Terry's book: I WEPT BY THE RIVERS OF BABYLON
by tec ini just finished reading this book, by our terry, and i thorougly enjoyed it.
terry has an amazing gift for words and expression - as most of you already know - and he lured me in from the very start.
reading this book is an actual experience... and i don't want to say much more than that, because i don't want to color your experience as you read for yourself.. .

Missionaries to vacate all missionary homes
by seenitall inlatest news from a source (missionary in foreign land):.
no more missionary homes anywhere in the world.. all missionaries presently in missionary homes must vacate.
must get housing on your own / from the locals.. circuit and district overseers have moved into many of these former missionary homes.. reasons: liability, cost savings, real estate to be sold or used for other purposes.. needless to say, many of these longtime servants are very unsettled.

Ditto with what ZuluTime wrote.
In many developing countries, the lifestyle they enjoy is much higher than the locals. So I can't say I am sorry to hear this news as many of them(some are genuine) have inherited the ugly behaviour from 'Mother' Metraton mentioned-cold, ruthless and uncaring treatment. They look down on the poor locals, treating them like children and kiss up to the wealthy ones-even if they are not spiritual by WTS standards.
This is a true story: In an country where an International Convention was being held, the local bethel called all the international guests for a meeting before convention. The speakers were missionaries(they run the bethel). The guests were warned against fratanizing too much with the locals because they would just beg them for money and the local sisters were just after husbands from abroad. All the gifts brought for the local brothers were collected by the bethel, distributed to missionaries and bethelites(whose standard of living is much higher than many brothers) and the rest of the gifts were sent further to another land. At the convention, the guests(except the Americans) were very wary of the locals. They were driven away from the stadium as soon as the Convention program was over. The locals were also seated very far from the delegates. After the 4day program, the guests were taken for safaris to see animals. So they spent very little time with their local brothers..
Many local brothers ended up wondering what had been the point of the INTERNATIONAL convention.

For me, it was the Conti case. I know 5 other people who woke up after learning about the case. They were more receptive to TTATT after this, read Ray Franz's books and a couple of them no longer attend meetings, while the others are just there for their families.
Many good JWs who love their kids will be shocked if they learn about these cases and will be willing to listenn to other criticism of the WTS. Please continue to publicise these cases and to post court documents as irrefutable proof.
They can hardly say these are apostate docs if they can be accessed on court websites available to the public.

What is happening in Mexico?
by ILoveTTATT ini have heard that a lot of the english congregations in mexico are shutting down... they are condensing 5 congregations into one, or in some areas even disbanding the only english congregation.
jw's who have been living in mexico for many years and probably were sheltered by being in the english congregations will now have to move to spanish congregations.... .
ilttatt.

The worst need greaters are those who come from their affluent countries to hang out with fellow westerners in cliques in their new countries. The missionaries are too happy to welcome these into their 'clubs' where they talk about the locals disparagingly.
Many of these need greaters go to Africa (for example) so they can boast of their 20 bible studies when they write home.We have some at the KH I go to now and then. What they don't realize is that African hospitality makes it difficult for the locals to reject these guests.Others have their own agenda for welcoming these NG and missionaries. What these westerners don't ask themselves is :if these people are sincerely interested in learning about God, why don't they listen to and study with the local witnessess???
But the tides are changing, many Africans are learning to say NO + the missionaries are not needed in Africa, the locals are already believers.Try Europe or any other atheist regions.

Has The Society, or Any Bro or Sis, Ever Screwed You Out Of Your Money?
by LoisLane looking for Superman inthis thread was inspired because of 3rdgn, and her asking, on behalf of her destitute elderly widowed mom,.
for the return of her mother's "conditional loan" to the society of $20,000.00.. (this was stated today, under my thread of, "what was the effect on you of knowing hypocritical jw's?").
the society more or less yes, no, it is now our money, and you can't have it back.

My mum( a widow) was cheated out of a lot of money by a so called brother who was refurbishing her house. He bought 2nd hand and poor quality material and charged her a lot of money. When she reported him to the elders, then to the CO, they told her to let it go since he was a father with a family to feed.He too was an elder.
The scripture about taking care of widows did not come up in the discussion.
My mum was not the only sister he had conned.

Not just Sweden, Denmark too.
Splane is delusional if he thinks this kind of reasoning will make an positive impact in Scandinavia. Maybe in the foreign language congregations.
I hear in Denmark kids can ask to be given shelter by the city council if the parents try to force religion on them.
Bo Jul(sp) the Norwegian AWWA rep should make the media in Scandinavia aware of this video urging parents to force their kids to get baptised. This would make a good campaign AWAA!!!
According to Splane's reasoning, there must be something wrong with Jehovah's teaching method since jesus was baptised at age 30.

This is a very positive development. The Conti case lead to my awakening from a watchtower induced trance.
I have been a lurker on this website since August last year and have recently registered.
I have visited JW survey, JW facts, Jw Struggle, Barbara Anderson's website, Shilmer's blog and many others.
After having all this information, my next question was: what next?
This association is a fantastic initiative. Thanks and congratulations to all those who came up with the idea(Don't we just love this idea LOL) -

if they were able to win on this ground, they could get out completely (although it could still be appealed to the ca supreme court).

There is a Mole in Brooklyn
by Oubliette inreading cedar's excellent article about the july 15, 2013 new-light" study edition of the watchtower got me thinking:.
the control freaks in brooklyn known as the governing body (aka fds) must be having conniption fits knowing that there is a mole in bethel leaking information to apostates!
"three weeks ahead of its expected release date in mid-april, a scanned copy of the july 15 2013 "study edition" of the watchtower was leaked to the office of jwsurvey by a conscientious active witness within the organization.".

As I understand it, foreing Bethels that do translation work get the English magazines from Brooklyn well in advance, so this leak could have come from any of the WTS Branches around the world.
