This is really great. I hope other lawyer firms also join in so that we see this type of commercial no matter where you live.

TV commercial seen in the United States, from a Law firm "Asking if you were ever sexually abused by JEHOVAHS WITNESSES, please call".
by Dunedain inok, so i don't know if this is "old news", and if this has been seen, and or mentioned already.
if it was, i do apologize, but i feel i have to mention what has been seen on tv, within the past 24 hours.. first off, i would like to say that i did not personally see this commercial.
however, it was seen by someone that i can verify 100% is telling the truth, as it was my own father who saw it.

Those songs are much longer than the one sang now. About 2 or 3 times as long and a lot better. The religion surely has changed and after listening to those songs it seems like the heart is taken out of the new songs. Just a bunch of flub to me, just words with no substance.

Griffin Assembly Hall (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) now a Megachurch
by Sanchy inmy mom, while pregnant with me, was one of thousands of jw volunteers to work on the construction of this once beautiful assembly hall in south florida circa 1984. it had a beautiful pond, waterfall, and even a resident alligator.
many remember it as well for it's huge plaster murals on the walls showing scenes of paradises.. pics as it was before (sorry for the low quality, struggled to find good pics of the auditorium as it was, if you have any good ones, do share them):.

"Almost 7 years later, money from sale vanished and there's no more talk of a new hall closer to us. "
The same thing can be said for a supposed Assembly hall that for about a year and half took in donations for in the SW Ohio area. The hall was supposed to be built in Cincinnati, OH. But all of the sudden, poof, it was gone. And there was $1.8 million donated towards it. I asked an elder what happened to that money. He said, "Oh, it's with the branch now."
Oh, how nice. :(

Prayer vs. Meditation
by schnell inwhenever i prayed, it was always done consciously and ostensibly to another person -- a higher, spirit person -- called jehovah.
the subject was always something about me, even if it was for someone else.
if i prayed to thank jehovah for my meal, it was about me.

I never thought of it this way. Thanks.

Let's compare, shall we
by LevelThePlayingField inif you did a news search on google news today, jan. 15, 2017 what would you find it you typed in "jehovah's witnesses"?
i did an analysis of news searches under the main christian religions in the us and this is what i found:.
if you click on google news and type in the following religions' names and then look at the news headline for each of the and description with out actually clicking on it, but just just what google provides for a clip or snipet of information and then click on the next page and the next page until you got to 5 pages down in the news for today (jan 15, 2017) this is what i found for those news mentioning anything about "sexual abuse" of any kind per religion.. mormon 0 and latter day saints 0. catholic 1. presbyterian 0. lutheran 0. methodist 0. episcopal 0. protestant 0. evangelical 0. unitarian 0. jehovah's witnesses 6. pretty interesting that the jw's get more about sexual abuse than any other major religion in the us isn't it?

Interesting, if you type in "Watchtower Bible" then you get 13 results. Clearly JW's are a stench.

Simon, OK. Thanks for the heads-up on that. So I did the same search using incognito and everything came back identical except for the JW's. Their search resulted in 7 instead of 6 talking about sexual abuse. Wow.

baptised nearly 51 years
by Phoebe inbeen reading this site for awhile now.
i have had a long and often tragic life as a jw.
my story is so long because i'm pretty old :) i feel sad i've been locked in fear and guilt for my entire life.

It is very unfortunate, (because they are supposed to be the true religion) but factual that you are getting more support here than you were getting in your congregation. See, we don't judge here. We just help.

Pretty interesting that the JW's get more about sexual abuse than any other major religion in the US isn't it? Gee I wonder why that is. Feel free to type in the name of any religion into the Google news search box at any time and see what results you get over the next 5 pages. How many mention "sexual abuse" or the equivalent of that in the news search. The JW's top the list.

For those that read the bible, does the true message of scripture still come through in NWT?
by NikL inmy active and in jw wife is up for reading bible together.
thing is she wants to use nwt.. i have problems with that translation as you my imagine.. just wondering if you thought the true message of the bible will shine through the deliberate tampering of the nwt?.
i know many people here don't like or want to read the bible and think it's rubbish anyway, so if that's you, you can save your comments :-).

Overall, I don't think that they changed the message of the Bible, but the main thing is that they gotten rid of the deity of Christ.

JW.org as a Prank Tool
by schnell inthe moment i saw the "request a study" form on the site, i thought, "umm, that could be a bad thing.".
but to date, i have heard of only one case where it was used for less than genuine purposes.
that was in the case of a "game developer" who was selling crappy asset-flips on steam.

A while back, just for the hell of it, I filled out the form online and put a fake name in there, but to my actual address. Sure enough, two dubs came to my door. I answered and was like, no, no one here goes by that name. Must have been a prank. ;)
