WT Society holds EXTREME Responsibility for 1975 and False Expectations

however- many jw's who have come into the jw organization from like 1985 forward virtually may have no knowledge of the wt society's 1975 debacle and false predictions of the end times or armageddon predictions.

just like in in the book 1984 by george orwell the wt society has a way of not only erasing it's history so no newer witnesses will be aware of their false predictions, but also they are re-writing their history as if those false predictions never happened.. so for those of you here who may have never read or heard of how whipped up into an emotional frenzy witnesses were in the years just before 1975 by the wt society claiming the end was any day now- this threads for you.

to see the pressure that was put on jw's by the wt society to get rid of everything before " armageddon " .

I was JUST writing about this. in 1966 the book Life Everlasting – In Freedom of the Sons of God which pointed to 1975. So then (and this is just how things go) over the next 9 years there is a slow and steady growth to the "implied" end of the world. And in 9 years, people can get pretty f'n panicky. Now, this is the 60's to 70's and there were a LOT of cults floating around, so it was easy to snag people into this snowball effect of impending doom.

The point is, the closer it got to 1975, the seasoned witnesses were ready to go and the new one entered the religion with rushed desperation. witness were out knocking on doors like crazy... everywhere. 'save as many people as you can'. everyone was in a frenzy and some people took it to extremes. that's to be expected, of course, but the society allowed people to take it to extremes, and that's what is really sad about the situation.

being very interested in psychology i read a book as a teenager and re-read it last year called " gestalt therapy verbatim " by frederick perls m.d.

ph, d. .

it deals with dreamwork therapy in which he conducted seminars helping people to re-connect with subconscious parts of themselves by recounting their dreams .

I personally thing dreams do have meaning, but not necessarily in a metalphysica sense. I usually analyze my dreams based off emotions I feel... understanding that my brain is just trying to work something out. With that in mind, it's best not to take anything too seriously,

But in talking with people you can find out A LOT about a person by their dreams... and by how they relate dreams. It's very interesting psychologically speaking.

has anyone had any first hand experiences with this?

i have googled it several times and it seems right up there with big foot and the loch ness monster.

there are stong emotional writings that describe the events of such, but few peole have very much evidence other then videos of (seemingly) random cars and such.. i ask because i was a rather involved member of the organization and have happily been god-free for 15 years.

Quake an bethel tours!

just went over to witnet...dont know why?, but i got a little laugh out of the fact that theres a big ad at the top of the page for quake ii eh?!

of all games....if your've ever played it, you'll know its pretty violent, you could even say demonic!, atleast thats how the gb would put it i reckon!.some how i just cant imagine all these dubs ditting down playing this type of game....imagine it would be a big no no.. on anther topic, whats with these bethel tours they're always advertising over there abyway?, anyone been on one, i mean what would be the attraction....whatever happened to disney land?

okay, so don't judge me because in the story i totally redeem myself (i promise), but i'm currently writing about my experiences as a gay jehovah's witness, and part of that was going to bethel. so I had to share this paragraph I am working on:

"The idea is to seclude the workers off from the extranious by keeping them unable to experience anything on the outside. In rare occasions like James and Aaron, the parents would provide some sort of supplemental help either through checks or with a credit card. Care packages like those sent from Amber and the twins would always include goodies to eat, fun things to read, and a check. All the brothers in the computer department were on rotation to give tours to visitors and James eventually became a regular. At the end of each tour some brother (or brothers) would shake his hand and slip him $40 or $60, and that could be from multiple people in just one tour group. Little old ladies were sweet, but they would only slip $5 or $10, and somehow that just seemed absurd to James. Still he smiled, and was thankful that each of them to spend all this money to come visit the Watchtower Farms in the middle of fucking no where, and still be generous enough to part with five dollars.

And it was that point that James officially realized how Bethel changes someone."

