Lent

christians are preparing to enter lent.

and of course, with lent comes fasting.

orthodox christians recognize five levels of fasting:abstaining from meat (starting tomorrow at sun down) abstaining from meat, eggs, milk, butter, and cheese abstaining from meat, eggs, milk, butter, cheese, and fish abstaining from meat, eggs, milk, butter, cheese, fish, oil, and wine abstaining from all foods and beverages except bread, water, juices, honey, and nuts.

I enjoyed how you expressed yourself there, Robdar; and would agree that the first cleansing should be of the tribal ideas of God. That done, it pretty much comes down to here and now, and how we care for ourselves and others. JamesT

i was talking to a dear friend the other day and he told/showed me a marvelous thing.

it was one i already knew... as do many of you... but have forgotten.

SJ, Truly I do not wish to offend. Peoples beliefs in their ideas of God, fascinates me. For some reason I can not remember how I believed in a "person" god when I was a Witness. It amazes me now that I did. Perhaps I am asking you unfair questions. If so. Please accept my apology. JamesT

Have You Ever Considered Suicide? Have You Ever Thought Of Just Not Living

i know of a few people that have expressed themselves over the years regarding suicide and their loss of joy in living.

after reading some of the horrendous things some have gone through on this board, it is more than concievable to believe that you might have considered such options.

i, personally have never had these thoughts, but some close to me have expressed that if they "could just sleep" in death, they would feel better.

I think you are right on, Inserter. Basically, religion is a love affair with a tiny anthropomorphized concept of God; usually a man person. Few people seem to have the fortitude to investigate their cherished beliefs; few, the willingness to walk without a crutch. JamesT
