Baptism of Jehovah's Witnesses
by Pistoff inespecially since the vows changed in the mid 80's, baptism among jehovah's witnesses is considered an outward symbol of an internal event, dedicating one's life to god jehovah.. in reality witness baptism is a declaration of intentions, a social contract that is unbreakable, and is encouraged for those who are too young to enter into any other legal contract.
the majority of most baptized now are under 18, the legal age in the us.. the record of your contract with the organization is kept forever, on paper, with the local congregation and with the worldwide headquarters of jehovah's witnesses.
it is a rite of passage for all witnesses; without baptism, you are not part of the community and are regarded skeptically.

Since the baptism questions (at the actual baptism) were changed in 1985 JWs are not baptized in the name of the "Holy Spirit"

What happens after you get the registered letter?
by paul from cleveland inmy friend's daughter, who was baptized at 14, has decided to leave the witnesses.
she's in her early 20's.
she's stopped going to meeting a while ago and moved in with her father who is disfellowshipped.

Another twist is to inform them you WILL be recording the meeting with or without their permission .
They are scared to death of it .

Is WT guided by holy Spirit? Trolley witnessing. What's your experience?
by KateWild ini was out trolley witnessing today.
i specifically wanted to ask jws about holy spirit, and how it guides them.. i had someone with me as usual, so jws had to be polite and answer my questions.
as we approached the trolley, an elder from my kh was there, just recently moved in.
