  Out of the Mouth of Babes - Bethel Gift shop?

  about a week ago i posted to ask for some suggestions on how handle my (pre-teen) sons upcoming trip with his father trip to bethel this summer.

  i got some wonderful suggestions.

  some of which was to leave him alone, as he will see through the bullshxt himself.

  Dad “The organization is a non-for profit. That means they GIVE AWAY the literature. You never have to pay for anything. That is a beauty of Jehovah’s organization.”

  Clearly dad does not understand what "not-for-profit" means. Plenty of non-profits sell things.

  And as for the "you never have to pay for anything" comment: Who does he think pays for EVERYTHING the organization has and does? That's the hypocrisy of the organization!

  Then allow me to be the one to identify the Governing Body of Jehovah's Witnesses as successfully fulfilling this "prophecy" as the "Evil Slave."

  you know about my not-so-ugly divorce and how me and my wife found out the religion is false.

  she still attends while my 17 year old has been raging on me about all the wasted time he suffered from by being in this religion.

  he think's his life is ruined, very angry we did not learn this was a cult earlier(he was 14 when he stopped attending after reading the revelation book, he said "in all time and history, how could a trumpet blown in revelation have anything to do with a jw bible student convention statement"?.

  You've gotten some great advice so far, so I'll add this: "Son, you're right when you ask why didn't we learn TTATT sooner, but have you ever considered what your life would be like if we STILL thought it was "the Truth" like so many others?"

  They lie about everything, why don’t they lie about annual publisher growth?

  jwfacts show that publisher growth was 15% pre- 1975 and has decline to about 2%.

  what prevents them from fudging the annual growth and keeping it at something more positive like 10%?.

  "a great crowd that no man is able to number".

  You don't need an excuse. If you don't know the methods of mental manipulation and mind-control then you don't know them.

  It's as simple as that.

  Thank yourself that there is something about you that eventually saw through it and was strong enough to say, "No!"

  TTATTElder: well if there are problems then jehovah will reveal them in time... There are many examples of problems in Jehovah's organization in the past

  Maybe Jehovah IS revealing them in our time, right now!

  In the past, many times the kings, Pharisees and others were corrupt and did NOT have Jehovah's approval. You wouldn't want to have been on the wrong side of that then and we most certainly don't want to be on the wrong side of it now.

  I see it as spinning it this way: the WT leadership has apparently learned that when they so "No" to the internet and social media, they are being ignored. So they are now trying to make it look like they are simply advising you to "be smart" about it.

  in may's "we will never solicit for money, but now we're going to solicit you for the next hour" broadcast, we kept hearing about all the "facts" that the gb would like for us to know.. hmm...what facts did they leave out?.

  -- $millions have been spent in out-of-court settlements of child abuse cases.

  -- $untold amounts are being spent on legal defense of wt policies related to child abuse.

  The Searcher: Every congregation has to read out its monthly financial report as well as submitting an Annual Statement.

  So why doesn't the organization do the same thing? Shouldn't they be setting the example?

  How many child abuse cases?

  does anyone know where i can find numbers of how many child abuse cases have been brought against jws or settled out of court?.

  i know that 1 is too many and statistics don't reflect the horror suffered, but i would like some numbers to use when explaining to others the reasons for my decreased activity and to have support for my reasons for 'stumbling', facts which might make others think too.. im from uk so it helps that the charities commission is investigating there and also there's a paedophiles exposed website which names 32 jws convicted in uk since 2012, horrifying!

  The WTBTS keep meticulous records just like he Nazis did about their concentration camps. Curious coincidence. But they too aren't saying, which does not mean that they are "godlike" just because of their silence