Letter from and to my JW Niece

my niece is on fb.

she's a very creative and lovely person, but she's the only other family member i have who's a jw.

her mother got booted out for smoking, and her brother just seems to know it's a bunch of crap.. on fb, i posted a funny status update that went something like this: "my mother brought me up and hoped that i would grow into a career that would fulfill her dreams.

make no mistake. the JW organization is a business. As an ex bethelite i can tell you there is a DRAMATIC difference between the witnesses at the local level and those in the world headquarters.

they may not be selling the magazine, but they they are selling the message. and it is a very very good business....

my first year out was a dramatic balancing act in a way that is hilarious now.... but at the time was ridiculous.

as being out the first year is ridiculous in itself. Anyway... congrats.

I finally got out of one guy I hooked up with that "a religion" THIS AND ONLY THIS. That didn't make sense. Next hook up I got that MAYBE he was hired to hook up with gay guys on grindr and other sites to help monitor sexual practices and drug use... I'M GUESSING. That is the most speculation I can give with any evidential consistency. And even then I refuse to believe it. REWRITE:: Once I got out of one guy I hooked up with that "this religion" allowed THIS AND ONLY THIS... the hooking up with strangers. This didn't make sense. He also couldn't hook up one time because he was headed to Houston... the same Weekend as my mom's convention. one is odd... the other is coincidence. The last time I hooked up with him I got a strong feeling he was hired to hook up with gay guys on grindr and other sites to help monitor sexual practices and drug use... I'M GUESSING and I put it out of my head because the concept is appalling and inhumane. That is the most speculation I can give with any consistency. And even then I refuse to believe it. (sorry... i'm writing this from a hospital so I can get some sleep.

YES... I PUT AWAY ALL THE WEED AND CRACK. KICKED OUT THE CRACK WHORE AND VACUUMED THE ASH TRAYS... I ALSO STOPPED LISTENING TO LED ZEPPLIN AT LOW VOLUMES BECAUSE...THAT SH** WILL MESS YOU UP... :p Innocently, I actually thought Hillside Place Apartments (Austin, Texas) was having an influx of Mormon residence lease or maybe there were new Jehovah's Witnesses in the area as neighbors. I didn't know and I didn't care because no one ever knocked on my door. but from a selfish level it was sad to see the increase of assumable married older women walking their dogs in what was once a mid-class student housing area. the only part I cared about was their purposeful avoidance of me. And as a person who has partied many times, there was something off about the rigidity of those that would "get drunk" in the common areas. But that is all only first glance. And this could all be explained with the adjective "Hipsters". I am an artist and I do a lot of large format art. (and for your funny guys... I have to do all my art sober or else it looks like something a cow trampled while poked through a tunnel - not good). but I will work for days without coming out of the apartment. And, like clockwork I would get a knock on the forth day. day four: One wanted to know if I knew who owned a grey Honda hatchback parked on the side of the building... who's was it?? (I think the answer was "It's your own car you silly girl"). another painting (still sober) and it was "Time Warner" offering me a random coupon... one that I got in the mail... that everyone in the complex got in the mail. next time it was the witnesses in Spanish (which I don't speak). Someone's little girl throwing rock at the door was pleasant, but not part of the story. I finally got out of one guy I hooked up with that "a religion" THIS AND ONLY THIS. That didn't make sense. I am an ex regular pioneer, ex kingdom hall worker, ex assembly hall worker, international volunteer, ex bethelite, and ministerial servant who was excommunicated 15 years ago... who has... VOLUMES of information that have collected dust on the shelf because I left them alone... and they left me alone. So leaving my story aside (and I don't mean for it to be so choppy. I'm tying to digest and look for info at the same time, maybe ask others if they had experienced first hand something similar. Thanks @scott77 - Some of these I have seen... some I have not. I ask because I was a rather involved member of the Organization and have happily been god-free for 15 years. A few months back I started noticing a dramatic increase in 'non-discript, non-logo wearing, friendly people makng a purposeful presence around me... but ALL of them specifically NOT paying attention to me specifically. This is odd because I'm in Central Texas... everyone waves to each other. I was raised to be polite to everyone... and everywhere I live I have neighbors that you are familiar with. Anything odd is then easily noticed... and this is ODD.

And unwavering. I pseudo-confontation, it seems they want to be seen, but unconfrontational. It's very wierd. Anyway. I have scratched my head and just moved along with life because... and I will admit... I can be a bit of a douche and I love the attention.

But still... has anyone else run across some sort of situation like this?
