Dutch Society did announcement about DC at last meeting
by Ozner infriends,.
the dutch branch of the society, has send a letter to all congregations in the netherlands about the dc this summer.
they stated that the series of dc in 2006 has end in a loss of 75.000 euro.

...they may have ended with a loss.....but did they follow the time honoured practise of (unknown to the rank and file) making a donation to the branch office? Happens at every Circuit Assembly I know of....sent out money to HQ and ask for brothers to cover the "shortfall" which only exists because of the "donation"....in effect a form of taxation on brothers and congs

Parents congregation disbanding
by New Worldly Translation inmy parents told me that the do has advised the cong that it's going to close due to there not being enough publishers in it (why didn't he just say people .
it is a very small cong with about 35 people in it but they have enough elders and everyone was happy being in it.
apart from being dubs they actually are a genuinely nice bunch of people and i feel a bit sorry for them having to get split up against their wishes.. the hall is split into two congs, with the other half having about 140 publishers, and i asked why they didn't just ask some from the other half to support theirs.

Usual reason for this is that 'there are not enough elders' or 'we can use the elders from here better elsewhere' (so your closed )Interesting is what happens to the funds of the disbanded cong - let me guess - they go to the branch office as a donation! ! as would any building fund or whatever ! the vanishing money trick again - now you see it - now you own it - now your broke!
The UK Congs (mostly) have a standard constitution that allows "rule from the top" so that the branch can dissolve/merge etc at will with no votes.

Big announcement after all DC have ended?
by Quandary ini was told by a reliable source that the organization will be making a "big announcement" at the end of the summer when all the dcs have ended.
has anyone else heard this?
maybe this is the "new light" they have alluded to in recent wt study articles?

The announcement is indeed something tract-related
now what a surprise - I thought it was the usual - plants are for sale and we need your money to pay for the assemblies so dont leave without making your credit card donation, and see you all again next year, same time, same place, same program,...and the next year....and the next....and............... -

did not realise that main PC by the hub could be ethernet connected so bought too many PCI wireless adaptors but all working - took a while to set up first wirelsss m/c in daughters bedroom but all working well - much faster as well . Had a problem with the install prog for the hub as a program dedupit (I use it to clean databases) conflicted so deleted depupeit - installed hub and reinstalled dedupeit - all working OK - need a break now for coffee - and some cake after all that!

Going wireless tomorrow...manuals look very complex - bit like the old days of setting up ISDN - will see how easy it is and if it can be setup without an engineer call! Using USB connectors for the PCs in the house so they simply plug in

Zone Overseers (does anyone know the details?)
by slimboyfat ini would like to know a bit more about zone overseers, the office and its power.
they seem to visit various branches (presumably each oversees 3 to 4 branches) to make sure everything is in order.
the famous visit of jack barr to ireland in the wake of the ray franz induced apostasy in that branch is an example of how a zone visit works.

Thanks for the reminder from the YB Blondie - recall that way back (50s or very early 6os) Jack Barr & his wife, Mildred, both served at the pioneer home in Dublin (dont think Ireland had a branch office then as it was part of the "Britain" branch in WT speak - or British as it should be (this was before they were married) and after that he was at Mill Hill in London for many years, so he would seem the right man to try and damp the flames of apostasty as he had been a hardline opponent of Ray Franz situation, and would know many old-timers in Ireland. However not alltogether sure JB was very clever or Scripturally based to be able to hold forth with any with a free mind - doubtless arguments ran to the old "its Jehovahs organisation" & the well loved " leave it in Jehovahs hands"
The manner in which the yearbook describes the "counselling process" of the apostates would likely vary from such ones point of view - knew JB at London Bethel and not very cheerful character who was being given the run around by Phil Rees and then Ron Drage as he worked in the old plate making shoip (before new printing presses did not use linotype)
Phil Rees of course no longer with us.
