i was baptized december, 1989 and left six years later.. if only i didn't get baptized in the first place, then i could tell my family how wonderful the holidays were!

i've been doing some research and while everything i've read makes it clear that jerusalem was destroyed by nebuchadnezzar in 586, can anyone point me to where i might read how historians arrived at that date?.
all the sources i've seen just say that it's so.
as a matter of fact.
Oh Dude!!
You really need to order "The Gentile Times Reconsidered" by Carl O. Johnnson. You'll see it advertised at the top of some of the pages here. His work will save you a lot of searching around for various sources. He has already done the legwork and research. His documentation is from highly reputable sources and contains more information than the average person cares to know.

howdy, i'm new here.
21 years in & now about 1 year drifted away with no meetings for spiritual food other than the memorial.
so, in my brother's view i am either spiritually dead or the next thing to it.
Reading his book(s) will forever change your view of the WT Society. He is not a sensationalist, just presents his experiences and documents very well.
He lives a quiet life in Georgia and is not at all interested in being put on a pedestal. He seems to have a circle of close friends. Many are former JWs but he will point out that our aim is not, and should not be, to isolate ourselves within some other group. I have no idea about his finances and would bet some of mine that the person claiming that he "needs" for you to buy his book do not know either.

i've been away from "the truth" for over two years now after being raised and spending most of my adult life in the org.
it would be great to met some from my old circuit who left and now see the jw religion for what it is.
if you were in a congregation east of rocky mount we might know each other.. bob
Hi Smokeeater,
Yes I know quite a few JWs from Rocky Mount/Tarboro. And, I also have been to several KHall builds in the area. Perhaps we have crossed paths along the way.

Hi
I'm NOT going to the meetings and would stil rather not say the town. It's a small town in northeastern NC. I'd like to here from some fellow NCers. If you're east of Rocky Mount, I might know you.
Bob
Hi Debra,
I am very familiar with the Plymouth area. If you went to the Kingdom Hall anywhere near there in the 70's then we should know each other. I'd like to find out.
Bob
first, get a wife and some kids ( hold your marriage together as best you can).
then, impose rules that are practically impossible to follow .
( no masturbation, no unmonitored internet use, 5 meetings a week,.
You said it right dude. I've seen it so many times.
if the subject of religion or even jehovah's witnesses ringing your doorbell has come up, do you shy away from talking about ever being a witness?
some have indicated that they felt stupid for ever believing in the watchtower.
others have said they have a responsibility to help others not get involved in this "cult".
Heck no. It's easier to explain why you're NOT into something than try to make excuses for why you are.
.
if you've left or are discontinuing the witness life, what are you doing now?
what's a typical week day or weekend like for you?
Life is a lot simpler and quieter now. No more phone calls from "the friends." And, it takes a while to build friendships outside the org. Weekend mornings are the best. I'll be poking around the house sipping coffee when the JWs are busy at it.
