Who's your favorite Devil?
by Twitch ink, just for fun,.... i was watching the movie prophecy the other day and viggo mortenson's portrayal of lucifer was rather good imo.
i thought of another movie i saw, constantine where peter stormare played the same part, somewhat differently of course but a well done portrayal nonetheless.
so, who's your favorite devil?

I'm Fading.... From This Board
by rocketman inas 2004 winds down and my 4th year of association at this board winds down as well, my posting stats accurately reflect a transitition that been going on for me with respect to the jw religion, a process that is quite natural and healthy.
i'm sure that many members have had a similar experience.
here's a rundown of four years here for me: .

Another year goes by...I haven't visited this board for an entire year. Checking around, it appears some old friends are still here. Anyway, the JW religion is not even a blip on my radar. It's been a JW-free year, virtually. I bumped into two witnesses (besides relatives) this year, and neither asked me anything about why I no longer attend. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all. And maybe I'll stop back again, good Lord willing, next December....

Another year goes by. Only 73 posts in year 6.... I'm really annoyed at having to login here after only about 48-72 hours of non-visitation. And yes, I check the 'remember' box for my computer. This is the only site I frequent that does this. So the fade continues.....

Report of bin Laden's death...
by Funchback ini don't know if it's true or not.. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/14963302/.
french paper says bin laden died in pakistansaudi arabia is convinced al-qaida leader died of typhoid, paper saysupdated: 48 minutes agoparis - a french regional newspaper quoted a french secret service report on saturday as saying that saudi arabia is convinced that al-qaida leader osama bin laden died of typhoid in pakistan last month.. l'est republicain printed what it said was a copy of the report dated sept. 21 and said it was shown to president jacques chirac, prime minister dominique de villepin and france's interior and defense ministers on the same day.
according to a usually reliable source, the saudi services are now convinced that osama bin laden is dead, the document said.. the information gathered by the saudis indicates that the head of al-qaida was a victim while he was in pakistan on aug. 23, 2006, of a very serious case of typhoid which led to a partial paralysis of his internal organs.. the report, which was stamped with a confidential defense label and the initials of the french secret service, said saudi arabia first heard the information on sept. 4 and that it was waiting for more details before making an official announcement.. officials contacted by reuters in chirac's and villepin's offices had no immediate comment.. a senior official in pakistan's interior ministry said: "we have no information about osama's death.".

Now that Bobby Brown and Whitney Houston have split, Osama is busy courting her.

POLL : Your reaction IF all religion was suddenly banned worldwide
by fish inim interested in hearing what your personal reaction would be if (i say if because probably 99.9% here believe this will never happen) all the religions of the world were to be suddenly banned/shut down/decommissioned/liquidated/dismembered/etc.. by the political powers of the world.
what would your first post here say?
would it change your view of jehovah...of the "org"?

.
I would lmao because such a thing would never fly if it were not the will of the people. If some sort of global dictator tried to ban all religion it would create a massive international insurgency like nothing the world has seen before.
My thinking exactly....the greatest power in the world can't even control the insurgency in Iraq.
But let's say it did somehow happen....I'd be glad, because the chances for real world peace would increase greatly (but humans would find something else to fight over anyway).

Physical attributes in men and women
by greendawn inthey say that in women (physical) looks are the most important factor for attracting a mate whereas for men it is other things eg personality, wealth, status, as if there are a lot more aspects to male existence.
.
so how would you choose (or did) choose a mate, eg was a woman's physical side of paramount importance or did you also weigh that seriously against character personality, culture, etc.
-

For me, looks are part of the inititial attraction, with other attributes and qualities coming to the fore once I get to know a woman. Appearance does continue to play a part, but I'd like to think I'm not so shallow as to view it as paramount.....or so I'd like to think.

Alone With the Opposite Sex
by purplesofa inover the last few months i have been training three different men for backup position of my job.. we are alone in my car all day.. as a jw, i remember one time, needing to go to another congo in a different town to work on a part at an assembly.
i was to ride with the brother doing the part.
he was probably at least 30+ years older than me.

Yep, this all underscores the jw obsession with sex.
One time, I was out in service with a sister (married), alone, because another car group for some reason failed to show in the territory. The sister and I decided later to hit the local bagel shop for coffee break. An elder and his car group came just before we left.
Later, I got a phone call from the elder wondering why I was alone with her and he attempted to counsel me on the impropriety of being alone with her. The thought of having sex with this woman never crossed my mind. It obviously crossed his.
These days, I routinely have lunch, alone, with various female friends. Sex has yet to occur, and frankly I'm too hungry over my lunch hour to think about sex. Guess that doesn't make me a good jw.

Name Things JWs Try To "Demonize"
by minimus inthe witnesses are always trying to scare the faithful by telling them that if they don't adhere to the teachings and lifestyle of the brotherhood-----that bad things are going to happen to them.
for example, they might tell you of brother regret who left the "truth", had "fun" in the "world" and then got aids.
now he's back in the "truth" but he only has months to live................can you think of other examples of how the witnesses try to spook the rank and file?

I'd be easier to name things that jws don't demonize. The demonization list is long - though the fingernails thing is a new one, I must say.

perhaps many will say - are you crazy, james?
what does it matter?.

minimus is on restrictions
.....and just as with the jws, there is no scriptural basis for such "restrictions".
