I Spent The Night With Rhondda..
by Englishman inyup!
it's absolutely true, good people, i spent last night with rhondda valley people.. i travelled across the bridge into wales yesterday evening to attend a charity concert.
loads of us from the pub hired a coach to take us near to the rhondda valley, which, as all good welshman will tell you, is the birthplace of tom jones.. the concert was, well, incredible.

by JH in.
is it easy for you to tell when a person is lying to you or do you get fooled every time?
-
JamesThomas
JH, your doing it again. Changing questions mid-stream. Why do you do that? Are you purposely trying to drive us insane? (more insane)

by lostandnotfound ini am new here and i usually dont come to these type of places as they are rampant with apostates.
i still belive in most of the teachings but its the people in the org.
that have turned me away.. the reason that i am posting though is this, i have been inactive for a few months now but i have been holding out telling my parents, friends etc.

Welcome lostandnotfound, I have not the information that you seek, but I would like to say that my heart goes out to you. Posting here for the first time, reaching out for help and understanding, is not easy. Especially when there is probably so many confusing, conflicting and fearful thoughts and feelings going through you right now. Please be gentle with yourself and feel things out with your heart, not just with the intellectual thought process of the brain. Take it slow and easy. JamesT

God is Spirit
by A Paduan in.
what does this mean to jwism - from pictures it seems that to jws this means something like an "invisible man" or a see through body or something, or an "overbearing santaclaus lookalike salesman / judge on a throne in the sky".
what do jws think that "spirit" even means ?
-
JamesThomas
The JW's view of "spiritual' in regards to God, is totally anthropomorphic: an exact copy of a ruthless human king only a little bigger and invisible. If fact they always refer to God as a person. Like Zeus only with a little different story line. In their minds God is restricted to space and time, just as we are. Thus there is no understanding of Jesus' statement "The Kingdom of God is within"; so they changed Luke 17:21 to fit their tiny and limited understanding. The Pharisees had no spiritual vision or understanding either, thus they ask Jesus when this "Kingdom" of which he spoke would arrive (in what location in time and space). When he answered, " it is not lo here, or lo there (in space and time)...but within you", they thought he was insane. There is no motivation or reason for a Witness to meditate or look within themselves for Truth. God to them is simply a scrap in the universe, and their "truth" is read from books. The Borg "truth" is totally carnal, and as far as I can see, void of any deeper and meaningful spirituality. jamesT

For those of you with personal experiences with the GB...
by logansrun inlet me start off by saying that i am fully and utterly through with the jws from both a logical and emotional point of view.
i'm happy and content in my decision to leave.
but one thing that i find very curious is the personalities of the gb members themselves.
-
JamesThomas
You will get no "humorous bashing" from me. Everyone has some good in them. Even the men of the GB -- who are insane. The first factor in their insanity is their attempt at the humanly impossible: to truly and honestly love a god (an idea of God) who will kill you if you don't. What is threatening to destroy you, can not be loved, as it goes against the very nature of love. To continually strive to do so eventually bankrupts the morals and soul. Second, in regards the GB, is the propensity for theological fascism and egomania. Like Hitler the GB believe they are Gods right hand, and there is no truth outside of their way. Those who go against it are condemned to death. Hitler's executions were a little more direct than the GB's disfellowshipping, which in their eyes amounts to the same thing....death. These men are lost in a world that their tiny little minds have created, and they can not see or comprehend outside of it. There are people locked up in insane asylums with more connection to reality than these men. Yet, they are still human and may show some degree of love and compassion for their own, as I'm sure Hitler also did....but so what? If we scourered the globe I'm sure we could come up with a thread a mile long of factual nice-stories about the men of the GB...and they would still be the governing principle and catalyst behind the spiritual, emotional and physical abuse of millions of people....destroyers of families and friendships. Hitler must have smiled when given the latest tallies of those killed in the cleansing. As the GB and many of the members smile and rejoice when speaking of Armageddon and the deaths of billions, in their cleansing. Is the comparison with Hitler, really so "profoundly ridiculous"? Was Jesus the SON......or.....the SUN?

Somewhere, someone, is worshipping a rock in a shoe. They are giving their whole life to that rock. Basing their entire reason for existence around it. You wouldn't try and take away their rock, now would you, Gumby? JamesT

After much research, I still can't go back to believing in...
by berylblue in...the trinity.
or that jesus was god.
that disfellowshipping is unscriptural (it may be unloving, it may be unwise, but it does not appear to be unscriptural).

Some people seem to get to a place where the heart just can not put up with the tiny and limited fundamental and traditional anthropomorphic concepts of God. The more you try to accept such a god, the more it ties you in knots. This has been my experience. It may be happening to you too. Perhaps looking into Christian Mysticism, Zen, Taoism, and teachings along these lines may open up a far more beautiful understanding of God that may bring you some peace. JamesT

Thank you so much. I feel much better now. Being raised a JW, you just don't feel up to pare unless there's pending doom and destruction hanging over your head. Ah, yes. I can breath now. JamesT
