My chat with 2 Dubs yesterday about UN membership
by jookbeard ini live close to a resonanbly busy street, 20 odd shops banks, a train station,a couple of cafes and coffee shops etc and usually see dubs doing street work close to the station and i'm now on nodding terms with an elder who is out most days of the week and have got close to recognizing most of the hard core of about a dozen of them , i was walking out of the cafe yesterday to be greeted by a couple of newbies i'd never seen before , a scruffy short dumpy man and a fairly well presented middle aged lady, i'll try and abridge the conversation as best as i can, we must have chatted for about 15 minutes and it was all in a good mannered style;.
me " have you sold many of those this morning ?".
jw guy " oh no we dont sell them we give them away for free" (like i didn't know that).

Kallam, all I can say is for me personally, the criteria for registration as an NGO is of paramount importance and significance.
Their reaction to the change in criteria is also significant. They dissassociated themselves as soon as the criteria became
objectionable and untenable.
They never changed their stance on the UN or stopped in their condemnation of it at any time during their status as an NGO.

Jookbeard, it wasn't until long after they gained NGO status that the criteria for acceptance changed.
When they were made aware of the change, they disassociated themselves. All throughout their status as NGO, they still
condemned the UN and still stated that only God's kingdom could solve mankinds problems and bring true peace and security to the Earth.
Personally I see no reall issue or problem with that, if they made an error, they rectified it, which is as much as any of us as individuals can do,
right?

The UN always has been historically condemned, and was condemned during the period as a regestered NGO, and is still condemned
to this day.
Perhaps you should give greater consideration to the rationale behind the JW'S condemnation of the United nations?

Kallam (KLLM) I've not ignored your link nor refused to look at it :)
Also the criteria for membership changed AFTER 1991, that's a documented truth...............not a fib.
The annual applications again never conflicted with JW beliefs at any time.
and again, regestration as a non governmental organisation in no way includes either support for or membership of
the united nations.
Does it?

Actually, that last bit was a bit rude, sorry about that. I suppose my "objective" was to discuss the JW's with people who had either been brought
up as a jw or who had been jw's, to gain different perspectives.
