Because WT cannot materially prove the claim of "spirit directed organisation"
Plus, the GB want to exclusively control all the 'directing', and that proof cannot be avoided.
i am posting a link as to being legally bound to jw rules at time of baptism.
i only did a quick skim, but what i gathered is interesting, and what it says about 1985 may be of use to some hoping to just fade and not be bothered.
in 1985, the questions were changed at baptism for legal purposes so they could have causation to defend themselves should you decide to sue for whatever reason.

what i mean is the mormon's have their own set of wacky beliefs and are a pretty insular group, engage in a form of door to door ministry but don't discourage higher education.
in fact, the handful of mormons i went to school with were pushed to excel academically and go to college.
yeah there are ex mormons but for a great many, going to university doesn't turn them into atheists.
Why would JWs want to go the Mormon route. They already have a bigger more engaged following.
False.
Mormon population as of 2021 reported at near 17,000,000.
JWs 8 mil.
Fact check.
"more engaged following" is subjective and unfalsifiable.
examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves.
know ye not your own selves, how that jesus christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?
- 2 cor.
If you go to a place of Jesus worship but end up being the only person present, by Jesus' own formula, he is not there.
You claim Jesus dwells inside of you, so, why would Jesus require two or three people gathered in order to summon his presence if he is already hiding inside of you...
Do the math.

It is an oath, not a contract.
Boy Scout & Girl Scout clubs also speak oaths, which in some cases, is enforced punitively.
Children have also spoken oaths in secular courts under the penalty law.
Society, in general, rarely objects to children commiting to an oath.
WT will continue to exploit this as long as secular governments tolerate it; and even if religious protections were revoked, WT would probably defy as part of "theocratic warfare"
Like the old hypocritical preachers said: "Religion is a snare and a racket!"
this is the first day of the return to the d2d work, no one in the strip opened their doors or gates.
what a waste of time!.
According to Splaneology, the very angels are invisibly documenting every single individual that "took no note" of the JW literature. This will "evidently" help the angels know which people and children to slaughter during Armageddon, so imminently at hand.
Lovely doctrine, no?

And yet, "wherever two or three gathered together in my name, there I am with them."
If Jesus dwells inside of people, why is he apparently not present where only ONE has gathered in his name?
Totally inconsistent teachings, and the math does not add up.

If Jesus dwells inside of people, does he jump out real quick before they do sinful deeds? Or does he stay inside for the ride?

I don't know if LDS Mormons are borrowing ideas from WT, or if GB helpers are just peeking at LDS stuff and then pass on similar ideas to the GB who run with it as their own.
Several years ago I did hear a rumor that Morman LDS leadership had approached JW GB leadership about the possibility of merging. I stayed alert to any indications to support the rumor.
When WT began rebranding itself with younger GB, new corporate extensions, and .org media (which is eerily similar to preexisting LDS Mormon media) that would have been a good time to deploy a merge, but obviously they did not merge, only used similar rebranding strategies.
It is curious... both JW & LDS began publishing video "broadcasts" from leadership (yes, actually called "broadcasts"), also a talk show style feature with missionaries like the JW "Inside Story" which LDS named "Face to Face", and even an animated video series for LDS children with a character actually named "Sophia" just like the JW Sophia from "Caleb & Sophia"... Oh, and let's not forget the embarassing WT attempt for a JW "choir" led by Maestro David Wannabe Splane which falls embarassingly short of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.
The similarities don't end there.
"Check it out"...
"Get the facts"...

it does me, no curse words.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6zonn0pxguc.
I would listen to the song but it is not linking well to your post...

Even if some commitment from a child, such as religious baptism, is nonbinding to the child, it may eventually become binding if that child willingly & knowingly carries on with that commitment into adulthood.
Generally, for an underage person to nullify out of a commitment, that person must seek release while still under the minimum age of legal consent.
This is another reason why JW parents and guardians grooming children into an underaged baptismal commitment to WT corp is an appalling loophole of society.
Even if this is explained to a child, children cannot fully comprehend the potential future ramifications of JW baptism.
WT is nonetheless overjoyed to exploit young children for the sake of membership and "salvation", despite there being no clear evidence of child baptism practices recorded in the bible.
