Bible Teach Book has been getting a facelift WT Style

well the book they use to conduct bible studies is already showing its age, and just like the changes they made to the live forever book they are doing it to the bible teach book as well.

Bear in mind that these drawings are not depicting Armageddon. They're depicting conditions on Earth, all of which we've seen in various news accounts and films. We've all seen footage of starving people, for example. And photos of bombed-out cities especially from WWII are readily available.

These aren't the gruesome images based on the Society's expectations regarding Armageddon that we have seen in many publications, although I'd surmise that they could swap them in for Armageddon pictures quite easily, with destruction raining from above being the only real difference.

the bible student movement of russell was badly splintered after the usurpation and was destined to fade away like the other russellite movements.

then judge joe decides to rebrand with 'jehovah's witnesses' and concieves of many different schemes designed to put his people into danger and gaining publicity for a sect that no one really thought about any more.

Reslight's comments do highlight a big reason why I personally don't hold Russell as responsible as Rutherford and subsequent WT leaders - there was freedom to disagree, and the Bible Students didn't claim to be organized "Theocratically", a notion which originated with Rutherford.

Without Rutherford, I think the entire history changes most significantly than it would have by subtracting Knorr or Franz or any other leader. In other words, by subtraction, removing Rutherford from the equation would have, in my theoretical scenario anyway, changed the organization the most because it would not have become so autocratic.

So yes, Russell started the whole thing, and the noose of 1914 is still attached, but I don't think that he in any way envisaged what we've seen from this religion since his passing.

JULY 15th Study Watchtower - NEW LIGHT IS FANTASY

the july 15 study watchtower uses all 4 study articles to try to inculcate into every witnesses' mind that the governing body is indisputably god's sole channel of communication on earth.

to do so, it uses a multitude of scriptures along with seriously flawed un-inspired reasoning.

the foundation stone of this watchtower's blatant agenda is the claim that when jesus used only a few to dispense the physical food to the many, he was setting a principle which would be applied to the distribution of spiritual food after he returned to heaven.

Some excellent (and funny) comments.

I am forced to wonder how many are actually involved in the distribution of so-called spiritual food. There are people besides the Governing Body who are involved. The GB clearly doesn't do it all - they just have oversight of it. And I wonder how much direct oversight they really have in terms of actual, hands-on involvement.

I should add that I think Rutherford win easily outdistance Russell in a Poll. I'm reading Slimboyfat's thread now, which is much more comprehensive since it includes other WT leaders, including Fred Franz, who, with Rutherford, garners a lot of votes on that thread from what I read so far.

I'm going to check out slimboyfat's thread - I missed it. But in the meantime, if a Poll were conducted, I'm quite certain that J.F. Rutherford would "win" hands-down. In fact, I would go as far as to say that he would garner virtually every vote.

yesterday i had a close call on the road - an out-of-control pickup truck veered into my lane, spinning as it approached and crashed into a pole about 50 feet in front of my car.

this is the second close encounter i've had, (both involving someone driving a pickup truck).

in this case, a couple of seconds made a huge difference, since i may have been directly hit had i just been a bit further along in my drive.. i would imagine that once a few days pass, i'll give less and less thought to the incident and i doubt it will precipitate major changes in my life or outlook (which i generally think is pretty healthy).

Finally Awake - that might be might worst nightmare, being submerged in a car.

Doofdaddy, that's quite an experience - a driver on meth trying to negotiate a road like that. Now THAT'S a recipe for disaster.

Wow, some real hair-raisers, and many of them a lot closer-to-disaster than my experience yesterday!

Giordano, I aslo nearly drowned in the high school swimming pool. I got in over my head, literally, and before I knew it I was struggling. A fellow classmate rescued me.

Satanus, I know what you mean about drivers who turn around. A guy I used to hang around with would constantly turn to talk to back seat passengers when he drove, which is one reason I no longer hang around with him.

Yep, I'm fine. I'm not sure about the driver of the pickup - there have been no news reports. A policeman was talking with him when I left the scene, so despite the violent collision with the utility pole, he might be OK.

I actually was in an accident about twenty five years ago, when my car was rear-ended by another driver, a younger kid who didn't bother cleaning off his icy windshield. He only cleared a small hole to look through. That incident shook me up too, but I had just a very minor injury. It still does come to mind on winter mornings when I'm cleaning my windshield.
