosen to ignore my answers completely and you're repeating a mantra over a dead issue. Dead becuse it never existed in the first place except in your imagination. Move on.
1) take meds for your megalomania and delusions of grandeur.. .
suggestions welcome.. .
dd.
I would suggest, if anyone is so unsure that they cannot take their beliefs being held up to the spotlight, they keep them to themselves.
Boil it all down and that is the core issue.

bohm: Yes, it appears I may be confusing you with ADCMS from page 2 whom my comment was directed to.
How does my simply giving a synopsis of the facts of the incident get translated into the idea I agree with what was done?
Maybe spend more time reading my posts and less time reading into them.

When I was in Junior High School in the late 1960's I had to tell the Gym Teacher that I could not wrestle in Gym class because it was against my religion.
You should've gone to Bethel. I've heard "wrestling" was quite popular there...still is. Wrestling is not against your religion in Bethel.

sparky: Has any goddamned stupid publisher posted a photo on instagram of them placing a tract with a starving homeless person dressed in rags and emaciated from hunger?
Homeless people do not have computers to log on to JW.Org, nor do they have money to donate to WT's real estate ventures. Giving them a tract, despite it's so-called purpose of guiding them to "truth" and "everlasting life", is a waste of WT resources.
Plus, a picture taken of a homeless person holding a tract doesn't get a JW the same attention from their JW peers as The Hulk holding a tract.
Only those with Internet access and money deserve life.

Caedes claimed this was not an accident. Well, if not an accident, then it was deliberate. Is anyone going to go down that path?
For those here who don't own a dictionary (bohm, caedes- listen up), here is the definition of "accident":
.
1 a : an unforeseen and unplanned event or circumstance
b : lack of intention or necessity : chance <met by accident rather than by design>
2 a : an unfortunate event resulting especially from carelessness or ignorance
b : an unexpected and medically important bodily event especially when injurious <a cerebrovascular accident>
c : an unexpected happening causing loss or injury which is not due to any fault or misconduct on the part of the person injured but for which legal relief may be sought.
-------------------
If this incident does not fall within the definition of an "accident" then what does? Unless you are going to argue that the end result was certain (that someone would lose their life) but all parties involved decided to go ahead anyway just for the fun of it. That would be deliberate.
-----
The simple fact of the matter is this: neither the girl, her parents, the shooting range owner or the shooting instructor did anything illegal. Did one or all of them fail to use discretion and common sense? Most certainly. If this is a problem that needs to be addressed with legislation, then I have no problem with that. I am not advocating that children be allowed to shoot military weapons. . How many times do I have to say this?
