It's very telling when you can't tell the real thing from parody, or parody from the real thing!
Poe's law is an Internet adage which states that, without a clear indicator of the author's intent, parodies of extreme views will be mistaken by some readers for sincere expressions of the parodied views.
That being said, I believe this to be a case of the opposite, when the real thing is indistinguishable from a parody of it.
