What are the WT Society's expenditures?

i'm hoping someone who has at least a little inside knowledge can help educate me here.

what sort of things does the wbts pay for, on a worldwide basis?.

- i understand that khs are owned and funded locally, at least where the locals can afford them, but what about in poor areas?.

So true about the Assembly Halls, in the US anyway. They are paid for by the Circuits that use them. A building fund is set up to accumulate the $$ to get it started. The Society "might" pitch in a part, but usually not. They are built with volunteer labor and then each Circuit is charged by the WT Society to use the facility. How clever.

Similar for Kingdom Halls. The Society has a Kingdom Hall Building Fund box in each congregation. Each congregation forwards $$ to the Society monthly collected from the box. The money is pooled at headquarters and then doled out as relatively low interest loans for KH builds. Each congregation pays their loan at interest and the WT Society continues to collect contributions from the boxes as well. How clever.

hey everyone!

i'm so happy that i finnally joined i just turned 17 and i have so many questions about the org.. i've been lurking around the site for months, and love reading experiences about bethel, and all the hypocricy that the wtbts spews out.. so i finally joined in and hope to make some great friends.. a little about me:.

im male, 17, and i am a born-in, so this is all i know... i was baptised at age 13 i beleive.... my gramma, and grampa and mom , and sisters and brothers, are all jw's.

Everyone else has already said it in some form, but welcome and so glad that you won't spend your best adult years chasing the WT dream. Many of us did. Me, from age 11 to 43. Been out 12 years now.

And they still say "we are so appreciative"? Sheesh. How about "this is meat from the faithful slave"? Or "we are being refined" and "we are being prepared"? I've probably forgotten the good ones. Someone pitch in please.

I used to read every new magazine within a day or so and read each new publication for new twists on existing understandings. Look where it lead me. The recommendation should be NOT to read every magazine, lets someone discover that there is nothing new, different, or interesting from one to the next.

Your earliest doubt?

this might be an unfair question for those who have been out of the organization for decades, but i'm wondering if any of you remember your earliest doubt -- maybe something odd that occurred to you as a kid (if you were a jw then).

please try to limit to two doubts at the most :-).

i think my first "doubt" was simply realizing that at the time of the flood, every animal that wasn't in the ark died (well, besides the fish, supposedly).

Wow! You guys are recalling some interesting things. My first doubts, that I recall anyway, were from the Revelation Climax book saying that key talks from the 1919 and 1922 District Conventions fulfilled Bible prophecy about stinging scorpions and pouring out the 7 bowls upon the earth. So those talk fullfilled prophecy and Babylon the Great was stunned by the talks?? Huh? Even Jehovah's Witnesses don't know what those talk were about. What zaniness.

Wife's FS report for last month... Zero!

i could just be reading too far into this but... even with plenty of opportunities and time to go, she didn't seem to make it out last month.

last night she said she was gonna go out today (the 1st) but... she's downstairs at the moment sipping coffee watching tv.

a few weeks ago on the long drive back from the assembly we talked about fs.

Captain, I concur with those that said not to make a big deal out of it BUT to make "a date" with your wife to do something new and different together. Most of my family came out after me. I was not confrontational with them about my own choices and allowed them plenty of space to sort things out for themselves. I did say enough so that they knew they had a friend as they were rethinking all the guilt-tripping KHall activities.

Stopping FS is big deal! There is no need to the tell the elders that you intend to never go out again. That will become evident on its own. By the way, I have redurrring dreams that I have met with the field service group and am now in a car group going back to the territory. In my dream I am silently wondering to myself what in the heck did I go back for. LOL

it has been a long time since i have posted here, so, here it goes.

i have been back and forth for the last two years on whether or not to stay in this religion or not.

most of me wanted to stay for the same as many others, fear.

I am so glad to see more finding their way to mental and spiritual freedom. Theredeemer and wife, try not to put too much into to justifying yourself to the elders. It is a tiring effort and in the end wasted. Just get out as smoothly as you can.

A Loving father.

one parallel i always remember is that jehovah god is likened to a loving father.

i have often wondered what kind of loving parent would go out indefinitely, not say where they were and leave their kids a vague and cryptic note of what to do while they were gone?

i have wondered what kind of parent would make it hard for their kids to figure out exactly what was expected of them, or watch them fail miserably from a distance.

Would this be the same Father that told Abraham to take his young son up on a mount and to slaughter him just to see if Abram would do it? Do you mean the all-knowing Father that tests his children just to see what they will do? Or maybe you mean the father that told the Israelites through Moses to perform genocide on the Midianites, Numbers 31, but to keep 32,000 virgins to pleasure themselves with? I guess if the virgins were more than 32,000 then the excess were killed too. Do you mean that father?

Quick question for recent convention attendees, did your hotel offer box lunches?

our hotel did, and on the surface that's no big deal.

matter fact i think it's a good business move on the hotel's part and pretty darn good customer service.

after the song was finished and the chairman did his announcements initiating the noon break, i got to wondering if the wt had anything to do with these box lunches offered by the hotel.

I have been out of the Org for some years and my perspective must have changed more than I realize. I am wondering not about the box lunches, but why why why would the Org announce where it wants fully responsible adults to go during an intermission??? Was I really that mentally imprisoned? They don't want you to leave the site during an intermission? It would go over so well if local vendors were allowed to make some $$ on the conventions. The brothers could even tell the vendors when to open hop and when to close. They would cooperate to get the captive customers.
