Cases of fornication when only one of the involved individuals will confess
by Judge Rochefort inwhat happens in cases of fornication between two jehovah's wintesses if one of them confesses but the other denies the facts?would there be a judicial committee to the one who confesses while the other individual would be left as if nothing had happened?i would love to know specially the opinions of elders or ex-elders.thank you!

Interesting. I never saw it happen, all though I heard of it. (I was an elder for over 20 years).
The Two Witness Rule would absolutely apply. The denier would probably have to offer some explanation as to why the other person would "confess to something that never happened," but they could cite the case of the Amalekite that claimed he killed Saul as Biblical precedent for people lying about things they've done for selfish gain.
The motive in a situation like this would have to be something like some have mentioned above: obsession or insane desire to cause trouble.
If the denier stuck to their guns and there was no other witness, the elders would have no WT sanctioned policy upon which to proceed (notice I did NOT say scriptural).
All that being said, no one should ever admit anything to the elders. They are not your friends and what ever you do in private is none of their business! NONE!

Who leaves first, the husband or wife?
by snugglebunny inwhen it comes to a simple matter of no longer believing the teachings of jw's, it appears to me that it's more common for the husband to make the first move to leave the religion.

New donation arrangement in action locally
by respectful_observer inrecently they announced at my hall that a large donation had been made to the local congregation-- nearly $100,000.
they then proposed a resolution that we continue our new(ish) practice of only keeping enough money on hand locally for monthly expenses, and send the entire amount of this large donation to the watchtower society.
aside from the fact that our congregation has already sent well over a half-million dollars to the wt in the last 12 months, i don't understand the motive of the person who made the donation.

I know of two families where both the husband and wife left. In one case it was the husband that woke up first, in the other it was their daughter. It took mom and dad a few years to follow. Eventually the whole family got out.
That being said, I know of three other families where the husband has faded but the wife is still "mentally in" and attends meetings.
I know of two other families where the parents stayed but one or more children left or are in the process of leaving.
My case is like Magwitch's only with the gender roles reversed. I think that brings this completely non-scientific study to:
- Husband: 6
- Wife: 1
- Son/daughter: 5
-
That being said, I know my anecdotal knowledge is skewed because I do not associate with female ex-JWs.-
- Husband: 6

Devouring the Forbidden Fruit - Higher Education
by cappytan inwell, i told my wife over the weekend i was going to go back school to finish my degree.
she is 100% supportive of it!
apparently she doesn't think higher education is so evil either.. since my former major was computer programming and that was in the late 1990's, i was told i'd have to retake a bunch of classes since times have changed.

Cappy, Science teachers are in demand. This is what I do.
To teach, you will also need a teaching credential. In most states this is an additional 1 - 2 year program.
