well i took my course on ja-eeeeee-sus last term..........got 96% grade!!

Home school
by Globetrotter inmy son told me the other day that he and his sister are just about the only kids at the kh their age that go to public/private schools.
almost all the other kids are home-schooled.
i was rather shocked.

Well I will put the cat among the pigeons.
I have home educated our two younger children at home for quite some time.
I emphasise NOW, that even tho I was a JW, that was never the reason for taking them out of school... I feel that excuse is like a lame duck. (The ones that I met, were pathetic and embarrassing to say the least)
I was unimpressed with the education that our children were receiving (both are very bright, intelligent people). I worked voluntarily at the school, and was totally disallusioned with the whole education system.
18 months later I put them back in to school, and both did very well......... in fact far beyond what was expected on both age groups!!
Secondary school, and again, totally unimpressed, we therefore gave the children a choice, stay in school or home educate, both opted for home schooling, and both are doing brilliantly.
14 & 15 yrs old, drama school, computer, great social life (with school children, who are envious yeah right) both children are focused on future careers, know exactly what life is about (heck being a JW and the opposition since leaving has certainly been a social lesson).
So all I can say is, everyone has an opinion, and entitled to it. All I know is that it has worked for us, and in the end that is all that matters!!!!!!!!!!
So send on the guns.
Note : one of our children was rated as 'special needs' needed one to one, concentration etc... hhhmmm... sorted that one out, he is so clever school bored him, so he became the clown of the class... and the teachers were not bothered.
I can understand the need for social lessons, but our children can certainly hold a conversation and have a laugh with the best of us. both have strong opinions, and can hold a room. but are still children, enjoying growing up, and not having to be some young upstart having to impress the rest of the class to gain social standing be it gangs or whatever else is required in school these days.
College now beckons... adulthood looms, but both are more than capable of coping with the big bad world as both Chris and I have made damned sure that the world holds no secrets to them.....our two older sons have certainly made sure of this.... so yes home schooling works if for the correct reasons........... but not religious NO WAY...........

We have not posted as much, just as we have been so busy getting the house straight, but slowly and surely everything is falling into place. We have not forgotten about any of you. So once again, have a lovely holiday, and try not to eat too much (Yeah right).....

We are loving it - I accept that it can be expensive, but so what.....as long as the kids have a good time.
This is our first proper Xmas, and we are making sure that we enjoy ourselves. The invites for parties are coming in, people are wanting to come and visit (and don't feel awkward).
The tree looks great, the pressies are nearly all wrapped, and the last minute shopping gets done tomorrow.
Mr NW (Chris) is trying to be cool about the whole thing, but he is just as excited as the children.... as the saying goes, men just never grow up!!!!!!!!
Anyway have a lovely holiday one and all. HAPPY CHRISTMAS

We went to the Winterwonderland Fest at the Dome
by nightwarrior inwell, this is the first proper christmas that we will be having, so no holds barred.. the dome (uk) is holding a winterfestival, so i took the children, it was really christmassy, we loved it.. no doubt i could find loads of faults, but what the heck, the kids had a great time, going on all the rides hundreds of times, and eating themselves silly.
ps.. rides and food don't always mix lol.. a good friend of mine came along, with her two kids as well, so when we get the photos, i will attempt to put them on here to show you.. by the way, my friend is my christmas guru, as she calls me her christmas virgin, so she is having great fun showing me some of the ropes.... mind you... i don't need much help.. but it is nice for her to feel wanted... she is as excited as me this christmas.. so if any of you are going to the dome, give us a shout, we only live up the road..... this was a nice way to start the xmas holiday feeling.... so go on try it!!!!!!!!!!!.

well now that we have moved, roll on next summer, we did say that we would have a bbq here in london, so Chris and I will have to put our heads together.... the decking should be done, and maybe a conservatory as well, who knows... but we certainly have the room for a good party... i will even let you walk on the lawn - well it will have taken by then - maybe I will supply the hover boots LOL.
