  the watchtower bible and tract society has no interest in an effective evangelical program of conversion.. .

  It seems the preaching work is getting more and more diluted. It started with sandwich boards and gramaphones mounted on cars - now the magazines are wafer thin and the general quality of witnessing (from what I've experienced) is embarrassingly poor. I got handed a magazine in the street the other day - not even a single word was spoken to me, just given a magazine like it was a pizza coupon.

  Also I've not had a knock on my door for about 8 years now - what ever happened to 'not at home' slips?

  It's purely token - the purpose of which is to keep JW's occupied and give them a chance to (sort of) excercise their faith and therefore bolster it.

  Thought the GB are in the internet age even that is ridiculously censored and insular. Just take at look at their frequently asked Q's "Do you shun people?"

  Watch the Louis Theroux documentry, part one and part two. It's the Watchtower society on a much smaller scale. Fortunately it's only got 50 or so members.

  So what exactly is GB 2.0 ?

  i've seen it mentioned by several people here, this expression "gb 2.0", but somehow i'm not entirely sure what is meant with it.. i tend to read it as governing body version 2, as in "post-milton henschel governing body", that is, when the governing body became separated from the board of directors from the watchtower society, or when the wts no longer had a member of the gb as its president, i.e.

  the end of the "president's era" in the wts.. is that your understanding also?.

  but in that case, with the death of russel and the takeover from rutherford, wouldn't that be also a watchtower 2.0 of sorts ?.

  What is the most damning watchtower publication?

  i want to purchase a couple of vintage watchtower publications to help in my helping jw's break free.

  some of the older ones are expensive or hard to come by - i know you can buy them on cd's but i'd like to own one or two of the "classics of propaganda"- some of the ones that speak for themselves as to the ridiculousness of this religion.. of course any magazine i pick up today speaks to me of the ridiculousness, but you need something much more hardcore for the jw's.. any recommendations?.

  "children" has some pretty good quotes in it..

  did you find jws more productive than non-jws and more honest and outgoing for your business expansion?

  the watchtower tries to state that jws are in high demand because of their honesty, you think the world is smarting up and realizing they are just regular people who follow men?

  I worked for a few JW bosses (window cleaning). I was underpaid in exchange for 'not having to work alongside wordly people'.

  It wasn't hard to do the sums and figure out that the boss was making an absolute killing.
