Counseled by a Hypocrite?
by WildTurkey inhave you ever been counseled by a hypocrite?
an elder for playing a video game where you zapped bugs from outer space once counseled me.

Probably been asked but...
by AnotherEscapee inhi everyone and a happy new year to you!.
i'm sure this has been asked before but as i'm fairly new i missed all the discussion you had on this one.. we know the wts signed up with the un as a ngo, they say for a library ticket because the un changed their policies.
of course, there is no acceptable reason whatsoever for them being hypocritical and becoming affliated to what they see as the wild beast but what do think their real reason was?

Thanks for that - I'm off there now!

who loved???? the written review
by nightwarrior inactually i was one of the sad ones that use to love to try and remember what i had learnt, but after some time the written review became tedious and oh so boring....... but i recvd a phone call today from my mam who informed me that the written review was being changed to an oral review .... oh the excitement.... you know, to save on the costs, plus that 'we' are progressing????
(my mam's words)... oh dear, i am so glad i am away form the lot of 'em.. did you ever notice how the hall attendance would diminish drastically when the w.r. was taking place????
maybe after all these years, someone, somewhere has taken the hint....... oh well i can be counted out anyway...... i hope that your replies are amusing?!.

What DO You Know Now That You Didn't Before?

I slowly wised up, seeing all the hypocrisy, the lying, the cheating, the back stabbing and elders protecting there own.
Then I suddenly realised being an independant thinker is good, that thinking outside the box is great, how I loved asking questions my elder husband and his mates couldn't answer. Their party line was always "leave it with Jehovah", how sad, why is it they always use buzz phrases like that, to try and shut us up that's why!
The thing that finally put the lid firmly on the coffin of the WTS for me was the UN thing - but what was the real reason they signed up as a NGO, that's what I wanna know now.
Good idea Blueblades - I refuse to be labelled by the WTS. I think I may start calling myself what I really am - a true Christian!

SPIRITUALY & EMOTIONALLY ABUSED
by nightwarrior inall the posts i have read and digested from the board leave myself feeling perplexed, moved with pity and still wanting something more ,both myself and wife are hungry people as regards the truth,i recall that the ancient cristians used to hide away from the roman army within the catcoombs , they sought safety security & solace ,i feel that this site has given evryone the same provision,as the early christians had, yet some just brouse the experiences within , and move on without contributing therfore most of the commited people here still leave ourselves exposed as we willingly post our experiences on the board ,looking into the heart and soul of your fellow man is indeed a privelage, given the freedom by the person posting,.
there still seems to be something missing within some postings, initialy you want revenge for all the hurt and harm one suffers at the hands of the borg ,then you feel the need to search for truth ,as the internet opens up different ways for the truth to be revealed, which opens up more discussions and thoughts ,to everyone.
my main point in life now is to know that i am not lost, that i dont need man to direct myself to god ,the only thing i need to keep in front of myself is that ,if armageddon does come it doesnot really matter, due to the fact that,i have come to the knowledge of freedom that no matter what i do ime still going to die wether i do much or little, the truth will be revealed either at my death or perhapps later ,you cant buy gods favour, most people want to be saved or be part of the great crowd,me ime happy just living for to/day, what transpires from here who knows, .

Hi Nightwarrior
I know where you're coming from, when you've been in 'the truth' for so long some things are burnt into our brains and hearts. But where do we go from here? Like you I'm new to this, but I'm real glad I found this site. Already, I've lost my fear of armageddon and I've spent my time researching doctrines and the results have made me feel even safer. Right now I'm reading a book which I hope might help in my rescue attempt of my kids but I think its time that will make the difference. It looks to me that WT are cutting their own throats. Like you the elders are after me, but that's probably because I'm still married to one but not living with him and they can't have a woman with a voice and knowledge on the loose.
Can I email you?

Disassociating inactive ones?
by madison149 ina few days ago someone wrote about a new rule that came out in elders school this summer about inactive ones still being accountable to jehovah's (watchtower) rules.
does this mean that they are going to start disassociating ones who have been inactive for years who are not upholding the rules?
i know of a few people who have not attended meeting in several years who either celebrate holidays or in other ways break the rules and everybody knows it.

Hi everyone
This discussion is extremely interesting to me, as I find myself in this very position as we speak. So far, the elders have tried to trick me into disassociating myself but I've written to them stating I definitely do not intend to do anything of the kind. Now they are on a witch hunt for me. I've not attended any meetings for close to 3 years, I've told them I've been stumbled and have fallen away but they are not satisfied with this, they are after me but I'm putting up a grand fight. A few weeks ago they had a judicial hearing and promptly disfellowshipped me but as I wasn't aware of the meeting and they really mucked up of some other procedures they had to back down. Now they're attempting it again but I'll go down fighting - why should they have the right to effect my relationship with my girls and the hundreds of witnesses who live in my town, not that i see the witnesses anymore but its the principle of the matter. How dare they inflict their narrow minded, bigotted, prejudiced, pigheaded, stiff necked attitude on me!
Abaddon - I've tried your reasoning but they ignored it, any other ideas?

What Are Some Of The STUPIDEST Comments Made?
by minimus inwhat are some of the stupidest comments made in the watchtower, or by a circuit overseer or elder that you've never forgotten?
the one about" the rapist being human" too, ranks right up there....like we're supposed to feel bad for him?

When I was holidaying in Florida a few years ago with my elder husband and kids, we went to the Sunday meeting much to my horror and my girls but hey ho we done like we were told as usual. Well, anyway after the meeting a very nice couple invited us back to there home for some food and a few others were invited as well. An elders wife asked how us brits dealt with brothers who had beards, it seemed a real big thing to her. I said that it wasn't really an issue for us and that several of our friends and a couple of MS's in our cong. had beards, she nearly choked on her coffee and promptly said in defence of the US stand on not using men with beards -
"If its good enough for Mickey then its good enough for Jehovah!"
