I should add that I think Rutherford win easily outdistance Russell in a Poll. I'm reading Slimboyfat's thread now, which is much more comprehensive since it includes other WT leaders, including Fred Franz, who, with Rutherford, garners a lot of votes on that thread from what I read so far.

Who's the biggest WT villian? Russell/Rutherford/Knorr/Franz?
by Las Malvinas son Argentinas inmine is rutherford.
the bible student movement of russell was badly splintered after the usurpation and was destined to fade away like the other russellite movements.
then judge joe decides to rebrand with 'jehovah's witnesses' and concieves of many different schemes designed to put his people into danger and gaining publicity for a sect that no one really thought about any more.

I'm going to check out slimboyfat's thread - I missed it. But in the meantime, if a Poll were conducted, I'm quite certain that J.F. Rutherford would "win" hands-down. In fact, I would go as far as to say that he would garner virtually every vote.

Ever Have A Close Call?
by rocketman inyesterday i had a close call on the road - an out-of-control pickup truck veered into my lane, spinning as it approached and crashed into a pole about 50 feet in front of my car.
this is the second close encounter i've had, (both involving someone driving a pickup truck).
in this case, a couple of seconds made a huge difference, since i may have been directly hit had i just been a bit further along in my drive.. i would imagine that once a few days pass, i'll give less and less thought to the incident and i doubt it will precipitate major changes in my life or outlook (which i generally think is pretty healthy).

Wow, cofty, that was a close call.
Finally Awake - that might be might worst nightmare, being submerged in a car.
Doofdaddy, that's quite an experience - a driver on meth trying to negotiate a road like that. Now THAT'S a recipe for disaster.

Wow, some real hair-raisers, and many of them a lot closer-to-disaster than my experience yesterday!
Giordano, I aslo nearly drowned in the high school swimming pool. I got in over my head, literally, and before I knew it I was struggling. A fellow classmate rescued me.
Satanus, I know what you mean about drivers who turn around. A guy I used to hang around with would constantly turn to talk to back seat passengers when he drove, which is one reason I no longer hang around with him.

Thanks Sophie6,
Yep, I'm fine. I'm not sure about the driver of the pickup - there have been no news reports. A policeman was talking with him when I left the scene, so despite the violent collision with the utility pole, he might be OK.
I actually was in an accident about twenty five years ago, when my car was rear-ended by another driver, a younger kid who didn't bother cleaning off his icy windshield. He only cleared a small hole to look through. That incident shook me up too, but I had just a very minor injury. It still does come to mind on winter mornings when I'm cleaning my windshield.

Have you ever had a close call, a near-accident, or an actual accident that left you wondering what might have been had the timing been just a little different? Did it make you think any differently about your life or life in general?

WatchtowerÂ’s Collective
by Marvin Shilmer inwatchtowers collective .
today i added a new article to my blog highlighting a fairly recent study of the watchtower organizations treatment of raced people.
what she ends up stating is shocking to read, but its what folks have been saying for years and years.

I read the Scripture differently than you do. I see at least a degree of deconstruction of race implied. I'm not saying it says to "forget" or "displace" their racial ties. I'm saying that there's a matter of degree implied.

Colossians 3:11: "In Christ there is not Greek and Jew, circumcision and uncircumcision, barbarian, Scythian, slave and free; but Christ is all and in all. " (Holman Christian Standard Bible)
Doesn't that scripture argue that there is, to some degree, a "deconstruction" of race, with Jesus Christ (as opposed to a particular religion) as the focus of allegiance?
The argument, of course, is to what degree the WTS replaces Christ. But whatever the case, Christians are asked to set aside racial and national divisions in the interests of unity in Christ.
Comments on this scripture, from Barnes' Notes On The Bible "But Christ is all, and in all - The great thing that constitutes the uniqueness of the church is, that Christ is its Saviour, and that all are his friends and followers. Its members lay aside all other distinctions, and are known only as his friends. They are not known as Jews and Gentiles; as of this nation or that; as slaves or freemen, but they are known as Christians; distinguished from all the rest of mankind as the united friends of the Redeemer".
Jehovah's Witnesses, of course, claim to "lay aside all other distinctions" too, in the interests of their religious unity.
Does the third-party academic allow for the fact that Christianity calls for a setting aside of racial distinctions? If so, then the question is simply whether the WTS substitutes itself for Christ. But if not, then that academic may not fully appreciate that what occurs among Jehovah's Witnesses in this regard is something that the Bible calls for among those claiming unity with Christ.

AAWA, like a certain organization we all know and, cough, cough,....love, is going through an early "testing" and "sifting".
