I wasn't actually looking for anyone to 'debunk' the Bible Code book. Just was curious as to opinions.

Question: Do you think God is a Nice God or a Trickster? Me, I think God is Good. I think it is man's twisted thinking and interpretation that has made God to seem cruel (i.e. books like this subject).

Question: Do you think God is playing a game with us? Me, I think not. I think we play our own games with our own reasoning as to what suits us as right. If whatever organization doesn't fit our way of thinking then we jump away for whatever reason and critisize it for what we don't agree with and try to find others to agree with us to make ourselves feel better about it.

Question: Are there simple answers? Yes and no. It is all in what we are willing to do. It may be simple for a less fortunate person to give up material possessions for 'everlasting life' but hard for the same person to give 40 hours a month in field service because they have to work 3 jobs to support a family. It may be difficult for a rich person to give up material possessions for 'everlasting life' because maybe they are dependant on comfort and security, yet, easier for the same person to devote 40 hours a month in field service because they make enough money and have the time to do so. The answer lies in what we are individually doing to serve our God, however we view Him. No man can judge. If we have LOVE for our fellow man (women, child and animal), COMPASSION and FORGIVENESS for ourselves and others, if we aren't committing any grave sin, why should we have to wonder? To serve God with our "Whole hearts, our whole soul... whatever that means to you, if we think that we are doing that....why wonder? The answer is simple: Love.

I don't know if there is a CODE in the Bible. I don't believe there is. It was a point of argument for me and my S.O. and I was pleased to see that I wasn't the only person that viewed the book as junk, because I just don't believe that a God of Love, regardless, would trick us and make a CODE that would be "discovered" by some guy that so happened to be investigated by some other guy, who just thought it would be a good idea to write a book about it! Go figure.

Thank you DakotaRed. I try to keep an open mind about what I read too. What I found interesting about the Bible Code is that it seems to sort of jump around (in my opinion) and speculation seems to be the prevailing assumption! That about sums up my review of the book! (are you scratching your head?).

I am confused too. Lately I feel like I am one of those "stepping stones". I live with someone that believes "once saved always saved" and have asked him on numerous occasions: "what is it like to live with a spiritually dead person (only because I have not 'proclaimed' my request to be 'saved' in the face of man)?" I get no real answer. I believe. No, I am not perfect (who is?). I try. I live, I love, I give. I wonder too. If I don't go to "church" am I a bad person?

I don't go to "church" because the same people that are out the night before are in church acting all righteous the next day. Not that going out is a bad thing, it is just that the stuff that I see these people do when they are out ....(you know what I mean?). My S.O. (Significant Other) thinks so. He thinks all you have to do (if you are "Saved") is to pray and ask for forgiveness and all is well. Here I am a statistic. I am neither hot or cold (something to spit out), yet at the same time I am not committing any crime, but a crime is committed against me. I forgive the grave crime. I ask my S.O: "if so & so that committed this crime against me is "saved" does what he did make it a crime against GOD?" (That is if this person has this "once saved always saved" belief and asks for forgiveness after committing the crime against me (the 'not saved' person) I ask)? My S.O. says, "yes, if he is 'saved' all he has to do is ask for forgiveness." Can you believe that? Here I am trying to do good and there is some maniac out there that at some point in his life got "saved" and can committ all kinds of bad things an all he has to do is ask for forgiveness? "yes" says my ALL ENLIGHTENED and DON'T ARGUE WITH ME S.O (significant other). GREAT! GREAT! I am the doomed one then? YES, SO HE SAYS. Go figure.

The reason I brought the subject up is because I and my S.O. (Significant Other) are constantly arguing on topics of Bible prophesy and interpretation. I for one take things written in the Bible as instruction, prophesy and warning. I Believe that God is a loving and kind God and that He pretty much spelled everything out in the Scriptures by using His disciples here on earth to convey that in written form...end of story. AND that things WILL and are being revealed to us as the time is right for them to be revealed. Then along comes this guy with his CODE, he writes a book (of which he makes a few $$$). People like my S.O. Buy it an read it. I read it only because I want to have something to argue about (but mind you I didn't buy the book....). After reading it (or some of it...because honestly, it sort of doesn't make sense completely, plus the fact that I like to read before going to bed and I would have bad dreams after falling asleep after reading it) I try to put myself into the shoes of a person that would TOTALLY believe this interpretation and think to myself..."WHY?" Why am I even doing what I am doing? Why do I even try? Because if no one ever read this CODE and it was never discovered AND IF (key word...IF) it were true...that GOD has a CODE in the Scriptures, then basically what it is saying is that ALL is pre-destined? That no matter what, all the CODED stuff that nobody discovered is going to come to pass and that we are all some part of a cruel joke? GOD created this earth....Jesus died for our sins.....only to have the earth destroyed by atomic destruction?

My argument with my S.O. was (just to get something started) was, "so, what you are saying is there's this guy who put the whole Hebrew scriptures into a computer, EVERY WORD END TO END with no spaces and so forth....? AND then to make some "mathematical word find" program with it? AND along comes some "journalist" that is AMAZED? (Hey, dude, you need to write a book....you could be on to something.(wink, wink)...like maybe you and me could make a few bucks, because I know there are people out there that will "buy" this)? His response (my S.O): Yeah.
But please understand this (the response) is coming from my S.O. that believes "Once Saved Always Saved". Which makes me question him as to WHY would he even be interested in what is going to happen....CODE or no CODE? Me thinks he doubts his salvation....maybe?

I apologize if I am out of line here, I just wanted to see if anyone else read it. Go figure.
