hi readers and lurkers, .
i decided it was time to register to the site.
after all these years, it was just a matter of time.

recently they announced at my hall that a large donation had been made to the local congregation-- nearly $100,000.
they then proposed a resolution that we continue our new(ish) practice of only keeping enough money on hand locally for monthly expenses, and send the entire amount of this large donation to the watchtower society.
aside from the fact that our congregation has already sent well over a half-million dollars to the wt in the last 12 months, i don't understand the motive of the person who made the donation.
That's insane.
when it comes to a simple matter of no longer believing the teachings of jw's, it appears to me that it's more common for the husband to make the first move to leave the religion.
I know of two families where both the husband and wife left. In one case it was the husband that woke up first, in the other it was their daughter. It took mom and dad a few years to follow. Eventually the whole family got out.
That being said, I know of three other families where the husband has faded but the wife is still "mentally in" and attends meetings.
I know of two other families where the parents stayed but one or more children left or are in the process of leaving.
My case is like Magwitch's only with the gender roles reversed. I think that brings this completely non-scientific study to:
-
That being said, I know my anecdotal knowledge is skewed because I do not associate with female ex-JWs.

i've been actively pursuing a career change for quite a few years.
i've applied for nursing programs at several local public colleges.
the competition is high for this limited access program.
AK, good for you. Thanks for sharing what it means to pursue your dreams!
an update on my life post education..... as the governing body continue to denounce higher education, reality continues to prove their words ignorant, ill informed and blatant lies.
i am proud and astonished to say i have just been accepted for a university teaching hospital post.
i have a seriously sought after, senior house officer job in intensive care, endocrinology and clinical pharmacology.
S&R: I am proud and astonished to say I have just been accepted for a University Teaching Hospital post.
Congratulations! Thanks for sharing your good news with us.
S&R: education leads to freedom of mind
Well said. I'm going to use it!
i don't know if any of you have seen the video posted by mike and kim regarding jw.org advertising on a thailand computer game review television show.
its interesting - check it out.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=57nigmnim18.
the show is called game show social - i looked at a few of the videos and jw.org is on a lot of them.. at first i thought that it was a review of a jw.org app but when you look at other videos jw.org is on a lot of them as a sponsor as well as dell lg and others.. wgo..
well, i told my wife over the weekend i was going to go back school to finish my degree.
she is 100% supportive of it!
apparently she doesn't think higher education is so evil either.. since my former major was computer programming and that was in the late 1990's, i was told i'd have to retake a bunch of classes since times have changed.
Cappy, Science teachers are in demand. This is what I do.
To teach, you will also need a teaching credential. In most states this is an additional 1 - 2 year program.

so this jaw bone of early man has been dated at 2.8 million years old.
that means that given a margin for error and allowing an unknown but short period of time for adam naming the animals the 1000 years starts in ummm, eerrr.
This was from the genus Homo, but not the species sapiens.
A progenitor perhaps, but not human.
hey guys,.
so, something amazing happened recently.
i recently met with an old and very good friend of mine.
PRO: It'll give you closure and it is also official notice you don't want anything to do with them any longer.
CON: It is playing by their rules, but it is also official notice you don't want anything to do with them any longer.
Let us know what you decide.
for those who have left and are still in contact with jw family, how do you usually respond when they bring up jw stuff, i.e.
start talking about the nearness of armageddon or things like that.. i usually say nothing and just let it pass but i'm considering changing tact to something more confrontational, less because i want to change their mind and more because i find it tiresome.
thoughts?
"Have you ever noticed, no matter what the Society does, it's good? Even when it's something they previously lambasted. Take for instance televangelism. For decades, the WTBTS publications and GB speakers spoke disparagingly about televangelists. But now they have JW.TV and it's a good thing."
"If it was bad when Pat Robertson and others did it, then how come it's suddenly good?"
