I've never heard of that. What do you mean the WTS allows an unscriptural divorce? To do what? To be disfellowshipped later? Because that's what it'll happen if either person remarries (in order to have sex with whom they have chemistry). If that's true, then the WTS is truly evil. It does not provide solutions; it provides depression, stress, and death, not only spiritually with their disfelloshipping, but also physically, though more rare, when people at the end of their rope commit suicide.

Sexless marriages
by Mickey mouse ini've heard of a fair few sexless marriages in the borg, probably something to do with the fact that if you're raised "in" you'll have a pretty skewed view of sex by the time you finally get to do it.
so if someone is trapped in a sexless marriage, from a jw standpoint they could get an unscriptural divorce...but...that doesn't leave them free to remarry??!
seems pretty sadistic really.

JWDaugher,
that's a noble sentiment. However, IT IS costumary to give a gift to the bride and groom. I personally would feel ofended IF I KNOW that someone has the means to give me a gift or even money to help me form my own home but instead shows up with a colander at my wedding or shower.

Why is it smoking considered a sin?
by heyfea in.
any biblical support?
please remember that there are a lot of things we consume which contaminate us, even in the everyday food we eat.

Then bottom line, will I be denied access to heaven IF I smoked?

You are right, they are both. On one hand you have the few who have the means to be generous but are not because they NEVER had the good example from the WTS. And on the other, you have the ones with limited means who cannot give as much even if they wished to. Sad, sad, sad.

One thing I've noticed in all the congs. that I went to. Let's say that a couple in the cong. gets married and they choose to have a party at a caters. They spend around $60 or more per head. (When I got married I spent $40, twenty-one years ago) Anyways, then, here comes the dub guests and they bring an envelope with $30 as a gift. Are they kidding? Don't they know that things cost money? I always believed that all should help the couple get back their money plus extra. It's like a fund raiser dinner. At least that's the way is done outside. My italian family, not dubs., were the only ones who gave my husband and I $300 or more per envelope, (for two guests).

So why ARE women allowed to speak at congregation meetings?
by easyreader1970 inthe apostle paul said that women should be silent in congregation meetings and not flap their traps.
if they need to talk about something, they can talk about it with their husband when they get home.
so why does the wbts pick and choose which verses they apply and which they do not?

I am a woman, and thought I read that scripture regarding women remaining silent in the church, I always wondered then WHY God refers to the Church as a WOMAN, bride of Christ?

I am an active elder and I voted today!
by outofthebox intoday is a proud day for me.
i became part of my fellow citizens in this country by casting my vote.
it was a thrilling experience (more like a disney ride really, since the line wasn't that long).

I'm so happy that you voted; being an elder and all. Right on! Good for you.
I voted too. But I'm not a dub any more. I don't think I would have had the courage you have. I'm glad you did.

MY THEORY OF ECONOMICS/present situaion
by badboy inwhere the `masters of he universe' went wrong, is they dressed up complex financial instruments(ie sub-prime mortages) as great things to invest in.. it appears that they may have violated a economic law, namely they were not producing any product or service.. if everyone were dealing in dirvaives ,socks or shares etc with the idea that is how to make your money, but not producting any goods etc, you wouldn't have any people making wealth from goods and services.. greed can also bring down an economy.. perhaps someone should have helped these sub-prime morttagees by training them for high quality jobs, making it less likely that they would default... .

"
The reason that a home is worth some amount of money, any amount of money for that matter, is because that is the amount of money that someone else is willing to pay for it. This is the way free markets work. The value of a commodity, in this case a home, is determined by supply and demand and a buyer’s willingness to pay."(http://realestatezebra.com/the-market-determines-price-not-the-government)
Therefore, I say that consumers created this rise in real estate property and it's consequences. The banks and real estate agents took advantage of this, but they knew that houses did not cost so much money in the first place. Why does a 1 or 2 family house HAS to cost $500K, $700K, or more? The ones who paid that much are morons. And shame on the banks and real estate agents.
