anyone seen the drama on friday ?.
it was about a pioneer couple, when the husband, also an elder, lost his job, and borrowed money from a fellwo elder, who apparently was considered weatlthy.. the main lesson of the drama was quite ok, even though a bit overdone, touching on the issue of gossip and false assumptions.. but there were at least two subtle lessons, whitch were quite disturbing:.
1) no matter what happens, remain pioneering.
What is pioneering except standing at the doors begging for money to send to the Watchtower. Of course it's the most important work in the world today so regardless of the weather, job loss, aches, pains. outright sickness and no money, you get out there in service. Watchtower is so financially poor that they need every penny that can be sent. (yeah, right).
Older ones, use your pension and buy a computer. Good advice, but don't go to jw.org, go to Jehovahs-Witness.net.
then why would they be so insistent about dfing people ?
if it's money the watchtower org is after, it seems like they'd want to hold on to all the members they can.. how would you answer this logic?.
They want us to have the "slave mentality" so that whatever comes to our economy, we'll fit right in.
can we compile a list of things you have to believe as a jw.
perhaps with references.

on a previous post on the bible's sex-violence several mentioned children and the yellow book (1978 version).
i will compile a list here.. one only needs to go to story 6 to find a man smashing his brothers skull in and picture of his brother's blood on the ground.
the very next story 7 has pictures of violence, clut worship, drunkeness, (unimplied sex).. the next story 8 shows a giant beating a person the death while holding them with one hand.
Another thing. I was visiting my son in Knoxville and his little boy mentioned at the supper table that "and they killed all the baby boys". They take him to a private day care sponsored by a religion. My son nearly hit the roof. He had to attend all the meetings because his cult-filled mother made him go. He said "they did not". Grandson said, "yes they did, Daddy". "No, they didn't". At that time, I nearly piped up with "yes, they did". That was before I knew the Bible is a plagerized book and full of lies. (Two years ago.) The next day my son went to the Day Care and gave them a talking to.
i have been inactive for going on five years after an accerated fade.
my wife followed shortly after.
we recently went to visit her parents that know that we don't go to the meetings, and it bothers them but they don't know what to do, as they really can't do much.
I think you are handling it very well. There are tense moments around relatives whether any has ever been in the Watchtower so keep on being nice to them. Undoutedly they are getting older and soon will need some type of help, and you guys will be there for them I'm sure. They mean well.

It really should be banned. But then, I think the Bible should be banned for its graphic portrayal of violence. When I was "in", I didn't see a thing wrong with those stories and now I see that it is showing us the Bible god as he really is, a pathetic, evil person and some people actually learn from those stories and imitate them. I think that's why there is so much evil in the world, after all, if god does it, isn't he setting the example?
after the 1975 "we did not say point blank armaggeddon was coming we only suggested it might come" fiasco what is the new date jws are "hinting" at for armaggeddon?
i know now they do not point to any specific date but hint that maybe it might occur such as before 2000 the preaching work will be finished.
this is a suggestion not a prediction so they can wiggle out of this one.

he wanted all his people to be window washers, toilet bowl cleaners, floor moppers, minimum wage workers, not get an education to get higher paying jobs and have some security, and now this country is being flooded by plenty of workers that will do minimum wage jobs.
kind of leaves us begging.
why didn't he see this coming and encourage us to get educated while we had the chance.
Interesting, Focus. Another thing I was thinking of is how Watchtowers god can't see very far into the future is the computer thing. It was so demonized a few years ago when we should have been encouraged to learn it. Now, we all have been getting older and they want us to go to jw.org or whatever it is, and the older ones are literally scared of using it. I was. Watchtowers god does not love his people, folks, don't believe the lies at the Kingdom Hall. If he can't see any further into the future to see that the internet is going to be so so important than is he really a god? Or a fake god?
it will be interesting to see how things play out...but one example which got me to thinking about this is my mother.
my mom is a 76 year old regular pioneer (she is one of those who believes that you are "nothing" if you are not a pioneer...the position is everything)-.
i am moving in two weeks to go to grad school, so i have been trying to go out to visit...say goodbye...do things for her before i leave.
Coffee, I got a book from the library that litarally had a picture of the keyboard and steps that would say "hit enter". It was a computer book for the elderly, and it was so basic that anyone wanting to learn a computer would find it just wonderful. As you progress, it teaches step by step how to write and send an e-mail. It would be good if she got that book and then she and you could e-mail each other!
