I pretty much made my decision prior to discovering this board. I use this board mostly as a sanity check and as confirmation that what I lived through was not "all in my head". There is no way that it is by sheer co-incidence that so many people from so many backgrounds who don't even know me remotely could have so many of the same if not similar experiences. After some self-examination, I've come to the conclusion that I'm not sure if I was actually "in" in the first place. I inherited the belief system from my parents and bought into the package without thoroughly examining the contents (which, by the way changed as time went on). This forum may not be helping anyone get out, but if a person is honest with him or herself after reading the real life stories, they would have to agree that it sure isn't helping anyone stay in. And that's just my take on things.

Do You Think We Are Helping Witnesses Get Out Thru This Forum?
by minimus ini am curious , especially since we have so many new ones here, as to how many actually left the organization because of this board or others similar to it.
i certainly would hope that we are making a dent in the jw organization by what we do here......,

Bank most of it. Dole out funds *anonymously to those who I think are truly needy. Keep working until the fun of doing it is gone.
*this is important. Once the vultures find out you have cash, they'll keep coming.

by Confucious inalthough not professionally diagnosed, i feel like i'm a sociopath.

DO NOT label yourself! Trust me on this one. Once you slap that label on yourself or allow others to, you'll feel impelled to start living up to the legend, if even subconciously. Treat whatever problem you have as an individual. DO NOT accept the blanket label! DO NOT!!!. I also make a good living. However, life's tough enough in itself and having "stuff" ain't all there is to life! Recognize your problem for whatever it is, (Lord knows I'm no analyst and don't have the credentials to be even the most junior of advisors) However, I am well versed in the "human experience" Get the appropriate help and move on. Move on.... My prayers go with you...really.

Ramble Here, Just off Load Thoughts, Talk Bollocks:
by Celtic insometimes it be good to write just completely unjudgementally.
feel free to do this here, on this thread, talk bollocks, talk bullshit, take nothing seriously, have fun with what and who you are, frollick with words and make them dance if need be.. any commonsense thread is immediately disallowed.
simply write fun and let words tumble forth, cascade upon your typing fingers.. this is your space and no one will judge you at all for what you write.. if someone is dumb enough to ask anything not pertaining to enjoyable daftness, celtic will rampantly inspire in his mind, complete junkish compliments to ranckle your mind, until you write absurdity.. there be fun out there, who first?

On the operating table. When I finally realized that what I thought to be the end was near, actually I felt peaceful and ready to go. (Not at all the feeling I expected). After I "came to", I asked how close I was to "checking out". (I wanted to make sure that I was not exaggerating my state). I was told that I was very close. And yes, it did change my life. I figure I'm on 6 years of borrowed time and decided to enjoy the ride. After reading the harrowing stories of what happened to everyone else, I feel very
lucky,um,...fortunate,um...blessed,um..., ALIVE!!!! -

The humid steamy restrooms. Floors mopped up using buckets filled with dirty water, huge rolls of toilet paper that had previously fallen on the wet floor and picked back up for use. The smell of stinky bodies coupled with warm urine and other "stuff"... Ahhh, who could ask for anything more?

Did you wear your badge outside the convention, so as to "give a witness?"
by truthseeker inthis year at the dc, we were expressly told to wear our badges at all times, even when going to a restaurant or some place else, so we could "give a witness.".
did any of you hear follow through with this arrangement?
did you have one of those "fantastic" experiences, when someone commented on your badge?.

That's the one thing that I was downright adamant about! I stopped wearing a badge around 1980 or so. When I DID wear a badge, I never wore it in the prescribed fashion and in the prescribed badge holder. I always used a badge holder that I got from some secular convention or other function. And when I DID wear a badge, that sucker came off in the car on the way out. I NEVER wore it out to dinner or anywhere else. Mostly because I didn't want any other witnesses coming up to me, introducing themselves and saying "That was a fine program! Do you not agree? Come, join us for dinner so that we can further discuss the events of the day." (Ugh! as if I hadn't heard enough already) Subconsciously, and now looking back, I think that was the REAL beginning of the end for me. Badges started to mean "label" to me; and I HATE being labeled. Period.

Care Bears
by desib77 ini told my husband that i'm pretty sure i wasn't allowed to play with these when i was younger but i can't remember the reasoning behind it?
was it because they had special powers?
or was it because one of them had a four leaf clover on him?

Don't know about the rest of them, but the description below of this particular bear is a classic "no no" in JW terms and enough to make any JW start having conniption fits! We personally have the Care Bear movie in our home video collection. Good Luck Bear is loaded with luck and he loves to share it with anyone who can use a little more good fortune. You'll almost always find this bear with a big smile on his face. Even the symbol on his tummy is lucky?a four-leaf clover! Caring Mission: He shares his good luck with others. Symbol: His four-leafed clover symbolizes the luck that's always with him. Personality: Happy and self-confident. Character Quirk: He can make broken machines work with a snap of his fingers. Color: Green. Best Friend: Funshine Bear Relationship Challenge: Cheer Bear?for some reason, his good luck doesn't work when she's around. Motto: Lucky for you I'm here !
