Why doesn't the GB come out with specific rules on counting time
by trujw ini think we all know the reason millions of less hours.
when i was in we went to a rv by the kingdom hall then drove 30 minutes out to the country to knock on a door then back to the city for one more door.
god must be so proud!

That's how I "officially" heard it too. You time-in at the first door and time-out when you are done with the last door.
Don't feel bad because it wasn't clear to me at first either. No one actually told me. I just assumed time-in was when you leave the meeting for field service to time-out when you go back to your car.
I'm sure there are a lot of inflated hours out there. And maybe there is a bit of field service report padding going on too. But the lack of written rules on the subject leads to this situation.
I found out the "official" version when I was working with a pioneer one day and I mentioned that I got 30 minutes already traveling time. I was a little annoying losing those 30 minutes. LOL

They no longer keeping minutes of the meetings? I'm not surprised.
I guess it all comes down to a hand-shake on who stays and who gets kicked out.

But I am looking at the legalistic angle: the latest and greatest noo lite is very specific - Disfellowshipped.
Doesn't matter. They have their "oral law" and "secret interpretations" which allows them to use broad powers dealing with any kind of dissent or rebellion from the norm from anyone.
So no matter what kind of ace you think you have in your hand, they hold all the trump cards. And they can make new trump cards as they go along.
You can't win.

Circuit Leasing selling on JW.ORG ????
by yknot inso i was poking around jw.org a lil recently...... noticed this advertisement was still present in the 'privileged' section (ie you gotta have login access).

I knew that the WTS bought cars for the COs but I'm surprised that the handling of used cars is handed off to someone else. I'll bet that the individual that sells these used cars is also the one that sells new cars to the WTS. So it is a good deal both ways.
Frankly, considering that these are well maintained vehicles driven by men who are not aggresive drivers nor party animals, these are good prices for good used vehicles -- all kidding aside.

Over half a million $$$ to put up a wall of greenery at the Assembly Hall in Ajalvir, Spain
by illoowy inhow would you react if someone quoted you a price of over half a million us dollar$ to put up a wall of greenery at the assembly hall in ajalvir, spain?.
jhk's blog quotes spanish ex-jw's forum member nizam saying that the spanish brothers are aghast with the plan to close down the assembly hall at ajalvir, torrejon, (near madrid), spain.
the renovation will replace an outside terrace with a wall of greenery.

"The secretary will collect the slips of paper and add separately the amount that publishers can provide 1) per month and 2) each day of the assembly ."
I think those Spanish publishers should express their feelings through targetted exaggeration! What I mean is this. If I were those Spanish publishers I'd exaggerate and claim that we can donate 50,000 pesos per month and at each day of the assembly.
Then let's see if they will actually believe that and go ahead with the plan!

Judge dismisses Jehovah's Witness' "wrongful life" lawsuit - Dr. saved live with a blood transfusion

Why didn't she sue her husband for not letting her die and deprive the children of their mother?
It is really silly. It sounds more like a money scheme than an actual personal violation.
Furthermore, I'll bet that doctor and that medial staff will no longer handle JW cases!
But let's suppose that it was the elders that forced the family into this, they and the family lost far more than they started out with. Hospital Liason Committee can scratch a lot more names off their list of JW favorable doctors, medical specialists, medical staff, and facilities.

Pregnant Jehovah Witness in bikini protest
by sizemik ini know this is a bit old .
but wtf?
how nuts is this?.
-
Roddy
I'll bet later that week sister King met with the elders in the back room of the kingdom hall - she wearing a proper dress, of course - to "discuss" this protest.
I'd like to be the fly in the room to confirm that the CO and DO will be there too!
Let's face it, the bigger the publicity, the bigger the draw that one or both of these men will join that party to make sure that the elders handle this "properly".
LOL

may I blow my own horn?
by stillin insome of you may have had the same experience.
(i hope) i always worked hard on preparing to give talks to the congregation.
i am self-conscious and i need to feel as though i am really bringing something worthwhile "to the table.
-
Roddy
@stillin
So how do you make a talk not sound like a repeat of the same material from the same outline? Answer: by using less of the outline. Which became increasingly harder to do when public talks kept getting cut to shorter and shorter time slots giving you less opportunities to incorporate your own original material.
Then I made the discovery that it isn't the material -- it's the delivery! If you add variety to your speech, vocabulary, tone, facial expressions, gestures, maybe add a second or two of humor, then you can regurgitate the same material over and over again ... and the audience will think you are the best speaker in town!
Amazing!

STOP reading your bible! You're wasting your time!
by irondork inthebibleisanorganizationalbook.
8 all the law or torah that jehovah inspired moses to write was for this theocratic organization of israel.
so were all the other books that now comprise the hebrew scriptures, or the old testament as some persons refer to them.

@Qcmbr
Thank you for your comments.
I disagree. What I said is on the ball and is evident. No matter what you define as evolution the methods of evolution remains the same: elimination of the weak, survival of the fittest, death and struggle is an evolutionary progression that eliminates the unfit for whatever reason, and so on.
Now, I noticed you moved the subject to one more toward social evolution. Social evolution favors mutually beneficial or selfish behaviors.
As our societies continue to disintegrate we are seeing less of "mutually beneficial" social evolution and more of "selfish behaviors" social evolution. When the Bible's influence was strong in society we saw the opposite. As we see the Bible's influence decrease in society we more of the "selfish behaviors" with the implication that that is human society's "natural" gravitation.
No surprises here!
Having said that, we have come accustomed to the rules of "fair play" and doing things "by the book". What constitutes "fair" and what "book" to follow is always up to interpretation -- often favoring the one with the power, the influence, the political savvy, the winning blackmail, and/or a host of other wild cards that stacks "him" higher than "you".
So after, as you say, "millions of years of evolution that strongly rewards (emotionally, physically and in terms of survivability and efficiency) family and and clan cooperation", if you can't beat them, then make alliances. And those alliances are good only when the status quo is maintained. When either one of you sees an advantage, you had better "do it" first before he "does it" to you. LOL (So, you see? It's not "cooperation" but biding your time until you are stronger or your "partner" is weaker -- so much for millions of years of "evolutionary cooperation" as you claim.)
And it goes right back to what I said before: You can enjoy a world that is run (socially) by evolution where the strong (in whatever necessary ways) survive. Or you can enjoy a world where (God's) righteousness dwells - which is quite un-evolutionary paradigm as it gets.I think even the most strident evolutionist wouldn't favor a strictly evolutionary world -- unless he sits at the top of the hill and holds all the cards.
