Umberto, thank you very much for sharing this.
I didn't think for a second that anyone on the RC was fooled by Jackson's duplicity and evasiveness, but it is nice to get confirmation.
straight after the commission ended today within minutes, the phone rang.
it was one of the people who are working on it.
firstly she established if i was alright and did i want to talk.. i said i was too tired and unhappy that geoffrey jackson managed to do some preaching....she said they were aware of that.

the church, which was founded in pennsylvania in the 1870s to promote a first century interpretation of the bible and is now headquartered in brooklyn, has emerged as the least able or willing to deal with sexual abuse within its ranks, according to annie cousins, a law professor at the university of new south wales and an expert in sex crimes who is a consultant to the inquiry.. https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/asia_pacific/jehovahs-witnesses-face-child-sex-abuse-investigation-in-australia/2015/08/14/d8a58eda-406e-11e5-9561-4b3dc93e3b9a_story.html.
now i know that annie cousins is not of the high caliber expert witness as the jw expert monica applewhite but i think cousins makes a great observation..
I loved this excerpt:
"The church, ..., has emerged as the least able or willing to deal with sexual abuse within its ranks, according to Annie Cousins, a law professor at the University of New South Wales and an expert in sex crimes who is a consultant to the inquiry.
“'I find their approach to the issue and victims extraordinarily bizarre — almost medieval,' she said in an interview."
a summary for you guys of the rather lengthy discussion about peoples ability to leave the organisation:.

Well there you have it folks!
I bet if you told the average JW they still wouldn't believe it!!!
in the style of stephen lett, i'm trying to come up with an exhaustive, enumerated list (without his crazy eyebrows, goofy facial expressions, and nutty voice).
what watchtower has gotten wrong isn't just their 2 witness rule.
it goes much deeper into other failures of jw dogma that has allowed this injustice and others to flourish in their organization.
Good job Billy!
this happened in the month prior to the jws giving testimony for the royal commission - the article was published june 10, 2015. it is interesting to note that this catholic tribunal is for addressing those priests who cover up child abuse.
pope francis makes catholic bishops who cover up for paedophile priests accountable for first time with new tribunal system.
pope francis has taken a major step towards stamping out paedophilia in the catholic church, approving a new system of tribunals designed to make bishops accountable for the priests under them.the new and unprecedented vatican legal mechanism will hear the cases against bishops accused of covering up paedophile priests who abuse children on their watch.the church has previously faced criticism for failing to hold those in higher positions accountable for what goes on in their bishoprics.the vatican said pope francis was presented with the tribunal proposals by cardinal sean omalley, who he appointed as head of a new sex abuse advisory commission in december 2013.francis and his cardinal advisers approved the plans and allocated funding for full-time personnel to staff the new office.the vatican spokesman, rev federico lombardi, said this means there is now a specific process by which the vatican can deal with bishops who are negligent in handling cases of abuse in their territories.canon law already does provide sanctions for bishops who are negligent in their duties, but the vatican has never been known to mete out punishment for a bishop who covered up for an abuser.previously, the closest francis had come was in april, when he accepted the resignation of a us bishop found to have failed to report a suspected child abuser.
On behalf of the Methodist Church in Britain I want to express an unreserved apology for the failure of its current and earlier processes fully to protect children, young people and adults from physical and sexual abuse inflicted by some ministers ... of the Methodist Church.
Governing Body, are you listening?
I doubt it. Those seven arrogant assholes are too full of themselves to know what humility and a real apology look and sound like.
Let's review: It's a cult!

The Catholics are leading the way in taking care of a problem which they long mishandled.
I'd say they are making the WT leadership look bad, but they have done that all by themselves.
in the october 2007 awake!
page 11, the b0rg had the audacity to say this concerning child sexual abuse: "sadly, though, most of such [child abuse] crimes go unpunished by authorities today.
in australia, for example, it has been estimated that only 10 percent of offenders are prosecuted, and few are convicted.
SG098: I sent this info to the Royal Commission.
Perfect!
Those blokes have really done their homework, but they must LOVE having a Worldwide Network of free legal-assistants filling in every little missed bit of intelligence!
my husband went to the assembly at the weekend.
a few people asked about me, why didn't i go anymore?
he lied and told them "i don't know"!
life has been busy, but i am now on 2 weeks vacation which allowed me some thinking room.
and here's what's been on my mind.. we're all going to die.
no matter what we do, our fate is sealed.
We are going to die, and that makes us the lucky ones. Most people are never going to die because they are never going to be born. The potential people who could have been here in my place but who will in fact never see the light of day outnumber the sand grains of Arabia. Certainly those unborn ghosts include greater poets than Keats, scientists greater than Newton. We know this because the set of possible people allowed by our DNA so massively exceeds the set of actual people. In the teeth of these stupefying odds it is you and I, in our ordinariness, that are here.We privileged few, who won the lottery of birth against all odds, how dare we whine at our inevitable return to that prior state from which the vast majority have never stirred?
