According to the bible, Jesus at 12 years was quite an exceptional child, he took on religious leaders at the temple. Yet he didn't get baptized at that age. He waited until he was 30. I wonder whose example JWs are following when they baptize 9 year olds?

How many of the GB helpers are "anointed"?
by Nostromo inaccording to this list there are 29 helpers at the moment: https://jwleaks.files.wordpress.com/2014/10/jehovahs-witnesses-governing-body-committees.jpg.
i wonder how many of these are "anointed"?
all the current seven gb members were helpers first and then appointed to be gb members.

The GB appointment = annointed rumour is probable.
I think it's very strange that the GB has other non-anointed sheep helpers when there are reportedly 12,000+ of their brothers(christ's brothers) around the world. It doesn't make sense. But then nothing with this cult ever makes sense.
Mark Noumair was not anointed when he was a missionary. They have been using him for the longest time.
He will soon realize he has the heavenly calling

Yeah, it's very sad that the cyclist died.
This guy was returning from a theocratic activity and Jehovah didn't protect him? No angelic protection?
Oh I forgot, Jehovah only protects us as a group

Stephen Lett (Governing Body of Jehovah's Witnesses) Publicly Counsels Politicians During Convention Keynote Address In Africa
by jwleaks inzambia: fulfill promises ... jehovah's witnesses counsel politicianstimes of zambia.
august 23, 2014. by chatula kampo.
a top jehovah's witnesses' world leader has bemoaned politicians' failure to fulfill campaign promises.. stephen lett, who gave a keynote speech at the on-going convention held at levy mwanawasa stadium in ndola, said politicians needed to meet the aspirations of people who vote them into public offices.. meanwhile, conversion overseer john mashilipa has urged fellow witnesses to respect the government of the day, obedient and continue remaining non-partisan.. in the keynote address streamed live from solwezi district in the north-western province, mr lett, one of the seven members of the world governing body said electorates expected much from the people they vote for.. "there is need for politicians to fulfill their promises to their voters once they assumed power," he said.. he observed that most politicians failed to fulfill promises to their voters who had high expectations.. "politicians usually promise a moon and not deliver to their promises, this is disappointing to the voters who have high expectations," he said.. mr mashilipa said believers needed to seek god's kingdom which he said never fails, unlike human governance.. this year's conversion attracted a historic attendance of more than 40,000 people from across the five districts in the province namely; ndola, kitwe, luanshya, mufulira, kalushi and chambishi.. gathered under the theme 'keep seeking first god's kingdom', witnesses filled the stadium and those who could not find seats monitored proceedings from outside.

Congregation Pledge Disgusted Elder
by rrb2016 inat the meeting the other night, the elder who had to read the announcements, which included the $$ info for the new donation arrangement seemed downright disgusted as he read the announcements and asked for the vote.
he said, "well, here is another organizational change" as he read the letter about the discontinuation of the 2nd meeting during co visit.
then after they voted, he said if you have any questions ask this other elder as if he wanted nothing to do with it.

Thanks for responding to my post AndDontCallMeShirley.
I just had a look at the threads. They talking about the new financing arrangement through pledges with money being sent to the Watchtower society for KH &AH construction work.
My question was regarding what the cong mentioned is doing: Requesting families to put a pledge on paper for congregational expenses i.e rent to the national Kingdom Hall Association.
The elders want to know how much they can expect from each family.
I didn't see that mentioned on the links you provided, but they are long threads so I will read on to see if other congs are giving pleges for local expenses as well as another pledge for funds to the society(or if this is a local arrangement)

Hello
I am registered here but I mostly lurk and read the interesting threads.
I have a couple of questions regarding this new pledge arrangement.
A friend from Europe told me that their elders sent each family a letter telling them to write down the amount of money they can expect from them.
The 'pledge' is anonymous and per family. The money is going to the local congregation's monthly rent and NOT payments going to the branch.
I will ask my friend how many pledges their congregation is making.
My questions are:
1.Are all congregations doing this or is it just this European congregation?
2.So how many pledges are there? 1 for congregational expenses and 1 for money sent to the branch?

Letting go of Highly Qualified Men
by James Jackson ini have been posting for a few months now and have read the life stories of tech49, confusedandalone, winston smith and other brothers who have held prominent positions in the organization who were dismissed not for any gross sins, but mainly for not keeping their child toeing the line.
they have been "cast aside", nit picked to death, and made to feel unworthy for their years of dedicated service.
even in my case, having my best friends treat me like the plague to jockey for position of recogntion.. is this what the organization is resorting to now?

Thanks losing it.
Confusedandalone, I agree. JWS are about the visual. There are many non-exemplary men serving simply because they are keeping up appeances.
Desirousofchange, regarding the example you have given, from what I have seen, it often depends on if you are good friends with the CO,DO,COBE etc. If you are, then your deficiences(children not exemplary) can be overlooked. There are many good men that have been sidelined simlpy because someone in the BO had a personal grudge. I stopped believing(I am embarrassed that I did) that holy spirit has anything to do with appointments or assignments in the WTS.

Coming out of lurkdom to post my 2cents.
I have never understood why an elder was removed or had to step down because of his children(even adult) children's failings, especially when he'd tried his best to raise his kids in the right way, but they rebelled anyway.
If we were to strictly follow this rule, then God would not qualify to be worshipped because his perfect children disobeyed. He could actually be seen as a bad example of a father. And we have biblical examples,e.g DAVID who would have had to step down from their positions since their families were not exemplary.
On the other hand, I didn't mind when egostiscal elders or ones who strained the gnat had to step down

Missionaries to vacate all missionary homes
by seenitall inlatest news from a source (missionary in foreign land):.
no more missionary homes anywhere in the world.. all missionaries presently in missionary homes must vacate.
must get housing on your own / from the locals.. circuit and district overseers have moved into many of these former missionary homes.. reasons: liability, cost savings, real estate to be sold or used for other purposes.. needless to say, many of these longtime servants are very unsettled.

Ditto with what ZuluTime wrote.
In many developing countries, the lifestyle they enjoy is much higher than the locals. So I can't say I am sorry to hear this news as many of them(some are genuine) have inherited the ugly behaviour from 'Mother' Metraton mentioned-cold, ruthless and uncaring treatment. They look down on the poor locals, treating them like children and kiss up to the wealthy ones-even if they are not spiritual by WTS standards.
This is a true story: In an country where an International Convention was being held, the local bethel called all the international guests for a meeting before convention. The speakers were missionaries(they run the bethel). The guests were warned against fratanizing too much with the locals because they would just beg them for money and the local sisters were just after husbands from abroad. All the gifts brought for the local brothers were collected by the bethel, distributed to missionaries and bethelites(whose standard of living is much higher than many brothers) and the rest of the gifts were sent further to another land. At the convention, the guests(except the Americans) were very wary of the locals. They were driven away from the stadium as soon as the Convention program was over. The locals were also seated very far from the delegates. After the 4day program, the guests were taken for safaris to see animals. So they spent very little time with their local brothers..
Many local brothers ended up wondering what had been the point of the INTERNATIONAL convention.
