N.O.: Either way, it's been enlightening to read the responses to the question.
Good for you.
Ironic though since YOU NEVER ANSWERED ANY OF THE QUESTIONS POSED TO YOU!

i watched some of the segments on the jw broadcast.
in the video they showed how they managed their inventory orders for the congregations.
at the conclusion it was stated by the narrator how god is speeding up the work.. the problem is the system they implemented has been used for over two decades in logistics.
If Jehovah's been "speeding up the work" for many decades, then why is the organization still way behind the rest of the industrialized world?
Apparently Satan's system is a hot rod compared to Jah's pedestrian chariot.
It's just stupid. The people running this organization are only good at one thing, ripping off gullible people that mistakenly think they're serving god.
Let's review: It's a cult!
back storymy cousin, who i was pretty close to growing up, was dfd several years ago while i was still drinking the kool-aid.
i contacted her shortly after i woke up and left the borg.
we have been having great non-religious conversations on and off for a while.
it feels like you turned your back on him and the rest of the family
This is the kind of cowardly, mind-fucking bullshit that proves this religion is cult: blame the victim for their abuse.
THEY shun then rationalize/justify by pretending the person THEY won't talk to "turned their back on them."
This kind of personal dishonestly is appalling
i've been looking on this site for some time but never posted.
i'll give a little about myself, but not too much.
i'm a ex-bethelite ( brooklyn )and currently serving as an elder (10 years) (thinking about stepping down) on the service committee.
NEJ said, "A number of my still-in contemporaries (now mostly in their 30s) have been leading double lives since adolescence yet they still go through the charade."
See. This is stupid. It's no way to live.
There is no good reason to do this. The ONLY reasons to live like this are fear and cowardice. Those may even be the same reason stated differently.

If you don't agree with the leadership of a group--any group, religious or otherwise--then why stay?
i don't post on here for often, but i read posts almost daily and i love our little community of ex-jw's.
a little bit of a background i was raised in as jw but was never baptized but was a publisher and believe it wholehearedly.
my father was very strict when it came to the religion and although i really quit going in my early 20s (which broke his heart) it held a power over me until i was close the to 30. at 30 i decided to enroll in community college while working full time and got my aa last year.
1) do you think it's a good idea to provide this quote on my personal statement?
First of all: Good for you for pursuing an education!
That being said: No, I do not think it's a good idea to quote the WT on your personal statement.
FYI: I'm a high school teacher in the United States and have written MANY letters of recommendation for my students. Several have gotten into very prestigious universities.
Do NOT go into your JW past. Don't do it.
If you really want to tell your story, do so with out mentioning the specifics. You could say something to the affect that you were raised in a community/culture that does not value higher education; yet in spite of that ... [your details here].
2) If so, can anybody provide the exact quote and the exact year, page etc so that I can cite it appropriately?
Yes, but I won't. See above.
i'm new to this forum.. i was raised in " the truth" from age six and now i am in my mid 60's.
my wife was born in " the truth" and is very strong in the religion.
i have had many experiences during my lifetime with the other members of several congregations.
Hi BD!
BD: She says I'm being picky
Isn't that how "true Christians" are supposed to be?
BD: she said she doesn't know me anymore.
Tell her, "I don't know this religion anymore!"
does anyone remember those 2 songs and that movie specifically being mentioned in the watchtower?
they were"bad" and should be avoided.
it had to be in the late 70's or early80's.
my wife and sons don't know how far i have gone in withdrawing from the organization in my heart.
i've been faking family worship.
i got angry and almost showed it while watching the march tv.org.
jhine, that's OLD OLD NEWS
I want to know what vinman meant in the OP
Because it's a high-control, authoritarian cult and I no longer wanted to be part of the hypocrisy and lies.
I am so much happier now that I can life my own life and pursue what is real.
