Yes, not knowing.
Not attempting to know or understand or name -- but rather silently and openly being.
Being present right here, right now, embraced in the swirling cool-warm pool of life within and around.
Welcome home.
i first posted here on 3rd june 2008. at the time i was an elder, appointed the previous october, i was 36 and i was a born-in.
at the time i'd become disillusioned with the society due to the governing body's letter explaining why the book study in private homes was being abolished.
april 2008 saw me start questioning this decision, privately of course, and this eventually led me to this site, to jwfacts and to many youtube videos, all of which began to errode my faith in the leaders of the organisation.. in july 2008, having discussed my doubts with my wife, i attended the district convention, deciding to give the society one last chance to convince me it was the truth.

being pushed by religion since the 17th century.
my question is why ?.
Being pushed by religion since the 17th century. My question is WHY ?
Perhaps the foundational question here is, why did humanity shift from a living connection with universe and nature, into a mind generated belief system about it?
For example: if we knew intellectually all the knowledge ever written about trees, it would amount to nothing in the event of actually being with: touching, smelling, listening, etc, to the actual presence of a real tree. Religious dogma written on pages, degrades to its nothingness in the actuality of wind and rain.
Somewhere along the line, we forgot our natural, indescribable and wondrous connection with life, and started to create anecdotal descriptions of things and took them to be significant, valid, and all important....when they actually amounted to nothing but empty illusions and deceptions.
So perhaps the real question is, how real is the life we are living this moment?
one of my co workers mother made my 4 year old a blanket with the disney character tinkerbell on it.
as soon as i got it i knew trouble lay ahead.
i wanted to reason with her before my daughter saw it so as not to cause a disruption, but it didn't work out that way.
How do we ever find it in our hearts to embrace, honor and celebrate a deity that will kill us and our children (at Armageddon) because of a cartoon character sewn onto a blanket? What a morally revolting and insanely superstitious way to live.
that's the question l would like to ask every jehovah's witness: do you believe jesus or do you only believe what you are told about jesus?
(by the watchtower?).
if you only believe what the watchtower or the governing body tell you about jesus with their selected quotes from the bible.then in fact you don't believe jesus.
Perhaps it helps to know that religion is basically a creation of the very, very limited human mind trying to grasp something it can't. So no two peoples beliefs are exactly alike.
In the end they are all just mind generated fabrications which have nothing to do with Reality.
Relax. No one religious person is better or worse than the other, or more or less insane.
The Source of existence is too big for the human mind to comprehend.
in my culture using the first name or even last name ( we use mom, dad, sir,ma'am,grandma, grandpa, auntie, uncle) of my parents or an older and respected person in my family or circle of friends it is considered downright disrespectful!!!
even when it comes to a person who is a doctor in secluar society, out of respect you would say dr. last name, not using the first name.
not sure of how your culture does things, but if its a friend or an aquatintence of the same age we typicaly can use their first name.
A name, shrinks, limits, and separates one thing from another.
The Source and Fabric of all existence "God", is not a thing or object within existence. It is the WHOLE of existence.
Sure, we can give "God" a name in our minds, so that we then think we know something....but all we are doing is fictitiously making something which is infinite into something which is not.
This is not knowing, it's very foolish and very stupid. It's religion.
Religion sucks.
after serving in an appointed position for over 26 years (21 elder, 5 ms,14 pioneer), i have no more dreams of paradise, bored at the meetings, do not enjoy the field ministry.
the desire to do anything is gone.
i want to believe in something!.
In the absence of beliefs, what is left? Reality.
From what I have learned, the moments that matter most are those when I am kind.
The moments of petting and playing with pets, family and friends. The moments I take the enchanting spider outside instead of harm it.
The moments I forget about everything and just silently embrace the present and smile at all life as it visits me.
In the end what will matter most? Our beliefs? Our anger? Our money? Our dreams? Or the appreciative and precious smile we shared with the person who put our groceries in a bag.
In the end what matters most, our those moments when we are kind. Don't need no beliefs for that.
he needs you to do his work for him.
he needs your complete and whole souled devotion.
he needs to be in the first place in peoples lives, ahead of their families and their own needs.
In other words: if there was devil and he created a God, it would be Jehovah.
Good title for a new thread.
this is and odd topic but there is a part of me that really misses feeling that i knew more about the world than 99.9% of the people.
i spent so many years in school being the odd person because of religion.
i embraced it to some extent.
Ya, there is a sense of warm security thinking we are one of the few who know the fundamental truth of all existence.
Then we enter into a "scientific" material dogma that says we exist for 70 years and then we die and are no more.
However, many throughout time -- including Einstein -- have hinted that time and space is but an illusion, so perhaps all our cherished ideas of what is "real" (those stories which rely on time and space).... are nothing at all.
To know you know nothing, may be the wisest knowing of all.
we never hear of people speaking in the name of ants.
never do people say this or that is what an ant wants, or this is what will make an ant like you, or hate you, etc.
we just don't know how ants think.
We never hear of people speaking in the name of ants. Never do people say this or that is what an ant wants, or this is what will make an ant like you, or hate you, etc. We just don't know how ants think. They are too complex. There is far more going on within a little ant than our tiny minds can comprehend.
However, when it comes to the Source of all creation ("God"), which must be infinity X infinity more complex, there is no end to people who speak in the name of "God".
Sometimes the world is just fucking upside down.
god ordered the killing of men women and children and animals and pillaging of various nations around them.
in some instances god apparently led the way with his might arm.. this is not a question of wether it is right or wrong, but moreso a question(s) of:.
1. if you were there would you have personally participated in those killings or would you ignore the commands?.
Perhaps what is most tragic thing is that the biblical "God" is embraced by many millions as the very highest form of kindness and love. An archtype that is freely willing to kill countless men, women, children and animals.
If this is good, then what is evil? If this love, then what is hate?
What does such a grossly demented concept of "love" do to our mind and soul?
