Billy you just could be right! It is time to don the taffeta sweet-wrapper dresses and parade about looking virginal. Then the brothers will have to put on the raybans to ensure discretion while gawking.

Aparently the sisters can all go to hell? Why can't they be included in this incredible warning? Maybe they should be baking so the brothers can watch more fully?

The Watchtower Didn't Make Me An Atheist
by B_Deserter inive posted on this before, but i figured i should lay my thoughts out again on the subject.
there are some in the ex-jw community who are saddened because the watchtower organization has turned me and others like me off to god.
the watchtower attacks and debunks other religions on a regular basis, often giving us the sense that if the watchtower is wrong, then there cant be a god.

When I was desperately trying to convince my boyfriend (now husband) that of course there was a god, why can't you just see and believe like the rest of us enlightened JW's, he agreed to study the bible. I remember exactly that episode in whichever publication it was we were studying, about how science hasn't been able to replicate creation and the whole amino acid/atmosphere blurb. I was totally triumphant that I could show him that science couldn't do it so it had to be god. He came back with some extra research that indeed, showed that science is getting closer all the time to (what I just learned was called) abiogenesis. He suggested that maybe with more time they will get all of them. So I learned that all the "closely-held truths" about creation and god can be challenged. The WTBTS will only publish parts of articles that support its position. You won't read that the scientific community are getting closer with each passing year to explaining mysteries that were once thought to be unsolvable, in the pages of an Awake! magazine.
It was probably that first seed of doubt about the dubs that caused me to think that if they weren't actually honest about this, then their other doctrines are open to challenge too. And it followed, for me anyway, that if they don't present the whole story... WHY don't they? What would they possibly have to hide, or to lose, by being open to critical analysis? I mean, the organisation is led by mean who are inspired of god, giving the food at the proper time and such, so it has to stand up to being picked apart by mere humans. I personally found it wasn't, didn't and can't be. Because at each and every point that it looks shaky, that is a point that you just "have to have faith".

Losing the Ego, easier said than done
by homeschool ini've read steven hassan's combatting cult mind control, and i can see that it's impossible to say anything negative about their religion/cult.
thats just really stinkin' tough when you have proof and evidence of things and they are in lala land about their cult!
about ten years ago, i was a lot more outspoken about how i felt about the jw's, but have since grown up a bit.

Or point her to that youtube video that was posted earlier that discusses 1975 and shows with wtbs literature and audio from Fred Franz specifically talking about not just 1975, but even down to a specific date in September when Armageddon was going to come. They can poopoo it all they want, but it's on the record. Gotta love that new light. It can be blinding sometimes.

Elemental, where does the Bible prove a god exists? Just curious as you seem to have a fairly deep take on the subject. Most everything I was taught as a JW was that first you had to have faith. What did I overlook in the bible that doesn't require faith in a god to believe in it?
