reading some of their posts sounds a lot like another person that got kicked off the board.. look at it, they've only been around since nov. 26. another person got kicked off a day or two before that.. look at their very first posts.
not exactly "hi, i'm new here and wondering about some stuff i've heard.".
anyone else notice that their last few posts have been the exact same thing?

I just wanted to mention that, yes, back in the Bible times, people had wrong ideas about the shape of the Earth, but so what?It wasn't God's purpose to reveal the shape of the Earth, it was His purpose to reveal the Messiah.
UDF,
Well now we get down to it. The reason this debate is occurring is because of the fact that believers claim the Bible is "Scientifically Accurate" and the accuracy proves that it is inspired.
I applaud you on being the first believer here to acknowledge that discrepancies exist.
Interestingly, the bogus claims of scientific accuracy have been made by believers - the good question is why? I believe the answer is that believers are afraid of science and the answers it will render and has rendered. Therefore, they try to remain on both sides of the fence and say that science and the Bible are compatible.

hi all, i finally got back from my psuedo-holiday (most of which was spent on my bed reading books, very relaxing!).
during my pseudo-holiday, a certain friend of mine badgered me endlessly to go with her to a midnight mass at our local branch of the anglican type christian society.
at least, that's what i think they're called.
So, badgered, I agreed, and off we went
...if we created a large wooden badger....
Syn, next time remember to "run away! run away! run away!"

Rem,
I am from Dumb-ASS-Kiss too.
Alan,
John 3:16 shows God loves you too!!
And 2 Tim 3 states the Bible is inspired of God. That is proof that it is inspired. What can't you understand? Has Satan got your mind?

introducing god and satan.
do god and satan work on the same team?
are you shocked at such a suggestion?
Yizu,
Your inteperetation of hell is different than that of most believers. The majority holds a much simpler view.
Let me see if I understand it.
Nope, God created hell for the sole purpose of Satan and his angels. It's never been God's goal to create hell for the purpose of sending humans to hell to begin with.
So God created hell. And no humans are going to hell? Is that right?
The devil never had the ability to create things and he never has and never will.
That's interesting. So then god has created things like ebola, AIDS, flesh eating viruses and anthrax? Why did he do that? There are 3 options: God did it, the devil did it or they evolved. Which would it be?
The bible clearly states that it is not God's will that man should perish, but have everlasting life
So are all humans going to heaven or only some? If only some then what happens to the bad ones?
Here is the interesting one:
God created hell (jailhouse) for the purpose of locking up the bad people who rejected God and His Son Christ Jesus. Also for breaking God's law and committing sin. If people rejected the Gospel of Christ and doesn't want to have anything to do with it and wants to do their own thing, that is their choice and the end result of their choice is being locked up in hell. It's a prison, hell is not the same as the lake of fire. They are two different things. It's a place where the souls will await judgement day
OK - so hell is a jail and then there is the lake of fire. What is the difference? What happens in the jail? Who runs the jail? What is the lake of fire? Who runs that? Who created the lake of fire?

in thinking back over the years past it makes me really sad what we have come to as jehovah's witnesses.
i never thought i would ever be at this point in my life.
in doing some new year reflections i can't help but think of the people i cared about in past years.
I take issue with most of the points raised here:
Maybe that's why there are so many child molesters in the JWs because they like want to have the new world society help them not be
There has not been to date any evidence to suggest that there is a higher percentage of molestors amobg JW's than the population as a whole. I know the system is flawed, and that many have been badly hurt but facts should not be twisted based on emotion.
Secondly, I do not think proven molestors should be cared for. They should be taken care of - by whatever means necessary to ensure they never harm another child ever again. I would not shed a tear for the death of ANY molestor.

i was watching the news last night.
the latest word from the war front is that we should be able to peaceably work out our differences with north korea.
as humiliating as it will be for us to kiss north korea's ass, we will do so because they do have the ability to nuke our west coast.
Larc,
Ever stop to consider that the war with Iraq has nothing to do with Saddam but is rather a play to destroy OPEC and the Saudis hold on the world oil supply? Why else is Saudi Arabia so opposed to it?
If you look beyond the Iraqi war I think the insights are quite interesting.

you know most of us spend a large part of our lives in a religion that allowed for no independant thinking.
we were taught and taught others that ours was the only way and anyone who thought differently was going to be judged unworthy and die.
anyone who presumed to think outside the box was branded "apostate" or not good association.
Thaks Xena....
I think the following quote from Bertand Russell is great:.
Three passions, simple but overwhelmingly strong, have governed my life: the longing for love, the search for knowledge, and unbearable pity for the suffering of mankind.... This has been my life. I have found it worth living, and would gladly live it again if the chance were offered me.
