  The world's oldest song (1400 BC)!! midis!!

  these are midis of songs from musical notation recorded in ancient texts.

  it's nothing like what you can download and stuff your hard drive with, but it's interesting to hear what might have been performed thousands of years ago.

  i like the first song a lot and the athenaios one is pretty creepy.

  I've downloaded the midi file as well,.... I may do a Dub version (Dub being a sort of Drum & Bass, Reggie style)

  Get a copy of Propellerhead Reason, software so good I bought a legal version.

  Do GB really go out in service????

  this may have been posted before but i have always wondered if the gb go out in service like everyone else does.

  do some former bethelites have any insight on this?

  or anyone else know?

  I heard a story once about Knorr. Apparently he was out in service and someone made the comment saying to the effect " your just out making your higher ups rich" Something like that. Then Knorr supposedly said " May I introduce myself I'm Nathan Knorr president of the WTS!" AHHHH silence. Has anyone heard this before? Just curious Marie P.S. Everyone puts them on a pedestal.Myself being guilty as charged at one time.

  Yea, I heard something like that story years ago, may be true maybe another urban myth.

  Have You Ever Heard This Explanation Why 144,000 is a Literal Number?

  the speaker said tonight (yes i went to the memorial to appease my worried family .

  well he said its very simple....the scripture talks about the lamb and the 144,000. it doesn't say lambs as in more than one....no, it says lamb referring to the "literal number of one lamb".. so thats how we know that the 144,000 is a literal number and not symbolic like all the rest of revelation.. ok....now am i going bonkers...or has anyone else every heard that explanation before?

  i know i never have and that doesn't make any sense to me at all.. had enough

  Incense? Isn't that something that hippies & druggies use??

  Hmmm, has it occurred to anyone else that St John may have used insense (to take away the smell of whatever he was smoking) at the time he wrote this....?

  Thanx for the support zion !! Unfortunately, I am sick and tired of pretending and making everything for show. I am going to be frank and honest about the wrong things I did in the past, and I am not going to pretend I havent screwed up unlike some people !! I know what you mean.... Now I can at least be honest about my failings, putting them into context of my own beliefs, rather than a set of rules. I am a good person now because I have my own values, which counts for a lot more with God I am sure, OK yes I screw up sometimes, yet its me that faces the consiquences. I also found that (as with my ex wife) there are so many that feel that as long as they obey the rules they are good people, when in fact they are well screwed up and cannot face their true feelings.

  I signed up ages ago out of curiosity, there is a free trial account you can set up. There was quite an array of 'sisters' from all ages, they all put on their profiles how they wanted to pioneer and do more in service etc etc...

  Some of the 'brothers' profiles are worse, ambitions to become elders, or even DO...

  I lost interest very soon after.

  Just want some imput on something. I am a sister and I am over £10.000 in dept. I have two children to support. I used to be a model and still look good. I have been offerd a great job pole dancing in a classy joint. It wont involve taking any clothes off, Just dancing in a bickini. I could be earning an obscean amount of money up to £2000 a week.I guess its not the ideal job for a wittness. but it would only be untill I payed my depts off.

  Hmmm Depends what would happen if the body of elders caught you in there.... <g> or perhaps the District Overseer...

  I honestly think one of the cruelest things the jw's (and other religions) teach is that healthy adults should deny themselves sexual satisfaction. Its mentally unhealthy and causes all kinds of problems.

  I think that is the root cause of the problem.

  Congratulations, Spain - first government to fall because of Iraq, Bush!

  congratulations to the spanish people, who voted the socialists to power as a protest against the conservative government's supporting bush's war on iraq, and for claiming the madrid bombs were acts of the eta nationalists and not an al-qaida attack because of the war on iraq.. so one government has fallen, and there are many more to come, bush.. who says these days ain't fun?

  I'm kinda surprised that the Anti-America/Bush folks here find themselves opposing Democracy, 'instant' or otherwise. A cursory look at world history reveals autrocity after autrocity have been committed against citizens by their own non-democratic governements.

  I agree, we should show sympathy for the American people against whom their non democratically elected government has commited so many atrocities.
