  i'm not sure if this has been discussed before.

  you guys might recall that when the 2013 yearbook came out, the letter from the governing body ended a bit unusually:.

  we love you all very much.

  This Is all about their celeb status.rank and file are supposed to feel blessed when such a high placed man say That they,représentatives of god,love us, humble servants...makes me think about french médiéval time, when the lord of a territory gave his servants his blessing.

  as i told my wife: I do not know those guys, they live thousands of miles away from me, so why should i care if they love me or not? Reminds me of the Pope....but oh wait! JW are better because they are the unique true religion...

  Apognophos, you are correct. Hearing a GB member speak in french was something That every JW présent This day kept talking about many months later...especially because the first Word he said were "le collège central vous aime beaucoup beaucoup", in English "the Gb loves you very very much", That provoked some people to cry...was so ridiculous That i would have laugh out loud if what they are teaching were not of any conséquences on people's life...

  and for the record, many things could be added to the list: Elitism regarding other religions (we are the best), nonsense teachings, etc...

  it is the "privileges" ballet...you know This little dance That every young male in the congregation does with the elders in order to be appointed...well not every young male but the ones who week some kind of "career" in the JW way...

  Zone visit from David Splane in Paris,2011. There has been a lot of pressure by elders in my cong to go to This event,but when arrived there were no organisation here: The meeting caused so Much trafic issue on the nearby highway that we got blocked into it for 1hour, then when arriving there was not enough Seat for every one so we had to sit on the floor.then listening that dude and seing the réaction of people around i thought "wow, they really are adoring This guy and not God".

  after that every thing that made me cringe a little, policy about collège, DF thing, pressure to put hours of service on a report, pressure to always do more, "privilèges" ballet for men, reinforced my conviction that This religion was BS...

  Tech49: Mini RC 2014 Review

  i attended the regional convention (district convention) over the last weekend, and thought i would spend a few minutes putting down some thoughts, for your amusement.

  i will bounce around a bit, as my notes and thoughts were a little craaaaazy.. we met at one of the smaller venues on the west coast, with attendance around 7,000.

  (28 baptized.... <.04%) we were tied in to the international convention in arlington, tx.. my first thought, only about 2 hours in, was how much this sounded like a plain old sales meeting!

  Tech49: There was the part about not associating with DF relatives. His wording was that we could associate with them and show them respect, as long as we were discreet. (open-ended and non-commital language).

  did not have This today here in Paris...in the "family ties" talk the guy did say, and i quote word by word: "some of our relatives may get angry as we do not associate AT ALL with disfellowshipped family members.but to whom are we going to Say NO? To Jéhovah or to our family? We do not want to Say no to jehovah..."

  no mention of "discreet relation" here...teaching is still the same...i guess your speaker took some liberty with the plan...

  Drama friday 2014 DC

  anyone seen the drama on friday ?.

  it was about a pioneer couple, when the husband, also an elder, lost his job, and borrowed money from a fellwo elder, who apparently was considered weatlthy.. the main lesson of the drama was quite ok, even though a bit overdone, touching on the issue of gossip and false assumptions.. but there were at least two subtle lessons, whitch were quite disturbing:.

  1) no matter what happens, remain pioneering.

  and the last sentence:"unity in god's people is wonderful"! Real joke this one...what good laugh is planned for tommorow;)?

  I understand your feelings exwhyzee. Sometimes i have the same kind of nostalgia about when i believed that Stuff and DC was the highest point of the year, startingénieur the summer with good time and seing friends.... It´s normal to feel sad about it sometimes.... But when you remember all the fake Stuff you are asked to swallow as a JW, the nostalgia quickly go away...

  Advice on fading needed

  these 2 options are before me right now-.

  1. write a letter to the elders and my family, not da myself but basically saying i have too much going on in my life and am confused, so that they will stop bothering my wife and stop asking me questions all the time.

  after i write the letter continue to go to the hall less and less.... 2. appease my wife.

  Hi wallievase.

  Many have said it but it have to be stressed: if you only want to fade but not DA or be DF, do not write anything to anyone...writing is the best way to be considered as DA people.

  for the rest, there is no perfect advise as each situation is different. I can only tell you what i do, it is your solution number 2. I go to every meeting to appease the wife (even if i am always very late) and go sometimes in FS (some months i do not go at all and cake service time in my report). My wife is to much "in" the dubs to accept me fading right now.... And i have to Say that sometimes, it is hard to deal with....

  District Convention

  don't know if this has been covered before, but who noticed that at every talk at the district convention (mine anyway), every speaker was introduced by name and then 'brother x has been serving for 25 years as a pioneer" or "he has served on the branch committee" etc etc.. what is it with these credentials?

  i've been an elder on and off for most of the last twenty years.

  big deal.

  it is in all DC and RC i confirm that, and seems in all countries also. Here in France i've been hearing those "introductions" by number of years to pioneer for almost 10 years at least. But i remember there was a time when the speaker did not introduce talks that way...
