Seeking advise on going to college/university
by joe134cd inhere is the current situation of an acquaintance of mine.. age early 40s.
currently lost her good paying job.. managed to find another reasonably quickly.
although be it with not good money but with the possibility of been able to take an adult apprenticeship which would increase her pay over time.. she is also looking into going to university in the new year.. here is the question i have bearing in mind the above scenario.

It is important to consider the employability and earning potential of any degree(s) earned. At the risk of stating the obvious, a BA in art history will not open the door to as many job opportunities as a degree in engineering.
Part of making this decision should be having an end goal in mind, that is: What are your plans after college?
Obviously there are exceptions to any kind of situation. There are PhDs that are unemployed and people that only have a high school diploma pulling down six-figures or more every year. But it makes sense to go with the odds unless you are the exception. If you are, then play that lottery and more power to you!
But the fact is: educated people generally earn more than those that are not. YMMV.
All of that being said, attending college and getting a degree is a huge commitment of both time and money. No one should do it merely for the hope of a better paycheck at the end. Anyone considering college should enroll in a program that will not only have the potential to make them employable, but do so in a field which interests them, even better if it's something that excites you!

Need to know when the next apostate bashing article comes out
by outsmartthesystem inso.....the court has updated binding recommendations to include the following:.
"each parent shall ensure that no other person or entity disparages, criticizes, or condemns the other parent in the children's presence, whether it is directly, indirectly, specifically or broadly stated, or articulated in any form - action, illustration or words.
each parent has an affirmative responsibility to shield the children from this sort of behavior.".

My daughter surprised me last night.
by Driving Force ini started my fade a the beginning of 2015, took counseling form a psychiatrist, and worked hard to get my family away from the cult.
my marriage split and i now live alone with my 15 year old daughter.. she came to me last night and we started talking about jws.
she told me that the subject they are discussing at the moment in philosophy is "cults".

Driving Force: I am sure there are many kids out there who have come to the same conclusion, but are trapped any cannot or are afraid to say anything.
Yes there are.
It sounds like your daughter has developed some very useful critical thinking skills. Good for her and good for you too!

That's smart thinking.
I don't have any intel on that, but you shouldn't have to wait long. The WTBTS only knows a few tunes and that's one of their favorites.

OK friends lets be honest, if a Nuclear Holocaust took place today how many of you would return to the KH?
by James Mixon inspeaking for my self, no way in hell.. this question to see if you really have been deprogramed,.
do you 100% believe it is not the truth.. a fourth of the world hit by a nuclear attack..

Assuming I survived, the KH would be one place I would possibly go by to see if my children survived.
But if you mean "return" as in be an active JW again, no fuckin' way.
It's a cult. In fact, it's a high-control authoritarian cult run by a group of ignorant narcissists that haven't the clue evolution gave a donkey and don't care how many lives they ruin in the process.
No amount of nuclear detonations can change that.

My Opinions on whats going on in WT land - Insider Information
by thedepressedsoul infirst off, i'd like to state that i currently have "privileges" in the congregation and volunteer at bethel on and off throughout the year.
that's as much information as i will currently give about myself.. starting off, i think something big is coming in the form of lawsuits and bad pr.
they seem to be batting down the hatches in preparation for something the last few years and even more so the last few months.

SBF: Was this thread made before or after it happened? I don't know why I saw it at the top of the list.
It says it is 3 months old.
SBF, what? You don't enjoy a little wild speculation?
Thanks for the concern, I can sort out facts from fiction.

TDS: That being said, while I'm stuck, why not get some information and play my cards?
Good plan. Thanks for taking one for the team.
