Princess, you must have really gotten their attention with your midsection showing like that.
And yes, the empty seats sure are noticeable too.
steve and i attended our very last meeting this evening.
i wrote a thread a few weeks ago about our elder visit and their decision to announce that we were disassociated.
they agreed to wait until we returned from our vacation so i could tell my grandma who still attends via phone link and so she wouldn't have to be alone in her devastation.

we have all sat at jw meetings and heard some ridiculous statements that were either shocking or just plain old bunk.
usually it is the same jw individuals that make those statements time and time again.
you know the type..... you can almost expect such comments from them.. jws place great importance on what statements or persons are 'stage worthy'.
Alan, thanks for the reference.
Some funny ones on this thread....but Viv, what that elder said, at a funeral, in front of the children there was terrible.
we ex-jws know very well how much the watchtower society put us under pressure to believe that "armageddon is just around the corner".
they've been doing it in one form or another ever since charles taze russell began publishing his nonsense.
in 1877 he advocated that true christians should believe that christ would "take them home" in 1878. when that didn't happen he moved the event up to 1881. after that he focused on 1914.. the society is still doing pretty much the same thing, building up expectations and then revising them, decade after decade.
Sword, it would be nice if you could produce some evidence here to back up what you are saying.
I think Alan F has done a good job of backing up what he believes to be true. If you can refute some of his points, by all means give it a try. Thus far, at least in this thread, I haven't noticed any evidence presented by you.
I'm not trying to jump into the fray here, just trying to see some objective presentation of evidence.
.
today, for some reason, i've had the kinks tune victoria stuck in my head.
what songs are stuck in your head tonight?
LDH, a few years back I was in Disney World and went into the Small World ride and that freaking song kept playing over and over in my mind, and to this day, every now and then, my family reminds me about that....my daughter recently downloaded it and played it back to me, and I said "NO! NO!"
.
if anyone knows the date of the 2003 memorial, could they please post it?
comment
Blondie, I doubt they'll cancel meetings held Tuesday or Thursday, though I would imagine that some elders may decide to do so on a local basis, unless they receive instructions otherwise. Normally, the only instructions they get on that are that they are to schedule no other meetings the day of the blessed event.

Excellent points made here, good post Alan F. It seems to me that it's the same info, recycled, that they've used for so many years. What the result then is millions of jws time-stressed and unable to live a normal life while they wait, wait, wait with this so-called 'sense of urgency'.
Jesus cautionary words about not knowing the day and hour, and the end coming at a time when we one would think not likely always seem to me to have been brushed aside by the WTS. Plus, to me, they fit the description by Jesus of one who would say 'look, there he is' or 'see there', to which Jesus said not to go after them.

"many religious scholars, though, see a broader definition of religion and the raelians fit it, they say, just as scientologists, jehovah's witnesses and mormons do.

good one no one!!
so, here are my first round playoff predictions (as if any of you care...lol!
colts 23, jets 15 (the jets had their super bowl vs. the packers).
packers 21, falcons 17 (i have a hunch that atlanta may pull the upset but you can't root against the pack at lambeau).
Hey funch, 1of 4 aint bad, lol.....but hey, I'd have come in with the same numbers, or maybe 2-2 at best. I thought the Pack and Giants would win.
Raiders will win it all, I think, beating my preseason pick, the Eagles, in SB 37.
don't you hate those radio commercials for automobile dealers that scream at you very loudly, and always say the have the cheapest deals in town.
i also hate it when the say that their prices start at invoice cost.....do they think all consumers are just total idiots..... .

What is it about threads like this? Pet peeves, things you hate, etc. They seem to come around about once every month or so.
i haven't been 'on' as my dad died 12/21 suddenly, before that i was about to do the 'lawsuit thing' to see my granddaughter, then 2 days ago my mother was rushed to the hospital and has had a mild stroke...i am totally out of it...but i do have 'good news'.. i'm going to see my granddaughter!!!!!
turns out, thru all of what's happened lately, i found out that my jw sister lied to my daughter 2 years ago, and she wasn't shunning me, she was upset about the fact my sister lied to her (causing this!
) it always 'comes back' as they say..karma, reaping what you sow, etc., ...thanks to all of you kind people..i can't wait to get back on and read the posts...you're doing a great service, to all like and unlike me!
Good news among all the sad times Nancy K. I'm sorry to hear about your dad, and now your mom.
