The UN didn't have it's library online in 1991...............the early days of public access to the internet, perhaps you need to educate yourself justr a tad
on that one matey.
i live close to a resonanbly busy street, 20 odd shops banks, a train station,a couple of cafes and coffee shops etc and usually see dubs doing street work close to the station and i'm now on nodding terms with an elder who is out most days of the week and have got close to recognizing most of the hard core of about a dozen of them , i was walking out of the cafe yesterday to be greeted by a couple of newbies i'd never seen before , a scruffy short dumpy man and a fairly well presented middle aged lady, i'll try and abridge the conversation as best as i can, we must have chatted for about 15 minutes and it was all in a good mannered style;.

Last point before I toddle off to work, the principals of the UN charter which, as has been agreed before, anyone in their right mind
would be in agreement to, are Peace and security for mankind. The UN even quote the Bible itself.
How does it go against the jw's beliefs to want peace and security for mankind?
As said before in this thread though, the jw's state and have always stated that the UN will not and cannot achieve this without God.
That's it's God's theocratic kingdom that will solve mankinds problems NOT the UN inspite of what their charter may say.
Ta, ta, for now.

hello anddontcallmeshirley, with the ymca, you have to give your full support to them if you want to march around tapping tambourines, or
if you want to go for a swim and have a sly piddle in the shallow end. There aren't two types of affiliation.
There were two completely different criteria for eco/soc NGO's and DPI NGOs' in 1991, your saying "no there wasn't" doesn't and won't
change that truth in the slightest.
Write to the UN they confirmed it with me, no reason they won't do the same for you.

Datadog, I'm not a JW, and never have been, but am weighing up my options so to speak.
In my opinion, and this IS just my opinion which is all I can offer, obtaining recognition as a non governmental organisation to obtain access to
library and other facilities, where no support for the United nations has to be offered up is, in my opinion, completely different to obtaining
membership of the UN and providing your full support iof that organisation.
Furthermore in my opinion, it bears no resemblance to the spiritual fornication commited between the governments of the world and organised
religion throughout the centuries.
Just my two bobs worth.

Hello Designs, yes I've thought about that one a fair old bit actually, my personal opinion is that it isn't the
"wisest" course of action to follow, but there is still a very great difference between sitting in on a conference, and these
conferences can be very diverse in nature, from climate to world food reserves, and that of sitting in on and taking part in
a multi/false religious conference.
That is actually a point I intend to raise with the C.O when he visits the hall in a couple of weeks.

They may well send r epresentatives to UN sponsored NGO conferences in Geneva and elsewhere, but that certainly doesn't
mean that they support the United Nations, or have changed their belief that the UN is the political wild beast mentioned in the book of Revelation.
Hasn't stopped them from condeming the UN either for that matter..............

Jookbeard, I'd suggest you do the same as me, write to the UN press office, ask them to confirm the year and change in
criteria for status as a Non governmental organisation with their department of press and information.
There are TWO types of NGO, back in 1991 the criteria for acceptance of NGO status was different depending the the
particular type of NGO status you were seeking.
Don't get it from me, anyone else here, or even the JW's, get confirmation from the UN itself, then you'll KNOW.

yup, thought it probably wouldn't be here or there with you or that you'd give a tinkers cuss either way.
I double checked myself with the UN press office and they confirmed the change in criteria for status as a non governmental
organisation, which personally for me is fair enough, each to their own.
