JWs target retirement homes
by Scully inin a recent post (http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/67537/1051937/post.ashx#1051937) new directives to congregations by the wts included: it also suggests that the owners of all local old folks homes be contacted to provide a "free weekly bible discussion" to all elderly who want to attend in the home.
this is to be a planned weekly event to increase the number of studys pioneers hold and "provide a valuable service to the community" the society expect to see bible studies go up by 25% this year.. .
well, it is nice for us to get this heads up from the brothers?, isn't it?

I'm puzzled with this plan the WTS has. Aside from the $$$$ subject that many already mentioned, what will happen to these old folks when they study for a while? They are confined to the nursing home, can they go to the meetings? Because you know that's the first thing all JW's stress when they're studing with someone. If they don't go to the meetings, that means, according to the WTS, that the students are not appreciating what they are learning. Also, they'll be encouraged to go out preaching. Again, how can they do that?! So, if these folks are really NOT going to progress like any other people who study with the JWs, or even, if they are not even EXPECTED to progress, for obvious reasons, then, I guess there's really something else behind all this.

America: North America - The Difference: BRITS READ UP!
by RAYZORBLADE inwelcome to the continent of north america.. within this continent, which includes also the carribbean islands, and central america, it's not one (1) country, but a collection of different countries.. i have noticed, quite a bit actually, with our friends from across the pond (atlantic ocean), especially those that reside in great britain/united kingdom, yes even the republic of ireland, of their generalities with regards to the term: america.. heaven forbid, i would guess if you lumped all brits in with europe/europeans.
wrong.. my experience has been that, most brits consider anything over this way.....the other side of the atlantic as: america.
thus to other nationalities within north america: that means: the u.s.a.. to a north american: when you say "america" it means: the united states of america.

Aztec,
Ok, let's see, for example, over here, in the regular English speaking radio, we play songs made by US artists and also by artists from other English speaking countries. We don't play songs in Spanish or Portuguese. We have special radio stations for these. But if you tune into a radio station from these countries, I would say, 75 % of the songs they play are in a language they don't comprehend, English. They love it. Try it for yourself. Find a web radio from these countries.
Now I don't think that these countries lack artists. No way. They just are fascinated with our culture. Go figure.

Aztec,
(I'm at work, so it's kind of difficult to put down my thoughts without interrumptions...sorry if I take some time).
What I ment is that if not most, but certainly not some either, maybe somewhere in between, Americans forget the rest of this continent, except for Canada. For instance, now we are fingerprinting and photographing visitors without a visa. Fine, it makes sense to me. But it's not universal. Only Europe and if I'm not mistaken also Canada are excluded from this procedure. What about the rest of the countries in Central and South America?Ok, some may have drug dealing or communist ideas, wherehaveyou.....but why not pick and choose. Do you see what I mean. I mean, they are our neighbors.
What do you think?

Sassy,
If you don't fit the description I presented, then you shouldn't be offended at all. I was not talking about you. What's the matter with everyone here? Didn't anyone understand what I ment? Geez
Can anyone from the other end of the woods see what I mean? Has anyone from the rest of the continent ever been the victim of a derrogatory comment or action?
Aztec, I'm just curious, why you chose the name "Aztec"?

Hey Aztec,
You missed the part where I mentioned MOST Americans. I'm happy you don't fit the profile. But from what I see, you don't live in the US.
I live in the capital of the world, the mega melting pot. I see day in and day out how, again, most Americans think of other people who were born in the American continent but not in the US. The other day, a lady in the subway called this little man (most likely from Mexico) a foreigner in a confrontation. I couldn't believe it. I thought, this man most have hundreds of generations on this continent, and yet, believe it or not, he was the foreigner. Amazing.
Anyway, these are things seen only by those of us who live here in the US.
I too am an American.

Let me tell you something about the American Continent as a whole. Everyone born on this continent is an American.
Also, I assure you, the majority of the US born, do not give a crap about European countries, much less about the rest of their own American neighbors, from Canada all the way down to Argentina. We make fun or belittle every other country in the world. Yet, ironically, most of the rest of the world, worship Americans and everything American.
My two cents.

Bruce Almighty
by Stefanie ini love that movie.
i have to say its my all time favorite movie.
i love the whole concept of it.

Hello,
I loved the movie. My mother is one person who complains all the time about her life. She says she prays to Jehovah about her "difficult" situation, and hopes that He will fix it for her. But like in the movie, maybe that's as good as her life will ever be. She fails to realize that Jehovah wants her to be happy with what she has.
How can anyone not see the real message in the movie. And how about the real, unselfish prayer Bruce said to God at the end when he thought he was dead?

WTS AND THE INTERNET
by heyfea inregarding the wts and their fear of the internet.
i just wanted to mention that the wts will probably come out with a cd-rom, something to supposedly help the jws study the bible, or some crap like that, but in reality, it will be a program to block the jws from accessing any anti-jws web site.
i know the church of scientology did it.
